Infinite Dunamis is a competent, if low-budget and unambitious RPG designed in the style of its 16-bit ancestors. What it lacks for in originality of the plot, characters and style it makes up in terms of an interesting and involving combat system.

There are far better role-playing experiences on the 3DS, but for turn-based world-saving on the cheap, Infinite Dunamis is a fine option.

The characters are bland and honestly annoying, and there's very little to make Infinite Dunamis stand out in a long line of already lacklustre titles.

I had an overall good time with this game. The plot is a little bland but I wouldn't say it's bad either, mostly because I find the main partyI had an overall good time with this game. The plot is a little bland but I wouldn't say it's bad either, mostly because I find the main party to be entertaining when interacting with each other which led to me being invested in them by the end of the story. The combat is very solid and easily my favorite part of the game, the overkill system leads to random encounters feeling much more comfortable since with well timed multi-hit attacks you can get back a sizeable amount of SP so you don't have to second guess how much resources you're spending in fights. I played on the 3DS version, so the newgame+ final boss leading to the true ending took hours of grinding (on mobile you can rely on microtransactions to make it take much less time) since you pretty much have to be max level and have near optimal equipment to win. Personally I don't mind this because I enjoy the party building aspects of RPGs but I know many people are opposed to that sort of thing so it's a fair warning to give out. On the topic of party building, the sheer amount of customizability the game provides you can be a bit overwhelming but very fun to explore with things like the crystals you can use on Estelle and the magic rings, so whether that is a positive or negative or not is up to you. Other complaints I have are the very low frame rate on the overworld (I got used to it with time but it was very off-putting at the start of the game) and small soundtrack that can get repetitive at times, though I'm sure it couldn't be helped as the game very clearly had a small budget. In all I wouldn't say Infinite Dunamis is a bad game, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who get impatient with RPGs since seeing everything the game has to offer is a large time investment that many people won't view as worth it. On the contrary, if you enjoy classic style RPGs and want an obscure game to try out I think the game is worth a shot. Full Review »
