While it may not have the depth and grandeur some would look for, it has enough character to stand out from the other licensed titles.
-
Perhaps the best aspect of the game is that you will care a lot about collecting treasure.
-
Nintendo PowerAt times, the game seems to focus more on mundane wandering around than on interesting pirate activity, but the action picks up as the story progresses. [Sept 2003, p.137]
-
The production values are all in place and a game couldnt ask for better sounds or graphics, but in this case they are wasted on a simple exploration game with occasional and simplistic combat.
-
Had the game put a little more attention on the weapon combat it would have been a lot more fun, but as it is the battle between pirate vs. pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean is a basic and tedious button-masher.
-
Game InformerThis lack of depth, coupled with the weak combat and repetitive levels, equals a pirate game that won't even manage to steal away an hour of your precious time. [Sept 2003, p.126]
-
It be a poor portrayal of the pirate's life, says I.
