This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This episode is rather unique in a compelling and embarrassing way. What is compelling is the episode addresses child abuse -- which is next to impossible to make 'entertaining'. The embarrassing part is the script is not only bungled... the first 5 minutes of the episode is from a previous episode. Yes. Not a flashback but the opening of one story stapled onto another. :(

My hunch is that the original opening of this episode was deemed a channel changer by the network. It probably showed the kid at school at the playground get in a fight, and when the teacher broke it up she was scars on the kid's back. I'll bet you a box of donuts it was something like that.

What's also awkward here is the introduction of S&H as Laurel and Hardy. To 'lighten' things up. EEeeek.

I applaud this show for pioneering this topic on TV. It's regrettably a case study of probably what not to do in such situations.… Expand
