What are you people, crazy?!! This is possibly one of the best GBA games there is to date, why would you guys think it sold out almost as fast as Halo 2 on its release date. Truly a game worthy of the name "the best there is." Too short, too boring, not enough real action. Bosses are insanely hard. Bring back Metal Slug 2 & 3!

This is probably as close to a true Metal Slug game as the GBA could (or will) possibly get. The "insanely hard" bosses, as in all Metal Slug games, have discernible patterns and can be bested with some trial and error. Amazingly, most of the weapons of the previous games are intact. The "insanely hard" bosses, as in all Metal Slug games, have discernible patterns and can be bested with some trial and error. Amazingly, most of the weapons of the previous games are intact. The more gruesome death animations and blood have been cut out, but in turn The Slug seems as alive and "breathing" as ever, a trademark animation style of the series. Many top-tier GBA games have been said to be too short (Metroid, Castlevania). The trend to alleviate this problem has been the card-collecting aspect. This game is no different, and some cards are quite fun to play with, and change the landscape of the game a smidge...but this fun tinkering won't last as long as it will take for the sequel to come out. A great ride while it lasts, like most great GBA games. Expand

Awesome game, however most of the bosses are insanely hard even on 'normal' mode (which is the easiest mode they have) and can get really frustrating....I haven't tried 'hard' mode but it's probably impossible.

I really loved the PS versions, but this one is good for a portable device, it has everything that fan's wil like and love,. Oh and also funny looking at those helpless soldiers.

Me encanta.

The Advance gets a tailor-made version of the classic run and gunner that plays like a kind of Contra-lite. And it works.

What with the outstanding gameplay, the longevity of playing the beautiful levels over and over and the cracking sound effects, I say get Metal Slug Advance! It may be the greatest 2D shooter to hit the Advance.

It's a challenging game, but that's Metal Slug for you - everything you liked about the previous games, you'll find here, and that's no small feat on a small platform. [Feb 2005, p.103]
  3. In the short time it takes for you to complete it, you'll probably experience a few unique adrenaline pumping moments that will inevitably bring a smile to your face. Don't worry, for an action game-.no, a Metal Slug game, it's only natural.
