    The fans and faithful of the Jewel Quest series who don't mind wildly cramming gems into a corner for several minutes might very much enjoy the newer takes and elements of The Sapphire Dragon.

    I own every Jewel Quest on DS and 3DS and this one is the worst one in the series, hands down. It runs extremely poorly even on my New 3DS,I own every Jewel Quest on DS and 3DS and this one is the worst one in the series, hands down. It runs extremely poorly even on my New 3DS, everything is sluggish and laggy. The game crashes and freezes quite often as well. The dialogues are written in broken English and they're voiced by native English speakers, yet apparently none of them could be bothered to point out the mistakes in their script. They just blindly read what they were given by the devs without a care in the world. It's quite funny, but it also makes the look game unprofessional. The game board is also very small, much smaller than the previous games, and there's a lot of dead space around it which could've been used to make the board bigger instead.

    Other than that, it's your typical Jewel Quest. You match 3 or more gems of the same color to turn the board to gold. There are 5 characters available to play is, each with different abilities. However, you only need 2 of them: Ali for the Pathmaking boards (her "extra time" passive ability makes up for the atrocious lag that makes these boards almost unplayable) and Natalie for everything else.

    The game is very easy, easier than any other Jewel Quest I've played. With just these 2 characters I can reliably and quickly complete the entire game on the Advanced difficulty with no problems whatsoever.

    It's still a good time waster, if frustrating. The music is nice and relaxing, the graphics are nothing special but it's just a puzzle game so it doesn't need anything extravagant.

    Final verdict: Still worth playing if you're a hardcore Jewel Quest fan, but skip it (at least for now) if you're only just starting with the series. It's a shame this game is so unpolished because its low difficulty would otherwise make it a nice entry point to Jewel Quest.    … Full Review »
