Based on the book from Eduardo Sacheri The Night of the Heroic Losers (Alfaguara Novel Prize 2016). In a far-flung town in the province of Buenos Aires, many things are about to die out. During the economic crisis that led to the traumatic bank freeze of 2001, a group of men decides to gather the amount of money necessary to acquire some abandoned silos on an agro-industrial property. But even before they can carry out the project, a scam makes them hit rock bottom and react in the face of injustice. Now it's about robbing the thief. This novel narrates the story of a well-deserved collective revenge carried out during a legendary night that will never be forgotten.

The Jangling Man is the story of UK-based artist, poet, and Cleaners from Venus frontman Martin Newell. Regarded by many as an influential figure in the history of cassette culture and DIY recording, Newell has been an integral part of the British music scene since the 1970s, and his music career spans over six decades. He’s been produced by XTC’s Andy Partridge, and written for the likes of Captain Sensible of The Damned. Though it would be wrong to call him an "unknown", he has never been directly in the limelight. This film brings to light the amazing career and life work of the artist, who, on top of being the most published contemporary British poet as well as an established gardener, continues to record and release music today.

Eighteenth-century Brazil. There is growing concern in this Portuguese colony that gold mining is in decline. The country is being ruled by corrupt colonial officers. Lieutenant Joaquim has made a name for himself as a hunter of gold smugglers. He has been waiting in vain for the reward which he intends to use to buy the freedom of his lover, a black slave. In order to make the money some other way, he agrees to take part in a dangerous expedition to find new veins of gold. He is accompanied by some of his countrymen and a troop of African slaves, indigenous Indios and mestizos. The longer they search, the more his doubts about the mission grow. Gradually he begins to recognise the injustice his country has brought to the colony and sees all too clearly the machinery of oppression. [Berlin]

Kick Out the Jams: The Story of XFM

Kick Out the Jams: The Story of XFM

TBA | Not Rated
Titled after the first-ever song to play on their airwaves, Kick Out the Jams follows the development of XFM from its rebellious pirate radio roots in the early 90's, through to its official FM radio launch in 1997 as a major platform for launching alternative talent into the mainstream. The doc deep-dives into the struggles and influence of the station which gave rise to the likes of Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant, whose global hits The Office and The Ricky Gervais Show were originally developed while working at the radio station. XFM also unlocks its rich musical vault, including rare footage and unseen photos of Oasis and Blur, allowing an intimate look into the station at the centre of the Britpop craze of the 90s. Kick Out the Jams is directed by Ray Burdis (The Wee Man) and produced by Brian Anderson (Britain's Gangland) and Ian Jefferies (Faces of the Underworld).
