GeoffB.Apr 2, 2003As an old-hand at the D&D Goldbox series, this is a wonderful romp in the style of those old games. I'm quite happy with it, though someone not into the old games might not like it.

EvanE.Apr 4, 2003Although this D&D game does'nt have very good graphics the gameplay is ok i wouldn't reccomend this game if you have played D&D on the computer as you might expect too much.

StefanB.Jan 15, 2003Very very very disappointing. No subclasses like bard, monk, etc. It took me approx. 6 hours to win with no replay value at all. All 10 levels of weak gameplay would fit on a single sheet of graph paper.

BillM.Mar 1, 2003If you're a graphics nut or details oriented must have, then don't try the game. If you enjoy D&D rules and just like to dungeon crawl, it's a good time. Many people nowadays expect too much from a hand held game. Be glad the option to play an old fashioned paper to screen D&D game is even out there.

MikeP.Mar 18, 2004I dont know why anyone would do this to a game.

MannyJ.May 19, 2005If you are new to gaming and I mean don't understand the term paper rpg than don't buy the game. If you enjoy a classic story and a lot of D&D rules on one small chip than u should already own it.

seanSep 1, 2005Graphics aren't the best, but as a D&D fan isn't that bad.

PurpletNov 8, 2004I've played EOB series on the PC at least a billion times. This is nowhere near. The problem aren't the graphics, which is more than enough, or longevity. The problem are immense gameplay issues, boring turn based combats, slow advancement and bad rules (or the implementation thereof). Thumbs down.

Pocket GamesA very solid, entertaining, and visually satisfying tribute to the RPG genre. [Spring 2003, p.31]

Can be very addictive despite its many flaws. Its hard to recommend to the average gamer though, with sub-par graphics, sound, and gameplay issues.

If you have the patience to overlook its technical shortcomings and master its quirks, Eye of the Beholder is actually a pretty decent dungeon-crawling experience to take on the road with you.
