S.HakkendenSep 10, 2003Gekido is on first play a fun and exiting take on the old Final Fight style of gamplay, with some fantastic anime elements, however it soon tires and becomes dull. Not for 'casual gamers.'

JoseG.Nov 15, 2004I like this game for 15 mins!! the Graphics are nice..it animates pretty well. but its so boring and repetitive!! The music isnt all that great either, not to say that it is horrible, but you wont find yourself humming to the tunes. anway, this game sux! stay away unless your really bored!

Jun 16, 2016A very underrated beat em up, this one adds elements like power-ups and the ability to explore different routes, it also has some nice music and cut-scenes, however boss fights are very unforgiving, the kind of game that doesn't let you **** up too much, don't play if you're a casual gamer.

Kintaro's Revenge is a highly likable and fun game that adds something extra to the template of the forgotten genre, the sideways scrolling beat 'em up.

TotalGames.netThe backdrops, too, are marvellous and the ancient Japanese feeling is matched perfectly with a slow and unsettling score. Whenever you are ambushed, this is quickly replaced with an adrenaline-inducing rush of beats, and you'll find yourself dragon-punching in rhythm to the music.

Nintendo PowerAnime-style cut scenes with simple animation and written text help give Gekido a dramatic edge over other street fighters in the "Final Fight" vein. [Dec 2003, p.150]
