Definitely in my Top 3 Legend of Zelda games, the games looks and runs beautifully on the 3DS, the story is great and the gameplay is spectacular! A must-have if you own a 3DS. 10 out of 10 no doubt

Another GREAT Zelda game with a lot of new innovative stuff. The ending was amazing with a touch of emotion and humanism that I hadn't seen in previous titles! It is too bad the game was kinda too easy, otherwise I would've given it a 10. There is the harder version after you beat it one which gives it a decent replay value, but it's just a more-damage-taken kind of harder.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was, for me, almost identical in design and style to A Link To The Past, with the addition of using walls to your advantage. And yeah I get that it's a sequel that exists in the same world as A Link To The Past, but there wasn't much difference at all between the two worlds. I feel the graphics didn't have much quality for a 3DS game, and A Link To The Past's graphics were extraordinary for it's time, so this to me is a bit of a letdown. None of the characters were very fleshed out, it was extremely easy and I beat it in a ridiculously short amount of time. This game does have a lot going for it in design innovations, but it's hardly fleshed out in any way and I think that there was a lot more that could have been done with it. Maybe I'm just nitpicking, I dunno, but I don't think that I enjoyed this game nearly as much as I've enjoyed other Zelda games. Expand

Don't get me Wrong, Ocarina of Time is one of my all time favorite Games Ever, especially the 3ds version, but this game knocks it out of the park and into MARS! The Recreation f one of my favorite Game worlds ever could not be imagined any better. The gameplay is as it was always meant to be, no offense to the 3d games, but I HATE MOTION CONTROLS! Z targeting is good, but it does not beat the top down style that has been mastered in this game. While the Final boss may be a bit of an Underwhelming fight, all the other Bosses and everything else in this game is perfect, Including the refreshing take on Weapons and Items. Obviously they're very different from each other, but from what I've heard, the way of thinking you need to solve the puzzles is the same. Anyway, this game is an absolute joy to play. It's not the hardest game I've ever played but it's also not the easiest at times either. I never once got truly annoyed at how hard a boss was but I never got bored because the game was too easy. If a person were to come up to me that never plays videogames and asked me where to start, this would be a fantastic choice. The gameplay is super tight and responsive, the puzzles are extremely fun to solve, the bosses are really fun to defeat and the music is downright phenomenal. some people might think this game is for casuals, but I whole-heartedly disagree with that. I've played and beaten all of the Dark Souls games and various other more complex rpgs and those games were definitely much harder, but also felt like work to keep playing them. A link Between Worlds is the fun gameplay without any stats or character builds to bog it down. It's just pure fun. No filler whatsoever. I'm sure there are people who wouldn't like it (because there are 7 billion people on this Earth and there's bound to be people who don't like fun) but if you own a 3ds, you really need to check it out. Where are the boss battles that are supposed to leave the users in awe. Nothing special, I wouldn't recommend it. Zelda is made to be a 3D game. This 2D rendition didn't work for me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of my top 3 games of all time is Zelda: A Link to the Past. ALBW is set in the same world, but doesn't fit the same bill. Disappointment in many aspects for me.

The game play is great, familiar controls that bring back fond SNES memories. World map locations that do the same but in new amazing 3D graphics. An improved audio score, and a more robust form of story telling in the Zelda fashion. These are the things ALBW did right; however, the game also fails abysmally in appropriate difficulty, the application of new features, and in marketing the game's purpose.

In terms of difficulty, we must understand that having a truly mind bending Zelda game will probably never happen. The focus is mass appeal, and fulfilling the simple desire for adventure. Unfortunately, this has gone too far for ALBW. I was able to finish the game without dying one time. The game even keeps track of your deaths and displays them on screen after you defeat the final boss. In fact, I had even forgotten that I hadn't died, nor used my back-up fairy-in-a-bottle. Through most boss fights I didn't even take a single hit of damage. I lost more hearts to running into stationary spikes than big bad boss battles. This isn't to say that I am a Zelda prodigy. Far from it, this game's allure was the catalyst for my return to console/handheld gaming after 10+ years on PC. After completing the final boss and story sequences, you are allowed to begin a game+ with "Hard Mode" (4x enemy damage). Honestly, I was excited for this challenge, plus I had heard there was additional story inclusions when completing Hard Mode (a rare Nintendo feature)! I quickly abandoned my challenge due to boredom and having only died once before reaching the 3rd to last dungeon. I believe the difficulty had a little to do with my next point.

ALBW's application of new features. Most obvious of the new features is the item renting system, a story-significant NPC offers a rental service to Link; the exchange of rupees for any or all of the game's usable items. None of the standard item discovery mechanics that are expected in other Zelda games exist here. Critics name this new "feature" of this game to be refreshing or groundbreaking. I found it to be annoying and spoiling of the potential content. When you think you might have a troubling dungeon ahead of you, no worries, the first puzzle you see will have three different options to complete it using three different rented items. Not once did I sit back and ponder how I could possibly complete a puzzle with nothing but a bomb, a boomerang and my trusty Hookshot. In fact, there is not a single instance in the entire game that requires the boomerang, as there are always options. This problem of rental items is worsened by the lack of danger. Having not died once, the new mechanic of losing all your rental items upon death never effected poor Link. Eventually your Rupees can be spent to permanently purchase the items regardless.

Another major new feature is made possible by the rental items. Non-linear dungeon progression. Many reviewers adore this change in pace for a Zelda game. In my view, this took away the feeling of fear and respect for the "higher tier" dungeons. Having been over ten years since the release of Link to the past, I think people forgot that was a sliver of that game's appeal as well. The Thief's Hideout and Haunted Forest were both able to be completed "out of order".

Other poorly implemented new mechanics involve the new upgrade system. This allows the collection of baby crustaceans that exchange for upgraded items: such as a bow that shoots a 3-directional arrow with a single shot. While collecting them all was entertaining, as they add a new level of puzzle solving and exploration to the beautiful world. There is absolutely no purpose to having these items. Another new feature blunder is the collection of bits and pieces of dead enemies that get used for crafting potions. A Link to the Past simply had potions for sale, so I thought, "oh they are putting a cap on how many potions the player can abuse." Unfortunately, the player finds themselves with 99 of each crafting material by the end of the game.

Finally, the game's marketed purpose was muddled by this game. My friends and coworkers still believe, in spite of my musings, that ALBW is a 3D remake of A Link to the Past. This sentiment earns a *facepalm* from me every time. The story is new, the gameplay (2D sliding on walls as a "living" painting) is new, the style is new, and the world is mostly changed. Again, this game is graphically pleasing, but the disappointment that I feel in seeing it's potential greatness tarnished by difficulty level and poorly implemented new features is too big of a factor in my review/score of this game.

I have to say that this is a great zelda game, but it isn't really the masterpiece that many people claim it to be.
The legend of Zelda a Link Between Worlds, at first glance, feels like a run-of-the-mill 2D zelda, you play as Link and your main weapon is the sword while there are other items to use like bombs, bow and arrows and the fire rod. There are also a lot of dungeons, huge labyrinths filled with monsters and puzzles for you to tackle. In this game there is a wizard called Yuga that is trying to capture some people into pictures because these people, known as sages, are needed in order to resurrect the lord of darkness, Ganon, and it is up to Link to stop the wizard.
Now lets talk about the major twist in this game, it is basically completely nonlinear, that is right, differently from past entries in the series, Link is able to tackle almost every dungeon in any order the player wants. To me this is a great thing because it increases replayability a lot and really encourages exploration, which is a very important element in the zelda series, something that the series was slowly losing as games were released, reaching an unfortunate low in Skyward Sword. But this freedom creates some problems such as a lack of difficulty, the fact that most dungeons could be your first dungeon forced Nintendo to design them with basically the same easy difficulty which makes the later dungeons you explore a lot easier compared to the first ones, making the game a lot less challenging than A Link to the Past.
It is important to remember that the possibility of exploring most of the world right from the get go is only possible thanks to the new rental system, which you can rent every mandatory item in the game by paying with the currency item from the game, the Ruppees. I kinda like this system because it makes the ruppees actually valuable in this game, so every time you get them from a treasure chest or an enemy, it feels really rewarding, and the fact that you lose all the rented items upon dying makes death meaningful in this game, not just an annoyance. But I feel that such system fell flat in some way because there isn't really any struggle to get any item such as beating a strong opponent, finding a secret or going through a hard puzzle to get the item, the only thing you need is a bit of grinding and that is it, which feels rather lazy and as a result the fact that you got a new item doesn't feel as fullfilling as it should have.
Link can also use a new ability called the merge ability, which allows it to become a painting in a wall which allows him to get to some otherwise impossible to get platforms, and to avoid every enemy. I really liked this ability, it allows for some really creative puzzles, and even bosses, and makes the game a lot deeper than it seems.
The bulk of the soundtrack is mostly remixes from a Link to the Past, which isn't really a bad thing as most of these remixes are really well done, such as the main theme from the legend of zelda, and the death mountain theme, and there is a fair share of original songs. Although the original songs aren't bad, none of them were felt memorable or inspiring as the songs from other portable zeldas such as Link's Awakening or Spirit Tracks, most of them just get the job done as far as video game music goes.
The game does look really good though, the cartoony art style from the NES and SNES zeldas makes a return here, and it looks really charming, and fits well for a handheld game. It might not look as detailed as the Minish Cap, but this isn't really that much of an issue for a portable game. This game also runs smoothly at a consistent 60 FPS which I don't recall dropping at any moment in my playthrough.
The game also borrows the same overworld from a Link to the Past, which is both a blessing and a curse. It is great because this game borrowed what quite possibly is the best overworld in zelda, with lots of secrets, a lot of density, so that it doesn't feel empty like Hyrule Fields in Ocarina of Time. But the only problem with this is that...well, it is the same overworld from the SNES game, there isn't really a new exciting world to explore here like in past 2D zeldas, which makes the game lose a bit of identity.
Overall, A Link Between Worlds is a great Zelda game, its unlinearity makes this game feel fresh after years without a zelda game like this, although it generated a few issues like the difficulty and the fact that the sense of progression isn't as high as it is in other zeldas. It sounds and looks beautiful for a 3DS game, and it plays well. The fact that the game borrowed the overworld and so many songs from a Link to the Past might disapoint some people but it does enough to feel like a new adventure thanks to how the game progresses. If you don't have a 3DS zelda yet, I would actually suggest picking Ocarina of Time 3D first in case you haven't played the original because I think it is a better game, otherwise, buy this one.

Great game, nostalgic, new mechanics, great remake of the old musics, good upgrade system of the weapons, the only thing I don't like too much is the fact that the dungeons is too small compared with the a link to the past, could be better developed, but a amazing game to a 3ds onwner, a fan of the Zelda series, or someone that never played Zelda before. The ability to merge into walls is fun and very intelligently used throughout the game. There are also some decent side quests that can distract you from the main quest. What was supposed to be a remake is actually a sequel that stands on its own. My only complaints for this game are that it is too short (it should take you less than 20 hours to finish this game completely) and it is too easy: I have finished the game without dying once. Unfortunately, button mashing will get you a long way in this game. This isn't my favourite Zelda game, but it's definitely in my top 5. Expand

+ Exploration: Not once did I feel bored exploring the world of Hyrule in this game. It was a joy running around as Link in this game.
+ Soundtrack: Pretty neat, it's just upscaled versions of ALttP songs and MAYBE one or two new songs.
    + Combat: Simple, but fun.

    Cons:
    - Story: Not bad, but like ALttP's, it wasn't that great either.

In other areas, Nintendo has made all the right changes to the gameplay formula, resulting in a game that is always incredibly good fun to play. Long-time fans will certainly get a kick out of its nostalgic presentation, while all players will appreciate its impeccable design and superb usage of the 3DS's touch screen.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds é o melhor jogo da franquia.

By far my favourite 2D style Zelda game. There is not a dull moment, and the story is surprisingly good. Extremely fun dungeons as well. I prefer this game over Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask. I'd probably give it 9.5-9.8/10 but I'll round up.

You always think you know what to expect when it comes to a Zelda game. This game is fantastic. It had great puzzles, great combat, and an awesome story to fold it up into a neat little package. The mechanics worked great as well. I removed a star because it was a *tiny* bit cheesy, but that only added to the charm in the end.

What initially looked like a game leaning on the aging crutches of A Link to the Past has turned out to be a thoroughly poignant, vivid and immensely satisfying game worthy of standing on its own two feet. Set in the world of A Link to the Past, Link Between Worlds makes the se

Taking place in the classic world of a Link to the past, this game adds new bosses, characters, and mechanics in an amazing way. The story and graphics are improved significantly, and all while running at 60fps. A Must-play, and the pinnacle of 2D Zelda.

Absolutely fantastic game, its a zelda game, but really really fun, this game is the definition of fun, and it still manages to be a really good game in terms of design.

Me lo acabo de pasar y honestamente es mejor que las dos entregas grandes del Nintendo Switch. Una obra maestra y un Zelda como debe de ser.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. ok, in my opinion, this game is better than a link to the past. I could not stop- playing it even if I promised myself to stop after a certain part. I like how it has more gimmicks than the other game. The dungeons are very good too but I struggled on a few like the ones where you get the master ore but other than that, most dungeons were reasonably challenging. I also like how different it is to the other zelda games due to the renting items systems. The game is a cross between the first zelda, a link to the past, and breath of the wild due to the game being open world and the renting system in which you have the items straight away rather than going through dungeons to get them. I will say that the dungeons are better than botw but that's a 3d game. The only problem with the game is the final boss battle. Like it's dumb how you can't shoot the arrows from behind you in a wall until it's last phase and that's how you beat it. Great ending, dumb execution. To go back on the positives, I like how the music changes as you progress. Lastly I like how the story has males getting kidnapped too. Expand

Plays great, my first 2D Zelda game and while it hasn't had me dashing back to try more yet it certainly delivered on my expectations.

A very good action RPG in a sandbox-like Hyrule. The game features a redefined equipment progression along with the nice flattening trick. It's a bit on the easy side, though. [Dec 2013]

A Link Between Worlds is a Zelda for people who have become disillusioned with Zelda over the years. It recalls the series' roots while also taking unique advantage of the 3DS hardware to create something that feels new. They may not make them exactly like they used to anymore, but Link Between Worlds shows that they still recognize what made them great in the first place.

Much is the same in A Link Between Worlds. Just like in A Link to the Past you follow Link from a birds-eye perspective in both light and dark worlds. But A Link Between Worlds is not merely a simple game of nostalgia but one that perfectly blends the new and old Zelda games. The result is one of the best games in the series.
