    A real music sequencer for the Nintendo 3DS (and DSi too, I guess.) This is the ultimate program for making music on the Nintendo. You can make sequences like a MIDI sequencer. You can play solos in the solo mode. You can build songs in the pattern mode. It is sample-based, but it has envelopes and such that give you a lot of the capabilities of a full synthesizer, and the vibrato,A real music sequencer for the Nintendo 3DS (and DSi too, I guess.) This is the ultimate program for making music on the Nintendo. You can make sequences like a MIDI sequencer. You can play solos in the solo mode. You can build songs in the pattern mode. It is sample-based, but it has envelopes and such that give you a lot of the capabilities of a full synthesizer, and the vibrato, portamento, and echo features really add a lot to the sound. The sequencing has a huge ton of editing features that I don't think any of the other programs have. But the thing that it does that nothing else does is let you change the key of your sequence. That makes it so much easier to build songs and perform them.

    Feature-rich software to make your own music. If you ever used a sequencer, you know the basic of it. While the provided samples seem to favor the more retro-style sound (8-bit, commodore, DOS, Atari) there are also some more "modern samples". However, due to the more retro feel of the samples, making modern-day electronic music exactly is a bit hard, if not impossible. But even then someFeature-rich software to make your own music. If you ever used a sequencer, you know the basic of it. While the provided samples seem to favor the more retro-style sound (8-bit, commodore, DOS, Atari) there are also some more "modern samples". However, due to the more retro feel of the samples, making modern-day electronic music exactly is a bit hard, if not impossible. But even then some people have made some cool sounds (even dubstep), giving it a cool 8-bit vibe. Throw in envelopes (allowing you to manipulate the samples to your liking) and the sky is the limit.

    Even better are the functionalities making your music sound good, even if you are not that musical. The program allows you to set and change the scale of what you are playing. What this means is that going through chord progressions is easy and it usually sounds good (as the program locks the notes to the current scale). Also, when soloing around, the program allows you to record it and automagicallymatches your notes to the beat. This can be irritating when you want to solo a bit more freely, but that is the case with all sequencers.

    Is it a real professional suite? No, not in the slightest. But it gives you a great tool to try out ideas, thinker around with different sounds or just relax and do some live performance for yourself or others. Still, even pro's can use it to try out their stuff on the go. The program has the ability to export midi, so importing your drafts in your professional software is a breeze.

    I feel obliged to "warn" potential users that I had two crashes with the game, causing me to lose my project. Still not entirely sure it is to blame on the software or my SD card (brand new, no bad sectors).    … Expand

    Offering a high degree of freedom and control in not only the creation of a song but in what to do with it once written as well, Rhythm Core Alpha 2 is quite possibly the most complete music package on DSiWare.
