In terms of Alvin and the Chipmunks games, this is a step-down, both technically and functionally.
Although the game expanded its song roster by more than double the previous entry, it doesn't say much since Squeakquel only had 11 songs.

Not to mention the removal of a multiplayer mode with whatever features that added. The concerts are now just the 3d models with a 2d backdrop, so a graphical downgrade of an already unimpressive title.

The gameplay is still a rhythm game, but this time you are… drawing lines and shapes instead of tapping or swiping. It's funny because the series went from tapping to swiping, to drawing all within a specific time frame.

Although the swiping in the prior title actually enhanced the difficulty and made it somewhat more engaging over the first. Having to draw shapes isn't really fun, moreso tedious. Alvin and the chipmunks may be a decent line drawing simulator, but it isn't a fun game.

An interesting attempt to recreate a dance game on a touch screen, but far too fiddly to be fun. [Feb 2012, p.100]
