Basically, what you have in Ju-On is a collection of effectively scary sights and sounds - sound effects play a huge part in rolling that chill down your spine – and that's about it.

Takashi knows how to make a great, sleazy Yakuza film, but what I’m missing here is that sense of something brand new.

Wordplay is...well...just about as exciting as a feature length movie about people solving crossword puzzles can be. Not very.

Moves at a smooth and steady pace, so much so that it’s hypnotic. The characters and performances in this film are also very calm, providing a soothing experience.

Unfortunately, the outcome here is so over-the-top that it’s going to wind up alienating most everyone that sees it.

Inspires plenty of head scratching and maybe a little irritation.

With “Chamber of Secrets,” all we get is a f____ "Scooby Doo" episode. Boo on everyone involved...BOOOOOOOO!

Imagine a blend of "The Wizard of Oz," "Beetlejuice" and "Roadside Prophets" and you'll know exactly what Wristcutters is like.

This is a truly strange love story that definitely grew on me as it ran its course, or perhaps it was just that infectious song sinking its hooks into me.

A well-done, oft-times entertaining documentary as it presents this unique brand of matchmaking that may or may not be the ideal situation for both parties.

The 3D visuals are an enormous part of MVA's experience and they also help to cover up the lackluster “comedy.”

Winds up being enjoyable, even though the only character I really liked was the main one, played by David Paymer. Everyone else I wanted to whack in the ass with a tire iron.

A little boring and extremely long for what it is, all that Azumi really has going for it are several eye-popping battle sequences, including the climax which is a totally delicious celebration of graphic violence, and some nice camera work.

This Brazilian thriller blows a heck of a lot of hot air, but really doesn’t deliver on the ass-kickings it so threatens.

The first half of the film is engaging enough to overshadow the missteps of the final act. It's a down and dirty look at the world of the ko gals, but it has class.

You'll either walk away with a headache,or praising filmmaker John Maybury for his unique narrative...and it is unique, but in my eyes, it's also a big giant mess.

Unfortunately, despite a couple of creepy scenes here and there, director John Hancock doesn't inspire enough interest for us to want to follow Tom on his near two-hour Hardy Boys mystery. More groans than gasps for this one.

The story's no great shakes here. However, the power of this film lies in the sexual tension boiling between the characters and that makes for a great date movie.
