Fortunately, the filmmakers have quite a few clever tricks up their sleeves, bringing us a smart, refreshing an affectionate skewering of a celebrated genre.

So here it is, an arena rock type film event for lovers of Asian cinema. Good news is that you won’t have that annoying ringing in your ears the day after. Better news is that you’ll have food for thought way after witnessing these spectacles.

It's a touching story of father and son type male bonding -- male bonding with Nick Nolte no less -- that's bound to find some audience members blubbering by film's end.

It's clear right away that The Roost is no hack job. It's made by people who have a major love for the genre and generally anything that goes bump in the night.

This interesting and humorous ride brings a wild variety of Grace Lees, to Grace’s delight and our amusement, providing an informative and heartfelt look, more personal than academic, of a culture and the single bond they all share.

This Brazilian thriller blows a heck of a lot of hot air, but really doesn’t deliver on the ass-kickings it so threatens.

The film also doesn't try to wrap things up nice and neat. That's not how life is and that's not how this film goes. But for those who can handle the truth, they should be prepared for a very moving experience. And Freddy Krueger references.

Isn’t just a "gay movie." There are just gay people in it. Anyone can get into this lovable film.

Geared to please audiences of all tastes.

Wordplay is...well...just about as exciting as a feature length movie about people solving crossword puzzles can be. Not very.

Judge and Hertzfeldt take us on an international trip through the world of animation. From the silly, to the beautiful, to the terminally lame and pretentious, there’s a little something for every taste here…yeah, even for those who love farts.

This film includes not one single word of dialogue.

A wicked good time.

Winds up being enjoyable, even though the only character I really liked was the main one, played by David Paymer. Everyone else I wanted to whack in the ass with a tire iron.

Plagues & Pleasures is kinda like one of those travel videos, except it's offering you a vacation like you've never had before and it's not loaded with bulls---.

You want uncomfortable tales of love and woe, then Race You to the Bottom has what you're looking for. And if you believe love is a disease that is meant to send people to screaming, burning hell, then you'll have a laugh riot, a real knee slapper, like 1,000 fart jokes heard all at once.

In a perfect world, movies this clever would open in theaters every weekend. Maybe some day.

Good news is that most of the marvelous English dialogue cast from the Cowboy Bebop series has returned for the film. The bad news is that the heart and soul of the series hasn’t.

We still love you, Terry. Happens to the best of us. But, man, what a stinky load. Someone get the hose.

Thought provoking and brimming with charm, match that with an infectious sense of humor and outstanding performances.

This film is designed to turn your stomach and make you feel ashamed of your fellow man.

The backdrop of this seedy motel is just the perfect place to illustrate the awkward times of early teen life.

Incredible because for a 100 minute movie, Alexandra's Project passes like 30. Incredible also that most of those 100 minutes take place in a single living room. It's the tension and performances that pull you through, never letting your attention stray from what's going down on-screen.

This thoroughly engaging, if tragic, love story unfolds like a psychological striptease. The biggest challenge here is not to blush.

Moves at a smooth and steady pace, so much so that it’s hypnotic. The characters and performances in this film are also very calm, providing a soothing experience.

Bottom line, what I took away from this movie was – that drunk guy sure was funny.

Congratulations to Robb Moss for making such a crowd-pleaser. But more importantly, congratulations to Moss for having such interesting friends.

This could've easily been a giant mess, but aiding filmmaker Scott Storm in keeping his ship together is a talented ensemble cast who compliment the sharp, witty script by writer Paul Osborne. You're never too lost in trying to figure out why this poor guy is doomed and you're always entertained. Talent coming in from all sides makes Ten ‘til Noon great movie watching.
