    If you really are only looking for a functional version of Monopoly on the Nintendo DS, then obviously you don't need to look much further than this. But this game doesn't offer much beyond the board game itself.

    At first you'll probably like this, since it's a pretty no-nonsense monopoly game. Then you realize the AI "cheats" and wants you dead noAt first you'll probably like this, since it's a pretty no-nonsense monopoly game. Then you realize the AI "cheats" and wants you dead no matter what.

    The trading is a bit awkward and requires a lot taps of the stylus to get through and if you get declined over and over again it becomes a hassle to keep going back to the trading screen and taping the screen furiously.

    The graphics are okay considering it's on DS and in my opinion it's good enough... BUT the board on the top screen is blurry and figuring out what the price of a property is, if you've not landed on it is impossible via the game. This is quite annoying when you're trying to trade. The lower screen shows a top down view and looks good enough. Also why are there two yellows that look the exact same?!

    Now to the broken AI.
    Even though there are 3 other AI's playing, they all want you dead and will make stupid trades with each other, just to screw you over. They will refuse to give up even though there is zero chance that they'll recover and at that point they will refuse all trades from you that don't include a poop-ton of money and or a property that you need.

    The AI will continue to offer you horrible trades. For example I needed money to strong arm a player to get my first and only monopoly, while another player kept bothering me to give up Park Lane, so that he would get a monopoly on the Deep blues... He kept offering me White Chapel Road and demanded me to give him money, which is a horrible trade!

    The dice is rarely in your favor, if someone has hotels on Mayfair, you're going there every round. While when you have a whole side of the board covered, the other players will always skip over it losing at best pocket change.

    That all kept happening when I played on the normal difficulty, and out of a 30 games I won 2. You might say that I'm just bad, but really I'm average at best. I know the strategy to win and in IRL games I don't loose nearly as much as that, and I don't play against absolute idiots either.

    On the Easy difficulty, the game is just boring, the AI will do stupid moves all the time and you'll win pretty much 9.9/10 times.

    On the Hard, you have no chance.

    The only way to win against the AI is to get at least one property in all of the places where you can build. Then strong-arm the AI to give you one monopoly while the others will make useless trade offers to you. Eventually you'll win with that. Playing normal gets you close to winning, but then it all gets ruined when you land on fully built Mayfair round after round while the AI skips all your properties and or sits in jail.

    The AI also will never try strong-arm you even though they're sitting on 6000+ money.

    With all that it's a bittersweet experience, it's fun to a point and I still play it, but those things I mentioned above do really get you in a bad mood. I haven't tried playing with people, so in that situation the game probably doesn't try to cheat you all the time.
