    It used to be fun until... instead of Strategy, all changed to wallet power... and it is always about it $$$... I have read previous comments from 2013... Today at July 2017 Strongholds goes up level 41, VIP level OVER 75 and Hero levels up to 130 something growing at a weekly rate... if you want to be at the top perhaps you will need to spend $100 bucks twice a month... If you have self control, you can get in the game just to slay some monsters time to time MZ will give you some stuff that will help you grow but... forget about fighting! Brand new players can get to the top with a copule of 100´s where I´ve seen long term players spending thousands of USD... If you are OCD better stay away from this game, it will suck your life and money! I´ve used a second cheaper game to slow down my need of playing called King of Avalon... and still... is kind of the same without the crazy spending (still you need to spend)... Now I am bored of them both... I just spent $1000usd... And I feel lucky to be out of their nails! Beware that today´'s market is all about fast peace change all the phone games are evoluving towards. AS HAS BEING EXPOSED it just began with $4.99 and ended up on the $99.99... sounds stupid but a LOT of people pay it! I DID IT!… Expand

    Game of war isn't a play to win game. It is a pay to win game! It's like trying to play a board game with 90% of the pieces missing. Or, it's like paying off the judges to win a competition. Most updates are locked or unavailable unless you pull out your credit card. You can't compete in this game unless you spend a ridiculous amount of money. I played this game for over two years and gotGame of war isn't a play to win game. It is a pay to win game! It's like trying to play a board game with 90% of the pieces missing.     I see that you won't get far if you don't pay at least a little bit of cash, but if you have $20 you can get a decent way through the game. I've spent $200 in my month of playing the game and I am almost maxed out. You do NOT need $10,000.    … Expand

    This game started out fun. The kingdom was balanced (at least to a degree). MZ in their greed has now made it completely unbalanced. If you're not ready to spend hundreds on upgrades and troops, you cannot possibly keep up. The first time your shields fail, you will be consumed and have to begin again. I have been playing game of war fire age, for around 4 years now.I had enjoyed playing in my spare time and I also had a few friends playing as well.But over a very small period of time I found myself spending insane amounts of money on the CONSANT upgrades they come out with.They have designed there in app purchases to drain your wallet to progress in game, constantly giving you 50% 80% deals to start out making you believe your getting a great deal? I personally,and I am really embarrassed to admit, had spent over 3 thousand dollars in my time playing??Never been addicted to a game like it? Wouldn't recommend to my worse enemy....Recently dropped my gear and allowed kingdom to zero my account 900bill power,33bill troops...This game has the potential to ruin families,relationships, and pocket book lol… Expand

    If you are thinking about playing this one just move on to another game before you start, i reached 1.4 trillion in power before I came to my senses. If you have an issue customer service is among the worst I've ever seen in any company anywhere. The game glitches and lags so bad it's almost unplayable, get to many people on the same spot in the map and it becomes unplayable. Email MZ with a problem, they email you back restating the problem you just described, email back they restate your original complaint again and say thank you warrior. I've spent over 10K on this game and things have not changed, not to mention that it TAKES an additional 5 to 10K a year to stay relevant, it's a game for the super wealthy or those who are totally fiscally irresponsible. Once you max out everything they add something new increasing the max again and yeah it's expensive. As a result fo my experience with GOW I will never spend another cent with MZ or any affiliate they own or anyone they collaborate or partner with. They are greedy beyond measure and it's starting to catch up with them, as I know many trillion power players that have walked away in disgust this year.     this game was great a few months ago if you know what you were doing, you could build a decent trap and compete. since the release of the new bachus (spelling) core set, you're pretty much a sitting duck if you're under 100 mil.     Don't waste your time. This game is so lop sided in favor of pay to play players that you get crushed all the time. I have a SH22 account and was destroyed easily by a SH23. Game mechanics are horrible. I saw an enemy port next to my rss tile I was farming. I immediately hit "go home" yet I lost 93% of my troops (204,864 killed). It will take 4 months to replace them. Amazon offers a nice discount on the coins that saves about 20% on in app purchasing of resource packs but quite often the purchase communications does not flow through to Machine Zone. Then you are put in the middle with Amazon saying they sent the purchase to MZ so you must talk to them. Call MZDO NOT USE WITH ANY GAME SPONSORED BY MACHINE ZONE. i.e: Game of War or Mobile Strike. There are more glitches in the game than I can even remember. I have had hundreds of items disappear in game, and mz refused to do anything without screen shots. Customer Services just gave me a how to video guide as their response! Customer service is appalling. Don't bother with the game! I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars on this strangely addictive foolishness. This game has taken precious time away from me and everday I regret it. The people in your alliance hate MZs guts, the customer service is just F'd up brutal.Everyone....it is now Feb 2016. I play GoW. I am over 16 BILLION power. I feel that the game crashes so often on purpose so they can keep flashing their full page $99.99 advertisements in front of you at least 3x an hour. I feel its a psychological advantage to do this to get you to eventually go "hey, thats a pretty good deal!!!" i could literally own 30 or more Playstaion 4s for what I have spent. Its my fault, true. However, we come in play for a bit and get stuck, they offer you a $5 pack with a lot of supplies. You say, ok, its $5. No biggie. Then they pack goes to $20, you are stuck. You go....no biggie. Then you never see that again!!! Its 99.99 or you dont get supplies.....Eventually you hit that wall and start eyeballing that 99.99 pack with allll those goodies. Then you go.....ah, what the hell...Just once. But its not just once. The holiday comes up, they have super deals so you stock up and buy 2 or 3.....Now the flood gates have opened....You are in for the long haul.....No matter how much you try to get caught up, they keep creating more NEEDS so you keep chasing to get stronger and stronger and you need more and more money. Im fairly well off, but only the wealthiest people can thrive. Now they have research that starts at 13,000+ days. And no thats not a typo. The research cost on average 125.00 per increment and there can be as many as 20 at that price. The greed seems to just ooze from their pores...There is a remedy....its simple....just stay away.     My husband and I began playing this "free" game 2 years ago. We had previously played a very similar game. We got out of that game after spending too much money and going through too many arguments, and we vowed to never get tangled in something like that again.
    We quickly learned that it's really a "pay to advance" game, as the only way you can enjoy the game is by purchasing packs which have resources, gold, speed ups and materials which are used to make gear for your hero to wear and give it special talents and abilities. Examples of such gear would be construction gear to lower the amount of time it takes to upgrade a building and research gear which cuts time off your research projects.

    There will always be someone bigger than you, someone willing to spend more. Skill comes into play during Kill Events, to an extent. If you want to take another kingdoms "wonder" and be the rally leader you do Need to be quick, thorough, and have spent the cash to craft cores which is special gear for your hero. With that said, you need to have completed the associated research in order to use these cores as well as research to enable you to send the maximum amount of troops in your rally (an attack March coordinated with several alliance members). If you are not rallying the wonder and instead are rallying another players city (called a stronghold, or SH for short) there's less skill involved, but the same amount of money needs to be spent for your research, cores, March speeds, etc.

    MZ is constantly coming out with new hero gear, cores, and packages. That's the key word there... Packages. The packages are $100US and are 100% necessary if you want to actually get anywhere in the game. The reason they are necessary is because the research projects in the game can be thousands of days to complete ONE and there could be over a dozen in each tree. Yes, there are several research trees you must complete if you want to stand a chance in this game. To give you an example, the last tree MZ came out with was called Wild Troops. This is the 3rd category of troops and there are 4 different types in each category. Originally MZ only had 1 category, called t1-t4. Then they decided to come out with something called "strategic" troops to counter the "regular" ones. Now the wild troops are supposed to counter the strategic troops. See MZ's thought process? Just keep scheming, I mean dreaming up new troops to make you spend money. So... there were probably over 20 different types of research in this tree, each of which make you research 10 different levels in order to max the research. Well 9 of these researches cost between 9,500 up to over 11,000 days EACH just to go from level 9 to level 10. Now this isn't taking into consideration the amount of packages you will need to buy in order to get the materials you need in order to craft hero gear to help with these researches. After all this, just the other day MZ decided to release MORE research, now increasing the level of March research from 10 to now level 12 in order to max.

    What does this have to do with you spending and the amount you need to spend to stay competitive? Well let me give you my husband as an example. He's spent over $40,000 since he started. Yes, FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. That was BEFORE he decided he wanted to finish all his research. He made this bright decision the last week of November. Would you like to know how much he's spent in 2 months? Over $7000... That's OVER SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS, and that's all I know about. The last few nights he's been spending between $500-700 per night, topping at a bit over a $1000 one night.

    I've asked him to please stop and make a decision which is more important, me or the game. I guess you can figure out his decision based on my name.

    THIS GAME WILL RUIN YOU, RUIN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS, RUIN YOUR LIFE. Its nothing more than a money grab, something MZ tried to hide in the early days but now flaunts while laughing in your face. It's set up to make even the meekest of competitors spend their money, because the guarantee is the more you spend, the more powerful you will be.

    Please don't bother downloading this piece of garbage. If you're competitive, enjoy games, or are the least bit weak you will go bankrupt.    … Expand

Game of War will suck you in with it's incredibly awesome and dedicated community of players and its POTENTIALLY awesome design. It will chew you up with the insane cost to play competitively. Finally, it will spit you out when you realize the game isn't functioning properly and MZ mocks you with their canned responses and unwillingness to help. All MZ has done for the past several months is come up with new gimmicks to get players to spend while not supporting the functionality of the game whatsoever. Problems like lag and glitches in the game have gotten WORSE over time.
    I could go on for a long time about this app. Bottom line is do not attempt to play unless you've got lots of money AND TIME to quite literally throw away.     Word of advice from this former senior player :) If you're not planning on handing over your life savings to Machine zones be prepared to become another high player's resource farm. Be ready to use every gold that you can get your hands on peace shields rather than to use it to further help you to grow.     I was wrong. Some of my major issues with this game:
    * The more money you spend the worse the deals get( isn't that backwards?)
    * Spending money is a necessity to reach an average power level or above in a kingdom( realm/server). Do not believe people who say they have reached more than a billion power without spending money, it is a lie and not possible unless you play for years( the oldest servers are just under 3 years i believe). Here is why:
    - The amount of resources and silver required to do anything that gives power gains gets ridiculously high. Masteries cost millions of silver quickly. Silver is almost as rare as gold. It is hard to get in large quantities and you will stop producing silver at a low capacity. So you have to take the rest from other players, buy it, or attempt to farm it. Buying it with gold is the only way to get a reasonable amount in a reasonable time unless you are huge.
    - Researches and buildings will take millions of resources at each level. Though you dont stop producing at as low of level as silver you will quickly find you need more than you can actively produce from your buildings. Thus you are forced to farm it( which is slow), steal it from players( which is slower than farming unless you are already a huge player), or buy it.
    - Lets say you are about half way through the mastery and research trees and all your buildings are level 10 or higher. Masteries at this point with take days at least, weeks commonly and months are not rare. So far , half way through the mastery tree, ive had masteries that take over 200 days without boosts. Researches at this point can vary from about half a day to 3 months. Buildings take about 6 hours to a few days at this point. And im only half way. You can only do one mastery, one research, and one building at a time. Just to do a few of each at higher levels will take years not boosted. So the only way to get anywhere in reasonable time frame is to buy and use speedups.
    -Resources are vital to growing. Your storehouse at max level will only hold 2 million of each. You will need in the hundreds of millions and billions of resources to do various things once deeper in the game. The only way to protect your resources is to use peace shields. A 3 day piece shield with gold at a normal price is about $15. A 30 day peace shield is about $215 at normal gold prices. You can hit resource tiles and world monsters with an active shield, just not other players or tiles they are gathering on. It is possible to farm enough gold to keep buying 3 day shields, however this would take a lot of time and severely hinder your ability to gather resources. So your only choice is to stay shielded constantly. Which at the cheapest rate will cost you about $125 a month.
    - When you are attacked you will probably lose many of your troops and traps and maybe your hero. Wounded troops cost a decent amount of resources to make usable again. New troops and traps can take months to build back up without speed ups. If your hero is captured it will severely cripple you at higher level. If your hero is executed it will cost you about $40 at normal gold prices to get it back with a loss to xp.
    Many building require special items in quantity, you might get lucky and be able to get a few of these here and there through gifts and such but it will take you a very long time to get enough to build the buildings this way. All buildings require a special item for the last level that cost 2000 gold( about $12) per building. You cannot level your academy to 21 and thus finish many researches until you have about a dozen certain buildings to 21 including a few of the buildings that require special items to build.

    *If you do not keep a peace shield up in this game( and most alliances require you to have a constant peace shield unless you are actively attacking players) you will be farmed regularly.
    * The large alliances ( top 20) pretty much leach off the kingdom. You are either huge and in one of these or your a farm for them.

    The first problem is that it is wrongly named. What it should have been called is Credit Card Supremacy. The reason for my stating this will become more apparent as I continue down the line of problems. Game Play is simple enough and easy enough to get to level 15 with minimal use of purchased gold.     Game Play is simple enough and easy enough to get to level 15 with minimal use of purchased gold. This is where they hook you. You will feel as if they have made a somewhat decent game and why not buy a pack to help the programmers make a living.

    Up until level 20 game play becomes something that is nearly impossible without added gold. You need to buy gold to buy things like shackles, war bonds, picks, etc.. special things needed to upgrade buildings. Additionally the time to build starts going through the roof after level 15. If one were to try to fully build out their city to level 20 buildings sans boosts, which cost gold or come in packs which cost $$$. Then one could easily spend a couple of years on waiting on the build times.

    At level 20 the build times really start to go through the roof. The time to build a lvl 20 vila to level 21 is on the order of 25 days!!!

    Additionally no great game doesn't have a research tree. So at level twenty one can also expect research times to be through the roof such as Trap Defense lvl 9 >40 days!!!

    While on the subject of research trees. Lets talk about the taking of tedium to the Nth power by having >10 separate research trees. But you can only research one of these separate trees at a time.

    Tedium has arisen in the form of art in the structure of this game in that you don't just have troops. You have strategic troops and regular troops and you only have one barracks from which both spring forth. They are on different tabs but you can only train one category at a time and the there is no training queue.

    Crafting is an essential part of a lot of games. The makers of this game have taken the art form of Tedium that was brutishly distilled in the troops and refined it to a chunk of the purest and most toxic of tedium. First lets start with the materials used to craft. You have Cores, Pieces, Gems, Special Gems and Materials. If you buy a pack and it contains any trunks with Cores and Pieces beware. When you open those trunks they will flood into the core and pieces inventories which are limited in size. They are limited in size. These inventories are limited in size so that you have you again use gold to swap cores and pieces in and out of accessible inventory in order to use them. But wait you tell me, didn't I just pay for those pieces and cores and then I have to pay again in order to use them? Yep that's right! Not only did they refine tedium but they have also added a pinch of fraud into the mix.

    A lot has been said about how some players, apparently way too many of them have spent thousands of dollars in the game. What they also do not tell you is that any level player can attack any level of player. So the guy with 5 billion of power can repeatedly swoop in and trash all of your troops, traps, kidnap and murder your hero and take all of your resources, even if you are only 5 million in power. The only fix for this is to stay protected (bubbled). This of course costs gold which costs $. The point of this is stay bubbled you will get rolled again and again. The game is an exercise in credit card fueled bullying and anarchy.

    Lag Lag Lag - Did I say lag? Oh yes the game is plagued with lag and this lag can effect the balances of your gold and the things bought with gold and not in your favor. For instance I have seen this several times personally. It is possible to teleport ones city to another location. The lag can be so tremendous at times that it will appear as if your teleport didn't function. What actually did not function was that the database on the server hasn't updated and the graphics and database will still indicate that you are in the old position. So you do it again, again , again... Finally your city moves and you go to move again and where did all of the teleport that I paid for go?!?!?

    Going back to the topic of tedium and those wonderful chests full of goodies. You can end up with thousands of chests and each and every one of them will require you to tap on a "Use" button followed by another pop-up dialogue box that you have to close by tapping the X. When lagging this process can take from 15 to 30 seconds per chest. If you're not easily bored then this slow going tedium of opening chests is for you. There are only two work arounds that I know of and one of them I cannot confirm. Supposedly according to the customer support staff there is when I get to some certain point the availability of a button that will open all of the chests at once. I am betting that it is going to cost gold. The other is tap up to 3 chests quickly and in succession.

Specially now with everyone on LINE app. Not all are in for the cheating the game can also get addicting, specially if you are an R4 and are required to be constantly on for your alliance.

    I would have him let you read his Private Messages. If he has nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about. However, I would try to get him help to get out of the game if he is spending his 401K money. This game is not worth it because at the end of the day no one in the game cares about you or what you spent. I've been playing for 2 years, been there, done that. GOW also gets corrupted easily and then fails to load - requiring the user to delete the game and reinstall - on average about once a week. To make matters worse, Machine Zone has the WORST technical support that I've ever encountered - and I've been in product marketing in high tech industry for 25 years. They take a minimum of 10 days to respond to support request emails - and then be prepared to get and email stating "oops - this is embarassing - we didn't get all of your email" as a response. They do not reimburse players for troops or resources lost which are 100% due to the technical issues within the game - which has literally cost me thousands of dollars. I have spent $7,600 on this game and refuse to spend another penny on it. Machine Zone is extremely greedy and does not care about their customers. Even some of the largest companies know the value of treating customers well. My rating of game of war is based on the way Machine Zone treats customers (poor response to questions and complaints is an example).     Having played for almost a year I don't believe the two people here who claim they can have powerful accounts with nearly no money. The game is very addicting and was fun when I started playing. A million or two power was a big account. But as people became victims of Machine Zone's ability to pull you in many went crazy. As for MZ if something glitches and you don't get something you were supposed to, no mater how little value it would be for them to give it to you, they will run you around till you give up asking. They NEVER admit that the game might have glitched even though there is ample evidence every minute you play of messages to the server and back getting delayed and more. They just came out with new terms and conditions that are onerous and clearly slanted very much against the game player. Obviously you lot don't know how to stray this game without spending anything lol I'm 4bil power with only spending 20 quid lol you don't have to be rich haha. Someone else on here explained it very well about playing the inferno events. But there is also the kingdom event and solo event. An like he said you can build up your gold without buying a thing

    Game of War: Fire Age takes some important steps toward something truly revolutionary, but it lacks the gameplay advances to make it all the way there. It's likely to appeal to the same players who enjoyed the games that preceded it, yet it feels like a missed opportunity for everyone else.
