All things considered, however, most should hold out for "All-Star Baseball 2003" and hope the problems are corrected.
-
They got it all in there, it's just a little discordant and rough around the edges. And, despite the failings of this game, there is every reason to believe that All-Star Baseball 2003 will be the best console baseball game available next season.

Electronic Gaming MonthlyI love this games stinkin fast-pitch delivery. Facing a 98 mph heater has never been so intimidating (at least, in a video game). [Feb 2002, p.158]
-
Game InformerThe AI in this title is some of the worst Ive ever seen. [Feb 2002, p.87]
-
A ho-hum game with some annoying AI and marginal presentation. Despite its plethora of modes, it's simply not very fun.
-
It's those two Saturn World Series Baseball games that AllStar Baseball 2002 is most like. However, it too is missing that special ingredient, and falls on its face more than it succeeds.
-
ASB shines in every aspect, from its detailed, lifelike graphics to the in-depth stat tracking. All of the character animations are silky smooth.
-
[It] features a wealth of gameplay modes and an impressive amount of on-field control. But the game's AI quirks, challenging batting, and camera problems are indicative of a game that has been rushed to market.
-
If you're a baseball fan, you'll love the attention to detail in this game.
-
Some of the issues with the AI and lack of quality sound definitely hold its potential back.
-
The best thing about All-Star Baseball 2002 is definitely the gameplay.
-
All Star Baseball 2002 isn't perfect; there could be changes made in the hitting and fielding interfaces, but it is damn near perfect.
-
The game suffers from the same problem that has battled the franchise since its N64 days: it lacks full polish, and because of that one notices some crude AI glitches and animation problems.
-
Nintendo PowerASB 2002s unpolished fielding makes the game feel like its not quite ready for the big leagues. [Jan 2002, p.128]
-
What I found disappointing was that the games features just don't match the N64 version.
-
Seems rushed and incomplete.
-
Even for a baseball game it's boring.
