Due to 148apps (criminally) low 60 score this game's unfortunately pretty underrated here.

Imo Hero Emblems is one of the best games I've ever played on iOS and everybody I've recommended it to until now pretty much feels the same way. Very unusual for the genre (RPG/match3 hybrid) and mobile games in general it provides the player with
    - tactically deep fun combat
    - a casual mode for players wanting an easier/less challenging experience
    - a long playing time (25+ hrs for a single playthrough, 40+ if you want to see and collect everything)
    - varied quests with tons of different enemies and dungeons
    - no grinding necessary (as long as you play your board clever and equip the right spells for certain dungeons)
    - replayabilty (due to different choices/endings and lots of hidden treasures/spells/emblems you probably won't find in your 1st playthrough etc.)
    - NO iAP's whatsoever

The only minor quarrels I could find are that the english localisation leaves a bit to be desired (the developers are a small team from SE asia) and that the story's a bit cute and cheesy (like with a lot JPRG style games). As those are very minor issues, aren't the main selling points of such a kind of game anyway and didn't bother me one bit during my two playthroughs it doesn't merit a point deduction though.

All in all Hero Emblems is an amazing mobile gaming experience, providing the player with many hours of rich in variety loot and combat. For how much it offers the very fair one-time price of $ 3.99 (genre-atypical without any iAP) is an absolute bargain. With so many heavy weight pros and only one or two tiny flaws this fantastic game doesn't deserve anything less than the perfect score. 10 out of 10.

In a world where even paid mobile games have micro-transactions It's nice to see an affordable well designed game with no micro-transactions. It's a really good blend of turn based rpg and match-3. It's also very challenging and provides a high amount of game play for 3 dollars.

The twee aesthetic is going to be a deal-breaker for some, but behind it lies a surprising degree of craftsmanship that makes this a strong example of it’s genre, a lengthy and consistently joyous experience where the gameplay’s polish makes up for the game’s weaker elements.

Hero Emblems delivers a solid, compelling mix of jRPG and match-3 puzzles, with a premium price and no IAPs.

Match-three to defeat waves of monsters in this challenging puzzle RPG.
