This game is a shining example of what happens when a license is the only thing that sells a game.
-
Essentially a bland hack and slash. This will scratch the itch of those hopelessly RPG addicted, but it'll be like bumming a cheap smoke. It'll do but you aren't gonna enjoy it.
-
Strip away the license and it’s a by-the-numbers production – not irredeemably bad, but not remarkable enough to plow through for tens of hours.
-
This game fails miserably because of the unending random battles you encounter every few seconds. The simple task of walking from one place to another turns into an exercise in slow torture.
-
Inuyasha for the DS is a lousy Final Fantasy knockoff with mediocre graphics and a ridiculously high encounter rate.
-
Just don't be surprised if you quickly become frustrated by the copious battles and find yourself merely slogging though the adventure out of loyalty to the franchise.
-
The resulting storyline isn't quite Final Fantasy quality by any means, but series devotees will find plenty to admire here. Still, given the constant interruption for battles and the heinous dungeon layouts, we suspect that none but the most devoted fans of the series will care.
-
By far, one of the best Inuyasha games you’ll play and one deeply engrossing role-playing game for your Nintendo DS.
-
This game is an insult to fans of the series.
-
Nintendo GamerIt drives you bonkers in the first half hour, each of the ten trillion fights dull and easy. [Apr 2007, p.70]
-
Nintendo PowerIt's a decent enough RPG with dull turn-based combat, story integration and item-management conventions that were state-of-the-art in 1992. [Mar. 2007, p.88]
-
InuYasha: Secret of the Divine Jewel is a dud.
-
The enjoyment of seeing all of your favorite characters in a new story may not be worth the frustration of the endlessly tedious random battles. If you can get past the endless swarms of identical enemies, a rather lackluster adventure awaits you.
