The only thing you'll be jamming is your head into a wall. [Summer 2002, p.38]
  2. One of those innocuous little programs that can entertain for minutes or hours. It has range of play, solid animation and sound, and high-flying action.
  3. The lack of a link-cable option, the limiting of power-ups to the jam mode, and an absence of mid-shot passing are the three problems that ultimately keep NBA Jam 2002 from attaining all-star status.
  4. Nintendo Power

Superb sound effects and fast, insane "on-fire" action is classic Jam through and through. [Feb 2002, p.154]
  5. It can't compare to the original NBA Jam. While the gameplay is good in most respects the control scheme is aging and the physics and AI need some improvement as well.

This one stinks of yesterday's diapers.
  7. 20
One of the worst developed games on the system thus far.
  8. Game Informer
    13
You cannot fathom just how putrid Jam is. [May 2002, p.89]
  9. The average replay value I’d approximate for any player of this game would be no more than five minutes. Heck, halfway through one game, you won’t even want to finish the game.
  10. Jam fans will find the move to the Advance didn't really make the experience any better.
  11. An atrocious two-on-two basketball game that's completely devoid of the excitement and energy of its namesake.

Easily the worst game I have ever played on the GBA.
