Ghoul Busters is a Game Boy-styled platformer that perfectly captures that 90s 2D feel. It gives me some serious Donkey Kong Country vibes in a way that I can't totally explain; the game just FEELS similar. You play as either Atticus, a weaker character who has a ranged weapon, or Starlin who only uses melee but deals more damage. Both characters have pros and cons. The game is a solid length for an indie title with a very fair and challenging difficulty curve. It never feels unfair, but it definitely won't hold your hand. it's since been ported to Switch, but it was originally designed for 3DS, and some of the obstacles really show that as they're clearly meant to be viewed in stereoscopic 3D. That, in my opinion, makes the 3DS version the definitive way to play Ghoul Busters even with the cool bonuses in the Switch port. I had an absolute blast with this game. I've beaten it from start to finish twice, and I plan on playing through it again at least once or twice. It's probably my second favorite indie platformer ever, second only to Freedom Planet.
