What seems like an ambitious design turns out to be overly complicated, completely frustrating and totally confusing. Racing dragons sounds like a cool concept, but Dragon Booster doesn't end up anywhere near a cool DS game.
-
Dragon Booster is one of those games that feels like it was jammed out the door to meet the holiday deadline. While it may carry the cool cachet of an anime license, it's control issues and generic production values will have gamers avoiding it like the plague.
-
The idea is solid, but the haphazard controls suck most of the enjoyment from these rails. We'd like to see more dragons in our games, but requiring the use of an ice pack after bouts with the stylus seems unnecessary.
-
An unimaginative racing game with no real worthwhile moments, Dragon Booster is just one of those titles that are hardly worth a glance for any Nintendo DS owner.
-
Nintendo PowerIf so much of the game weren't based solely on the touch screen, Konami might have had a winner. [Feb 2006, p.100]
-
Even if you’re a fan of the anime, it’s impossible to imagine that anyone would find enjoyment in this game.
-
For the love of all that is holy, stay away from this game, it’s one of the worst examples of use of license out there.
-
Dragon Booster is a halfhearted and practically unplayable racing game with no redeeming qualities.
-
Despite a cool concept, the unusable controls and other flaws prevent Dragon Booster from making the cut.
-
The gameplay is flawed, the controls are horrible and the on-rails racing creates a game that almost plays itself.
-
Parents, avoid this game if you don’t want your little tyke smashing his expensive DS against a wall in frustration. Dragon Booster fails in nearly every way and never should have seen the outside of the development studio.
-
Riding dragons and racing them against others should have been a fun idea, but here is marred by sloppy controls, dull races and bland visuals.
-
Lousy graphics, terrible gameplay, and no other redeeming values make Dragon Booster one of the worst DS games on the market. Trust us, don’t buy it, and if you see someone else trying to buy it, fling yourself at them.
-
Games Master UKA poor game with next to no modes, excitement or stuff to recommend it. [July 2006, p.84]
