    FINAL FANTASY II

The highly anticipated follow-up to the original FINAL FANTASY, released in Japan in 1988.

FINAL FANTASY II features the bitter and beautiful tale of four war-orphaned heroes who become embroiled in the conflict between the hostile Empire of Palamecia and the rebel resistance. Eschewing conventional leveling for a proficiency system that allows players to tailor their characters' growth, and incorporating a key term memory system that makes dialogue integral to gameplay, this game sparked the spirit of innovation for which the series has become known.

This edition also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Rebirth and the Arcane Labyrinth.

As with Final Fantasy, this is a great purchase fans of RPGs, and this long running game series.

Final Fantasy I is still a better place to start whether you are a seasoned veteran or completely new to the series.

While the definitive versions of Final Fantasy II and II are still the versions available for PSP, these ports are decent enough to suffice if you don't have one.

I'm one of the few that dug Final Fantasy II (especially this remake), but even I have to admit that the balance and leveling system are pretty screwy, and kind of hold the game back.

It's a bit more confusing than its predecessor, though-the time spent wading through conversations and dealing with the bizarre levelling system isn't really fun. On the other hand, its story features actual characters, which is a nice change of pace.

I recommend Final Fantasy II primarily to existing fans that will enjoy seeing one of their favorites all dressed up and looking good on the iPhone. Newcomers are likely to be put off by the slower pace and proficiency system.

Final Fantasy II earns praise for its remastered visuals and updated gameplay, though it remains as off-putting as its original release.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was very well made. It had better gameplay than it's predecessor, the one thing I don't like is the difficulty curve at the final boss. Expand
