I never really got hooked on collectible card games, only played hearthstone for a few days and it felt like I had to force myself to continue, so I stopped. I tried LOR because it was suggested in the app store and I thought it wouldn't hurt to try it.

Have you read my Hearthstone critic ? Have you heard about me being a Magic nerd ? Did you know, that I don’t know Jack about League of Legends ? All of that being sad, I love this one. Best mobile TCG nowadays. Hearthstone has less complexity and is more expensive. Eternal has less playerbase unfortunately. Magic is more expensive.

Watch Arcane to get in touch with the League Universe. Riot MMO soon will probably be great too.

The monetization scheme makes this a very accessible game, they absolutely pour cards onto you as long as youre playing. I really like how champions and leveling them up give concrete identity to certain archetypes or win conditions. The Path of Champions deck builder mode is especially fun, and the art is top notch!

Legends of Runeterra is a digital card game that's somehow both accessible and complex in equal measure. It makes smart use of the League of Legends universe while still being approachable for newcomers, and is the rare example of free-to-play done right. If you've been looking for a card game to sink your teeth into, Legends of Runeterra is an easy recommendation.

Legends of Runeterra might be the best deck-builder on mobile, but the grind and hard to access champions, leave it falling just short.

Legends of Runeterra is the CCG that I’ve been waiting for. Instead of relying on League of Legends franchise, it builds off of it, which allows it to stand out in the sea of other games available. The unique match layout and simplistic card presentation make this the perfect entry point in the genre, but I’m also waiting to see how the developer builds on this success with balance updates and support.
