Is Fragrant Story worth picking up? Sure, as a curiosity and conversation piece perhaps. Four bucks isn’t much of an asking price, and the content on offer here is enjoyable and engaging for what it is. For the afternoon it’ll take you to play Fragrant Story, you’ll probably be satisfied with it — then you’ll have seen everything it has to offer, move onto something else, and never boot it up again. If you decide to pass on this one, there’s really not a whole lot that you’re missing out on. Given its low price and goofy nature, though, it may be worth picking up just so you can say you grabbed the last game on the North American eShop before Nintendo locked the doors for good.

The storyline is only about 30 minutes on hard mode, so it's definitely a short game, but it's replayability is 10/10 thanks to the different challenge levels and wide cast of characters, each with their own abilities. I sunk a few hours into this easily trying to get all the items and complete all the challenges.

This game can be played in short durations making it awesome for gamers-on-the-go and for people who don't have hours to dedicate at a time.

    Graphics - 8/10
I'm a huge SNES fan, and thought this game brought that colorful, nostalgic charm while also adding some interesting cut-scene backgrounds and character portraits.

    Gameplay - 9/10
This game uses a spinning wheel to determine character actions, and on the hardest difficulty setting the wheel is somewhat randomized which will have you on the edge of your seat and rethinking your tactics in battle. The wheel is what makes this game super fun. Controls are intuitive enough, and there's a lot of character variety. Added terrain would be a nice to have, but the game is fun without.

    Music - 10/10
Wow. I didn't expect the music to be so good, but with William Kage and Sakimoto at the wheel (pun intended) the soundtrack is A+

    Charm - 10/10
Between the name itself (Fragrant Story) and all of the puns around scent and plants, this short game is packed with funny charm and doesn't take itself too seriously.

    Replay-ability - 10/10
A decent cast of characters and challenges, with a randomized experience on hard mode, give this game its replay value.
