    This is peak pokemon. It encompasses everything that the pokemon series does well. Not only did it remake one of the most loved generations of the series, it also added stuff from other generations and added plenty of extra activities to enjoy.

A comparacion de los Originales, esta nueva implementacion solo promueve indirectamente la avaricia que Game freak intento dar como algo Bueno, cada elemento solo funciona dentro de su Epoca y Nunca como Concepto Inovador, ya que la Franquicia ya lo hizo en la Gen 1 con Amarillo y su contenido Adicional es mas Disfrutable dentro de Crystal (Pese a lo que piense la Mayoria)

    De resto posee todas las Virtudes que Gamefreak le habia puesto empeño en el pasado como a su Banda sonora, mecanicas llamativas y su Atmosfera tipo Sinnoh (Aunque esta con su mismo error del ritmo lento)    … Expand

    I personally would say Heartgold and Soulsilver are the second-best Pokemon games of all-time, easily, in my opinion, but they do have their flaws which are pretty glaring. Although the large amounts of passion and drive to develop the series further and provide more than any fan could have ever wished for shows in the game.

    Este juego es Pokémon puro. Me encanta, un mapa enorme, un protagonista bueno, una gran música, excelentes Pokémon, todo es muy bueno. Lo único malo son los Pokémon salvajes, muy débiles, no se puede subir de nivel.

    Buen remake del Pokémon oro, lo que me dejo fascinado es que haya dos regiones de en vez de una, la música sigue siendo igual de buena, y el diseño de los pokémon estaban buenos.

As an upgraded version of Gold, you can do everything you could do back then, whilst also being able to catch up to Gen 4 Pokemon, and allowing a Pokemon to follow you around one at a time, among other new features. HeartGold feels like anOf all video games I have played, the Pokemon series offers one of the most perfect gameplay experiences to me. HeartGold is the best example of this. As an upgraded version of Gold, you can do everything you could do back then, whilst also being able to catch up to Gen 4 Pokemon, and allowing a Pokemon to follow you around one at a time, among other new features. HeartGold feels like an epic adventure, as you gradually level up, and move on to the next town, each with it's own unique layout. Ecruteak City to this day remains one of my favorite video game locations ever, due to it's rooted history and complex atmosphere that embodies the rich culture of Johto. Blackthorn City is relatively secluded from the other areas, giving it a sense of mysteriousness. Even post-game, there is a lot of extra content offered that will entertain for hours on end. Pokemon HeartGold is a remake of a previous game Pokemon Gold for the Gameboy Color from 1999 with new features made to adapt to the then new Nintendo DS system. This game was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo like every game in the Pokemon series before it. This game was released in the same “generation” of games as Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and as such is compatible with both of those games.

    The gameplay of Pokemon HeartGold is the same as any traditional Pokemon game. The player takes control of a new trainer in the Johto region and journeys across the region capturing and training Pokemon to become the best trainer in the region. Throughout the game the player is constantly leveling up the Pokemon they have caught in order increase the statistics and take on stronger challengers. The game also uses a menu-based combat system where each trainer takes their turn to command their Pokemon to use moves in order to take down or capture the opposing Pokemon. This is typical of all main series Pokemon games.

    The plot of Pokemon HeartGold is also typical of the main series games. The player takes control of a new trainer who has just moved to a region and journeys to become the Pokemon champion using battling rivals and a criminal organization along the way. The one thing that differentiates Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver from other Pokemon games would be its continuity in regards to the original games. In Pokemon HeartGold, once the player defeats the champion of the Johto region they travel to the Kanto region, the setting of the original Pokemon games. There the player can explore the entire region of the previous game and defeat the same bosses from the original games. The plot also draws from previous games by having the criminal organization that the player takes on being the villains from the original Pokemon games. One of the most memorable original moments that this game features is having the last opponent that the player must defeat be the protagonist from the original games. The game did everything it could to improve on some of the elements of the original and kept all of the elements that made the game unique among the series.

    The aesthetic of Pokemon HeartGold could be classified as the aesthetic of Pokemon games in general as the series began in 1996 and set a lot of examples for future games in that series. The look of the game can be described as a somewhat 3D pixel art style in the majority of the gameplay with more detailed sprites in the battle elements of the game. The soundtrack of the game is always made to fit certain situations in the game itself. More natural areas will have relaxing melodies that are calming, water areas will usually have a more sweeping soundtrack that makes the player want to explore, and battles will often have a loud melody playing that is meant to amp the player up and make them more invested in the battle. The two main regions in Pokemon HeartGold, Johto and Kanto, are based off the Japanese regions of Kansai and Kanto respectively. As such, many have found geographical similarities between the regions in the game and their real world counterparts such as the game’s Mount Silver being based on Mount Fuji. Cultural influences can also be found in the Pokemon themselves as many are based on real life objects or animals and some being based off myths and legends. Some examples would include the legendary Pokemon Ho-oh being based off the legend of the phoenix or the fox Pokemon Ninetails being based off legends of a trickster spirit known as the kitsune.

    The original demographic of the Pokemon franchise was mainly children between the ages of around five and eleven, and that has remained mostly the same. The Pokemon games are still made for children with a style and gameplay that is simple enough for children to understand, but the series also appeals to nostalgic adults. This is due to the fact that these games are remakes of games that these adults would have played as children, and the remakes of these games capture that sense of fun and adventure they felt as a child with newly implemented features and improvements.

    My overall opinion of the game is as follows. Pokemon HeartGold did everything that it set out to do. It is the perfect example of remake. Pokemon HeartGold captures all of the elements that made the original Pokemon Gold great such as the addition of the Kanto region and the inclusion of a continued plot with Team Rocket while still updating the graphics and art style to fit in with more recent Pokemon games. If you were a fan of the original Pokemon Gold or just a fan of the Pokemon series in general, Pokemon HeartGold is a perfect addition to the franchise. If you are not a fan of the Pokemon series, you will most likely not enjoy the game as it does nothing to change the Pokemon game formula. If you are new to the series, I would recommend this game as a great way to begin the series.    … Expand

    Though it won't win the series as many Pokefans as the originals did in the '90s, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are handy additions to the franchise. Pros: Variety of Pokemon to catch and places to explore; wireless battling and trading; Pokewalker. Cons: Formulaic; some of the rewritten gameplay or dialogue is ridiculous.

    I played Gold and Silver before, and I can say that this is a big improvement and it has nostalgic values to it. The new system re-strategizes the game, making it an even better and harder than the older one.

    I played Pokémon White before I played HeartGold. Where Pokémon White wasn't very challenging, Pokémon HeartGold did. This is easily my favourite Pokémon game. And I didn't even get the Pokéwalker!

    This is one of the games with the greatest replay value I've ever played. I'm among the ones that think pokemon did get weird with time and they should have stopped creating weird stuff. In heartgold, however, we deal mostly with old pokemon as well as new ones, and you can revisit the beautifully recreated Kanto region and there are many many side quests that are almost as fun as the mainThis is one of the games with the greatest replay value I've ever played. In these two games, history is repeating itself, as you are transported back to Johto, and reminded of the terrible havoc unleashed ten years ago... the same havoc that you created. The same havoc that you need to vanquish. Players of all ages will be delighted with the new and improved graphics and sound once before heard. One returning feature from Pokémon Yellow is that the lead Pokémon can now walk beside, in front, and behind you, and since this is a remake of a second generation game, the sprites of the Pokémon that you encounter, along with the players' and items', will be upgraded dramatically. Overhead views, as well as the battle sequence, stay unaltered.
    HeartGold also includes the Pokéwalker, a pedometer that acts as a Pokéball, as it transforms the steps taken into experience points, watts (to buy routes), and to establish a friendly relationship with your Pokémon. It is a reincarnation of Amity Square in Sinnoh. Also, a key item that players obtain after winning sixteen gym badges and/or completing the game is imperative for veterans to obtain, although used at will. The "GB Sounds" promises a soundtrack nostalgic of the past and combines it with modern day music, allowing players to recreate and continue their adventure from so long ago. The soundtrack from this particular, radio-shaped item replaces the in-game music (battle and background) with 8-bit tracks from the original Gold and Silver entirely, making for a trip down memory lane that is completely and continually worthwhile.

    Those features are just a few of several. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, boy or girl, novice or veteran, to appreciate what Game Freak and Nintendo have done for us Pokémon fans, by turning back time and developing/producing a new fabric out of old material. It just goes to show that if it looked good on the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, it'll look great on the Nintendo DS. This game is a must for players who have retained either their memories from the past, or the cartridge itself. In addition, players of the original Silver should indulge in HeartGold. The same is agreed for Gold players to purchase SoulSilver. This way, every player will have the chance to capture and battle with Pokémon different than that whom they had gotten before.    … Expand

    Pokemon Gold on the Gameboy colour was the first Pokemon game I have played and I also consider it my favourite out of all of them. Getting an upgraded version of the best Pokemon game ever was a godsend. HeartGold captures what made Gold so great and with a 4th Generation upgrade, it was even better than I imagined. Out of all the 5 generations of Pokemon, nothing has ever topped the 2ndPokemon Gold on the Gameboy colour was the first Pokemon game I have played and I also consider it my favourite out of all of them. Getting an upgraded version of the best Pokemon game ever was a godsend. HeartGold captures what made Gold so great and with a 4th Generation upgrade, it was even better than I imagined. Out of all the 5 generations of Pokemon, nothing has ever topped the 2nd Generation in my eyes and this game proves it. This game is just complete.     I am a 90's kid and always will be. Pokemon was the first rpg that I really got into so it makes since that I would love everything they have ever made. Well I do like most of the games my favorite Pokemon title, I love Pokemon Gold. Its my favorite game of all time and I have played it hundreds of times, so when I heard that there was going to be a remake I was really happy and eager. II am a 90's kid and always will be. Pokemon was the first rpg that I really got into so it makes since that I would love everything they have ever made. Well I do like most of the games my favorite Pokemon title, I love Pokemon Gold. Its my favorite game of all time and I have played it hundreds of times, so when I heard that there was going to be a remake I was really happy and eager. I even started playing the old version before the game released so I knew that whole game front to back. The game was released and I was the first person in line to buy it at my gamestop. I played that game for a week straight and when I say I played it straight I mean I only played that game nothing else. I loved the remake! Forever and always it will be my favorite remake of a Pokemon game and as of right now its my favorite remake of all time. The Graphics were amazing, the songs made me feel so nostalgic. The story was and always will be the best part of this game, it is a really great story and no one will ever till me other wise. I have my problems with this game, I didn't like the new generations of Pokemon. Generation two is bad because of how the Pokemon look terrible. I know that I could never make a Pokemon sprite and I never will even try to but I also know that most of my friends hate gen two and feel that they are kinda lazy. Besides how the Pokemon, the game is flawless. I wanted a Pokemon yellow remake and trust me if I had the funds and the skills to make said game I would. But the fact that gamefreak choice what was suppose to be one of the two last Pokemon game to be a remake, is nuts to me because there are a lot of fans of ruby, sapphire, and emerald. I am the only person that would live in Johto and deal with team rocket taking over my favorite radio channel, having three giant dogs run a muck in my neighborhood, and have criminals who are border line terrorist take over what is the biggest city in the country just because I want to walk down those routes. Its not just a game to me its what addicted me to rpg's and rpg's addicted me to video games. I am who I am because of this game. I recommend this game and will never go back on what I said on this review.… Expand

    40$ and i have played this game for 700 hours! 2 regions, having pokemon walk behind you, the new mechanics gen 3 and 4 introduced, fantastic soundtrack, 14 legendary's without events, the ability to catch the mascot that wasn't on your cover, a gigantic postgame and the inclusian of gen 3 and 4 pokemon, more to the point the gen 3 main legends all help to make this my favorite pokemon and40$ and i have played this game for 700 hours! 2 regions, having pokemon walk behind you, the new mechanics gen 3 and 4 introduced, fantastic soundtrack, 14 legendary's without events, the ability to catch the mascot that wasn't on your cover, a gigantic postgame and the inclusian of gen 3 and 4 pokemon, more to the point the gen 3 main legends all help to make this my favorite pokemon and DS game to date. It's unfortunate to me to say it but it just doesn't stand the test of time: the charm, style, music and design of the original GSC games is completely absent, replaced by safe, boring music that's not even a fraction of how memorable the original was, generic sprites and an ugly overworld that doesnt make good use of what the ds could do. Worse: it has good aditionsHighly overrated. It's unfortunate to me to say it but it just doesn't stand the test of time: the charm, style, music and design of the original GSC games is completely absent, replaced by safe, boring music that's not even a fraction of how memorable the original was, generic sprites and an ugly overworld that doesnt make good use of what the ds could do. Worse: it has good aditions actually locked away through events that are now impossible to get, entire story bits no less that could have made the game better and more unique, not just event pokemon. The level scaling is also made worse than before despite the aditions its gen had.
    I recommend Crystal instead for the better Johto experience unless you really want the pokewalker app (nowadays hard to get) or want to transfer your cyndaquil to newer games.    … Expand

    I was a fan of pokemon since the 3th generation and i must admit that no matter how old i get, i like the franchise. So when a remake was announced i was excited. When the game came out, it was pretty good, i do not have much to say about it. You see i usually talk to much about a bad game so the only answer you're going to get is: This game is worth a buy.

    Besides the terrible level curve. It has the same bad distribution from the GS games and basically fixed nothing: every single problem is back, but with the ugly sprites from the dp games. The legendaries were shoving in at inconvenient places, ruining their original lore completely.

    Pokémon Blue was the first ever video game I played. I was 6 at the time and from that moment on I kept playing all the Pokemon games in the main series and I can say Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, are the best Pokemon games ever made. I feel the problem with the more recent Pokemon games is the amount of unnecessary legendary Pokemon thrown into the games but since Pokemon HGSS is aPokémon Blue was the first ever video game I played. Pokemon G/S/C are widely considered the best Pokemon games for their time and their addictive gameplay still shines through with HG/SS. There are its minor flaws, such as very few Trainer rematches, a lot of low leveled stuff, frustrating legendaries and in my opinion not enough new Pokemon. But this game redelivers what Gold and Silver originally did to make it even better! Team Rocket, while kind of a joke made the story great. The musicI simply love this game!     The best region/map of any Pokémon with the WORST selection of Pokémon. The way to really enjoy this game is to trade over a team of level 5 guys from the start. I always have to wait until I have 6 or 7 badges before I can catch anything actually worth training.

(I loved this in Xenoblade 2 as well, but this is a Pokemon review) + Post-Game: By far the best Pokemon post-game    This game was my first Pokemon game and by far my favorite.     Pros:
    + Walking around: How did a Pokemon game make walking around with more than just one character fun? (I loved this in Xenoblade 2 as well, but this is a Pokemon review)
    + Post-Game: By far the best Pokemon post-game
    + Gyms: Honestly, these are the only gyms I liked out of the franchise.
    + Safari Zone: The customization was excellent and I loved that you had to earn the extra secret areas.
    + Variety: Best variety in a Pokemon game ever.
    + Legendaries: The return of older legendaries was sweet, though the Arceus-event only methods of getting lvl 1 Sinnoh ones sucks.

    Mix:
    = Soundtrack: One of the better Pokemon soundtracks, but still, not too memorable (2nd best champion theme though).
    = Gameplay: Same as others, except minus Z-Moves and Megas (which both are overrated anyways).

    I am an addictive pokemon fan, but after playing the original gold and silver, Heart Gold and Soul Silver seem tiresome and predictable. The pokewalker is an amazing addition to the game, but it's same old pokemon all over again.

I believe they could have added more features. The Pokethelon just isn't that much fun and I think they could have enhanced the Wifi features a tad. I also love the feature Gamefreak added by allowing your pokemon to follow you, but they should have added a feature to turn it off for gamers it doesn't appeal to. All in all, Pokemon Heart Gold/ Soul Silver is a great game; or should I say, Pokemon Gold and Silver are still great games today, they just look better now on a DS.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game, I say is truely a great game for beginners. Why? It has the beautiful Johto region AND the awesome Kanto region. Here is my review: *8/10*

    Story (8/10): The story is like all the others, you wake up in your house with only you and your mother there. You eventually go outside and you go get your starter, and start your adventure. Simple, huh? Not really. The story includes pokemon bandits,gym leaders, a rival, and sidequests. A LOT OF SIDEQUESTS.

    Gameplay(7/10): The gameplay is as usual. Simple controls, and always the same thing, 8 gyms, an Elite 4, a champion, and a after-story. The after story is quite nice actually. You get to go to another region, Kanto region, collect 8 more badges, collect the Kanto and Hoenn starters, capture new pokemon, AND fight a surprize final boss.

    Pokemon(9/10): . This game has a wide variety of pokemon, so you always have newer pokemon to catch, 493 in all. Each version has different pokemon, so thats good, but bad. It's bad because you need another version to trade over an exclusive. What REALLY makes the games different, are the legendary pokemon. Thats what makes each other pokemon special in their own kind. This game has the legendary Fire/Flying type pokemon.

    Soundtrack(7/10): This game has an awesome soundtrack. Remakes from the old gameboy versions. This game reallylifts my spirits up with that.

    Graphics(6/10): Good. Just good. Its REALLY good at the Legendary Pokemon scene, but thats only once in the game, so it would've got a better score if it would have shown scenes like that more.    … Expand

But, somehow, I was compelled to keep going, seeking out the rarer Pokemon and pushing through each of the gyms to win the badges. I still don't understand why I felt the compulsion, but now I know at least that there is SOMEthing about the series that addicts fans.

    Not having played any other version, I can't comment on how it compares, but I intend one day to try one of the later versions (perhaps I'll go to Black and Black 2 before trying the upcoming Moon on 3DS) and as I stated at the start I initially had no interest and found the games boring and pointless - that this has changed my mind leads me to recommend it to any non-fan at the least, as a good way to find out that there is a little magic in Pokemon should you give it the chance.    … Expand

    This is the sequel to Fire Red/Leaf Green we needed, now we don’t have to go back and play the (because of these much better versions) outdated Gen 1 and 2 games.
    Honestly I would never recommend anyone the original Gen 1 and 2 games unless they like messing around with the glitches (which admittedly is pretty fun)

    I never played through Gold and Silver so the nostalgia played no part. This game was undoubtedly what started my love for Pokémon. It looks great, feels great and has just a few ‘little things’ that make it spectacular. Most games nowadays are great but lack the little things, such as having your partner follow you and the little detail here and there.     Pokemon Gold & Silver were wonderful games for the GBC and Game Freak created a amazing Remake with Heartgold & Soulsilver. For me they were the BEST Editions of Pokemon (at least until now).

    But by god, if any Pokemon games got close, they would be HeartGold and SoulSilver.

There's a new Safari Zone, a Battle    I hesitate to call any game "perfect." In fact, I don't really think a "perfect game" really exists.

There's a new Safari Zone, a Battle Frontier, and so many new events and things to do thrown in that just calling these games remakes doesn't do them justice.
    The only real problem with the games is the level curve. It was pretty bad in the originals and it persists here. But that's a really minor problem, especially considering how much these games do well.
    These two games are, hands-down, the best Pokemon has to offer. I would be thoroughly impressed if Gamefreak could top these games, but I certainly invite them to try.    … Expand

    perfect game. easily one the best pokemon games of all time, and is definitely the best remake. they actually did more than the bare minimum, unlike some really bad gen 4 remakes that came out recently.

    Pokemon Gold on the Gameboy colour was the first Pokemon game I have played and I also consider it my favourite out of all of them. Getting an upgraded version of the best Pokemon game ever was a godsend. HeartGold captures what made Gold so great and with a 4th Generation upgrade, it was even better than I imagined. Out of all the 5 generations of Pokemon, nothing has ever topped the 2ndPokemon Gold on the Gameboy colour was the first Pokemon game I have played and I also consider it my favourite out of all of them. Getting an upgraded version of the best Pokemon game ever was a godsend. HeartGold captures what made Gold so great and with a 4th Generation upgrade, it was even better than I imagined.     I have never loved Pokemon games, but I enjoyed this game a good amount. I think the game is still bogged down by some frustrating mechanics (I have always hated the random encounters), but generally the moment to moment gameplay is pretty fun. The map is pretty solid and the visuals are also pleasant to look at. I don’t think I would replay the game again unless I did a nuzlocke or someI have never loved Pokemon games, but I enjoyed this game a good amount.     Very polished yet grindy game. Progression is good until 8th gym and E4 where you need some preparation. Post E4 is really rewarding for players that played Kanto before. Problem is no good way to grind new pokemons when you run out of trainers. I like addition of new pokeballs in shops. The towns are lovingly remade and made more distinct, the remixes are interesting new takes on the songs, and the game is jam packed; With 16 gyms, rematches, battle frontier, and side activities like theSimply put ,this game is a masterpiece for Pokemon. The original content was left intact as well as elements from Crystal version - and a ton of new features brought to the table. The towns are lovingly remade and made more distinct, the remixes are interesting new takes on the songs, and the game is jam packed; With 16 gyms, rematches, battle frontier, and side activities like the pokeathlon which has a surprising amount of effort put into it.
    The game also comes with a pokewalker accesory to give you something to do even when not playing. There's just so much to do, and it's hard to fault the games outside of the weirdly low level curve which was a flaw of the originals. The postgame and side content more than makes up for that in my opinion though. So much better than the remakes we get today.    … Expand

    The big overrated Pokémon game. Story is bad as hell (if it has any), difficulty is null, postgame is boring being Kanto almost empty, but better than the original versions.

    This game is the genwunner exhaust outlet to defend they're not genwunners because they like something from almost 10 years ago.

    Best Pokemon game ever made. The 4th gen mechanics are still the most superior to date, the graphics, music, story, everything is exactly what you want from a Pokemon game. The ability to explore Kanto is the cherry on top.

    This games... Are the best that the pokémon franchise has to offer. Beautiful designed creatures, the longest post-game' experience, the best story of any pokémon game... A true piece of art. Thank you gamefreak for this experience, which I will always hold in a special place of my mind.

    The definitive Pokémon 4th generation Game, and probably one of the best Nintendo titles ever created. Graphics are top notch, same goes for the game's speed; the music and the story are just fantastic, fairly improved since the 2nd generation games. This title represents one of the happiest memory of my childhood, and i liked it to the point that Ho-Oh became my favourite Pokémon, and itThe definitive Pokémon 4th generation Game, and probably one of the best Nintendo titles ever created. Graphics are top notch, same goes for the game's speed; the music and the story are just fantastic, fairly improved since the 2nd generation games.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver are incredibly faithful games! A bit too faithful though. So much so that it prevents me from fully enjoying the colorful graphics and the soothing remixed music. The sluggish grinding mechanics really kills the adventure, especially halfway through the game. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced trainer. These dated experience gaining tropes are responsible for turning perfectly fine role playing games into electronic chores.

    So why do people enjoy this game so much? Well if you look close enough, you can see just how many gimmicks this game harbors. From strolling with your first slot Pokemon, to the Pokewalker, to the Pokeathlon mini games, to the customizable safari zone, when is comes to simply bonding with your favorite Pokemon...this game excels at adding a lot of heart to experience.

    Its great and all that I can really bond with the Pokemon of Johto to this degree, but the actual gameplay is so by the numbers that rather than feeling like an evolution of generation two's ideals, it feels more like a copy and paste job of what was considered enjoyable gameplay for the time. I'm challenging every trainer in the game, collecting all the rare candies, and it's still not enough to match the levels of the Elite Four or the Kanto Gym leaders.

    All of these wild Pokemon are far too low weak. You would have to slay armies just to stand a chance against the upper class. I would rematch the trainers, but its such a complicated process of contacting them on certain days of the week with luck based mechanics, that I'd rather waste time slaying Miltank by the waterfall, on Route forty seven. I really want to enjoy this game. But every once in a while, when I go to take a photo with my prized team I start to wonder, "Is this really enough?"

    The best Johto Pokemon like Houndour and Murkrow still live in Kanto exclusively. Building a decent team still feels as limited as it did in the original games. Most of the gym leaders are nothing special, their teams are only difficult to defeat due to how limited the Johto Pokedex is. For Arceus' sake, Bugsy doesn't even evolve his cocoon Pokemon! And remember that great move tutor system from Platinum? that's now available in the battle frontier in the post game...and you have to pay a truckload of battle points in order to use it. Have fun using the elemental punches again!

    I feel so weak in this game, even with a team with decent move sets, I never felt comfortable during this journey. I could never sit down and enjoy the set pieces like the shiny Gyarados, the secret rocket base, or the Glitter Lighthouse. I was sick of fighting the same Pokemon consecutively. One of the worst fights in the game is against Executive Petrel and his army of Koffing and Weezing. I don't have any trouble defeating him and yet I feel so tired.

    This game needed fixing, not just a new coat of paint. I can't even challenge the Battle Frontier because I am unable to properly prepare for those challenges. How are trainer supposed to help there Pokemon grow with these horrible grinding methods. Johto's Victory Road contains Pokemon in their early to late thirties, while Sinnoh's Victory Road has Pokemon appropriately in their forties. The wild Pokemon are weaklings, complete weaklings!

    My nostalgia just isn't enough to command my joy to come full circle. It doesn't matter how nice the game looks. The polish for this game was redirected into making more unique rocket executives and some decent Pokemon olympic challenges. Not a terrible journey, but rather a journey with missed potential.    … Expand

The visuals aged beautifully and the Pokemon sprites, both in battle and on the overworld, have lots of soul. HGSS added 2 new starter choices, Hoenn legendaries, events with mythical Pokemon, and a Safari Zone unlike    The best video game remake of all time.
