As stated by the critics, ATV Wild Ride is the definitive ATV racing game for the DS and even one hell of an arcade racer on its own.

Visually the game is rather impressive with some very memorable and thematic tracks ranging from across the world. Although they are limited in number (I believe about 8 of them in total) they each stand out on their own and are enjoyable to race through.

Visually the game is rather impressive with some very memorable and thematic tracks ranging from across the world. Although they are limited in number (I believe about 8 of them in total) they each stand out on their own and are enjoyable to race through. The game does boast some impressive 3D graphics and it shows the developers took what was learned from others and themselves over the course of the DS's lifespan and applied it here.

Gameplay-wise ATV Wild Ride is fun. The physics, although unrealistic, work well and fit that arcadey vibe and it compliments the game well. The game plays like a traditional off-road racing game with the exception of you being able to perform tricks to score points and gain nitro to boost yourself past your competitors. It's a simple system that rewards good timing and understanding of each trick you can perform and it feels rewarding and enjoyable.

There are several game modes as well as ATVs and racers to choose from. Although the customization isn't great compared to other racing titles like Asphalt on the DS, what's available is enjoyable and appreciated.

The game modes range from single races to a 'career mode,' multiplayer with friends on other consoles, and some custom arcade races based on the racing typ4es you come across within the career mode. All of these are a great time to be had.

ATV Wild Ride is certainly a solid title, and pretty much the de facto ATV game on the platform. I'd certainly recommend picking it up if this type of game interests you.

Ultimately, it boils down to this: ATV Wild Ride is your only real choice for an arcade-style ATV racer on Nintendo's handheld. It's not that there are no other options, but where others have tried and failed, Renegade Kid succeeds in building a solid portable DS racer with ATV Wild Ride.

ATV Wild Ride starts with an undeniably solid feature set: eight riders and eight ATVs(most of which must be unlocked), single and multiplayer modes, four race styles(World Tour, Quick Race, Freestyle, and Time Trial), 24 tracks styled after locations worldwide, and leaderboards that track your accolades.
