This game is a strategy game that uses the principles of the Pokemon games along with the Nobunaga gameplay. It is extremely addicting. As a matter of fact so addicting I stopped playing it because it took up all the time in my life.
There is always something to do, and once you have completed one thing, there will be something new, whether it is evolving a pokemon, finding a certain item, recruiting a warrior or finding and catching a pokemon to create a perfect link wit a trainer.

The only downside is probably that sometimes, all the things you have to do each round can become to much.

Even with that it is a great game for every strategical RPG fan, and especially for Pokemon fans.
If you are new to the genre I recommend it as well as it is extremely well made.

This game is one of the best if not the best Pokémon game I've ever played, and my second best on the DS.

I didn't even realise it was a fusion with the nobunaga's ambition series and honestly any criticism to do with that doesn't really matter as most kids in the Us or Europe won't have a clue what that is and it is a kids game after all.

The gameplay is simple for newcomers of 5 year olds yet has the depth to become very complex due to how each map is unique and is decently large, allowing for creativity in how you tackle the battle. It has the rock paper scissors type matchups of a normal Pokémon game except it feels like it's on steroids, super effective moves do obscene amounts of damage especially in the late game(s)Moves have different hit areas as I'll call them which adds opportunities for older players to work to get the best team with variety for each Pokémon.

The pixel style graphics works well to be visually appealing without drawing attention away from important things that younger players might forget about. It works like the black and white games with semi 3D obstacles, 2D textures mapped onto a 3D shape to make houses and such. The Pokémon move in place like in black and white which can help keep it interesting if you have to plan where to move the Pokémon a lot.

The AI is easy and could use more complexity in parts of latter episodes, I wish it trusted the player to be smarter than a potato but at the same time it's predictability helps to give a sense of accomplishment to the younger kids who played it, like myself, as when they realised you can abuse the programming when an enemy is on a flag to defeat really strong Pokémon, you feel like you are a genius. Even though in reality the AI is just stupid. On the flip side there are rare moments when the AI will completely outplay you, as an example about a week ago my internet just died so I decided to play it again, this is where I learned just how absurd super effective moves are in this game, with my Glaceon one shotting a Zekrom. However later I was doing Hideyoshi's storyline, it was just me and Nobunaga, he sent Muneshide to take illusio, towards the end it was 4 on 2. I had gurdurr about to defeat a sneasel defending a flag with a pichu (Hanbei) and litwick (Kanbei) holding my 2 flags with Oichi's wigglytuff slowly beating the Lapras. Out of the blue gurdurr missed and sneasel beat him then blitzed to both of my flags and took them before wigglytuff could get to a portal.

Ignoring my screw up, I love games with good soundtracks, if it has good music it will immediately go up by 1 or 2 and by God this game has a great soundtrack. The entire soundtrack is grand and orchestral mostly, helping to get you in the mindset of 'you're a basically king, go conquer stuff' and it's quite triumphant and happy in certain parts, while others it hypes you up for a battle. My recommendations are the credits theme, dragon theme or the normal theme. They are all great.

As for any flaws there are a few, as I've said the AI is simple and lacks complexity, warrior evolution is a pain and confusing because I thought you should grind for them, like when it says "60% link with (x) Pokémon. You can't grind because in most stories the opponents get stronger faster than you so you just lose when that happens. You would have to pick the same story many times which could be fun but it's a bit ineffective and inefficient. I would like it more if it had a online mode, I don't know how they would do it (maybe each player controlling a kingdom) but if It had one It would be shut down by now so I don't really care. Now I'm just sad it probably wont get a sequel.

Either way it's a great game for the DS and if you have a few days or your internet dies (thanks virgin) its great fun to play. 9/10 any day

I'm giving pokemon conquest this rating because it has in game tutorials, legendary pokemon, even a password system that make hard to acquire pokemon a lot easier to discover. Also I think that they could have added more pokemon from generation two but to be honest having articuno from gen one more than makes up for missing the three dogs, the raindow pokemon, the ruler of the sea and the time travel pokemon. But you know having articuno, mewtwo, registeel, groudon, rayquaza, dialga, arceus, terrakion, reshiram and zekrom is more than good enough for me. Expand

An interesting take on the Pokemon series, the game does not stray too far from its turn-based roots, while still offering a much different take on how Pokemon games usually play out, aside from the Ranger and Dungeon series.
Overall, its worth its cost as a DS title, and possibly a good pick-up for those who enjoy strategic turn-based games and Pokemon fans.

The game is almost perfect other than the fact it doesn't include the Pokemon from X and Y and since that would be literally impossible the game is a perfect strategy title.

I'd say that I liked every aspect of the game, except for when you hit the point when you realize that the game isn't getting any better and you quit.
Another major disappointment is a lack of peripheral functions, like trading and a large pool of Pokemon to ally with.

It really gets you to thinking about how to best prepare yourself for the coming battles. At any rate, this is easily the best pokemon spin off game since Snap on the 64. The gameplay itself is good enough to keep you playing and the fact that you can try using different warriors or warlords and the pokemon you've caught with each person carry over to later games make it all feel like progression towards and end goal of evolving all warlords and collecting all the pokemon, of which there are about 200. I would seriously recommend this to anyone who's been considering getting it. I've been playing it for about 125 hours and still have loads to do!! Expand

Each pokemon only has one move in combat, which makes for the interesting tactical choice of what order you want to attack in or where you want your pokemon to be so that they won't hit each other with attacks that do a lot of collateral damage. Much to my surprise, I actually ended up liking that feature of only having one attack, which forced some more team composition than just putting a super-powerful moveset into play and sweeping the field. Much to my dismay, though, there are only so many pokemon within the game. Th artwork is actually quite stunning, which just makes it more painful not to see most of my favourite pokemon. And I was iffy if I was going to buy it originally as I thought the trailer looked kind of lame as a kid when it originally aired and played on tv/YouTube until I watched one of my friends play it in real life after I got it eventually. Hundreds of hours of content of extremely high-quality content, perfect difficulty level even for me back as a 10-year-old kid, and so many great memories of multiplayer battles while on vacation with friends. One of the absolute must-haves of the DS generation. I remember where I was when I had that big aha moment of realization for the first main story introductory campaign and that's something you can't have in many games.

Thinking back on it, no matter how good they make a sequel I don't think they could make it as good as this game for me because of how many things it does right for me personally in the original. Unless I was leading the project personally or serving as a heavy advisor role it's not going to happen. But like that's ever going to happen in a million years, my Japanese is rough at best, and they wouldn't market research ask someone like me what they should do for a sequel for a game ...if they even make one.

From the 2d pixelated artstyle sprite work to the soundtrack, the character artstyle, the animations, backgrounds, interesting settings, maps with fun gimmicks, real-life history of the Sengoku era, even the Pokémon selection was perfect, the simple but beautiful gameplay with depth, ign of all people actually have the best review video of this game. There are too many things that would have to go right for them to make a sequel game better for me so it definitely won't happen.

Even if it's partially nostalgia speaking, I have replayed it several times on my phone recently, this is in my top 10 favorite games of all time .based on the experience I had with it. and I have played so many games from every genre.
