This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is my solution for the whole serie: KILL F.. DOCTOR FAKE SMITH.
    Problem solved.
Lost in Space without Parker Posey will be very best. Otherwise you can put Parker Posey in the robot. I will it. Yes.

In short - great for kids around 8-12 years old. Technical quality is great, proper mix of CGI and real props, interesting questions asked. Just keep in mind that it's meant for kids and don't expect deep dark story, blood or X-rated content.

Grading on a curve to balance out some of the ridiculous one to three star reviews.

It's not perfect, but definitely has been worth the time spent watching it. I laughed at one of the top user reviews that complained about them always being in danger. Yes, that is the whole premise of crash landing a family on a hostile planet after their transport to a new world got attacked.

Yes, that is the whole premise of crash landing a family on a hostile planet after their transport to a new world got attacked. They should be in danger all the time - and that's is something they get right. I think some of the family dramatics gets a little overdone - but not to the point where I cringe at it. There are a lot of complaints about Parker Posey's villainous character Dr. Smith. I personally think it's the best written character on the show - she's unpredictable, cunning, conniving, an yet there is a little glimmer of good you want to root for but can't. She's the character metaphor for the planet they are on. Danger! That's what it's all about when your Lost in Space.

PPL need to get over the fact that this is an ALL new lost in space, things will change
after talking about the fans, I want to talk about the show
this is a high - budget show and it shows, the CGI is awesome the plot is great
cons: 2 much feminism and its ends in a bit of a cliffhanger
the series gets an 8 from veredz

I thoroughly enjoyed this reboot. Great, family friendly sci-fy. Cleverly reimagined and well produced. i enjoyed the placement of the show in the not-so-distant future. It's fun to imagine what humans could be capable of some day soon. Lots of things to think about and enjoy. i hope more we get to see a second season!

This is an excellent reimagining of the camp 60s show. Parker Posey is brilliant as a no less evil but much less likeable Dr Smith. The rest of the cast is strong.
The middle of the series drags a bit, and the profusion of secondary characters makes season one feel like a preamble. Also, the narrative is sometimes nonlinear just for the sake of obfuscation. The cold open of the series is

It's got problems: Every episode is basically the same, they clearly want you to be impressed by the visuals, half the characters are uninteresting, it's an unnecessary remake, some sickos out there think the robot is "hot", and often times characters behave in ridiculous ways.

But... It's still entertaining. I really do enjoy watching it, more so than most other shows I've seen in

Awesome!!!! One of the best science fiction shows on television. This is better than the original and I didn't think anything could beat the original. I love this show. Each episode left you wanting to see the next one. The Robinson family and the way they stick together is beautiful. Truly a show for the whole family. Please netflix give us a season 2 and 3 and on.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I watched the original show in the 60's and it was my favorite but I hated where it went after the first few episodes. Always wondering where it could have gone if it stayed true to the beginning. This satisfies most of the direction it should have gone. I love the way the original story lines tie in. The planet's orbit, the chariot having to be assembled, Judy and Don relationship. They even made it so the original characters are together lost in the end, thrust through space at light speed. They even got the little things like gravity on the ship or moving with different tech other than rocket thrust. Loved the robot and Smith. Expand

I grew up on the original. The new series starts slow, but give it at least 4 episodes. Having watched the entire first season, I feel it is outstanding!! Honors the original, but is far more believable. Clearly the negative reviewers were not fans of the original.

Great visual treat! Turn off the brain and enjoy. Only complaint is the little boy. Kept getting into trouble or doing stupid stuff to threaten the family and nobody noticed? That part seemed weak writing. Keep up the work Netflix. Either good or bad, we need more chances to see new stuff like this.

Not your parents Lost in Space but very enjoyable. It has flaws, and characters that grate but overall I recommend it. However, if I was in charge on that planet I would cast the Robinsons adrift because otherwise I would have shot them for being so arrogant.

I am so glad I watched the entire first season before coming here and seeing the whinge posts. Just goes to show how shallow some Sci-Fi watchers can be. Not so much because of the newer special effects but more for the story and character development. Not as much cheese as the original(just enough to make it familiar to us old timers) and a little more serious. I like that. Makes it feel like a more mature version. Then again we are talking about 50 years of writing differences that shows how much the times have changed. Now that the first season has pretty well established the characters in this telling, I cannot wait to see where the series goes next. I would score this a 10 but I felt too much time was spent on Will and too little on the sisters. I await anxiously for the second season. Expand

I really like this reboot of the TV series. The flashback reveals of the story you think you know, shows that you really don't know this story, although you do, if you are a fan of the original TV series. The character changes work for me. It's a fun and interesting ride. I hope Netflix picks up a 2nd season.

The drama in this show largely overshadowed everything else, and at one point was too much to bear.
Like at one point the tough but fair Judy of episode one evolve to be this all touchy-feely "Doctor" of episode 7 which leads to this massive waste of the fuel that would have been enough to get them off the planet, Even after all the superDoc **** Evan still dies

Dr smith aka Jessica aka June Harris bring out the best and worst of this show at times she is so good that you fall for her lies and her betrayals are fun to watch (they just leave you wondering why you fell for the lie and hating yourself that you fell for it). She some character to look forward to in season 2 and also the Judy and don relationship.
Toby Stephens and Mina Sundwall are just awesome in this show, the confidence of penny in her father and herself is just epic.
i cant say anything about Molly Parker, i have loved all her characters since Rebecca brooks( human target) and Lisa Marshall (Dexter).

    The ending was so epic
Will: I think we are here (shows a drawing)
    where?!!

    lovely ending

The characters are well crafted. Dr. Smith is the Devil herself and very well played. The storyline and backstory is well written and excellent. I give it 10 out of 10, and pooh-pooh on the skeptics... or is that poo-poo on the skeptics. Both work just fine. Cheers.

This Robinson family is not the hallmark card we've come to know. This Family Robinson is flawed, has a pending divorce and a mixed racial cast of smart engaging characters. The action sequences and special effects blow the competition out of the water as this is feature film quality stuff. Instead of the usual stranded on a desert island cast away scenario, we find the family are part of a large colony headed to Alpha Centuri with a propulsion system just discovered. Part of the discovery is revealed later in the season as is the origin of "robot" who apparently is responsible for much of the "danger" we encounter right from the jump. Hang tight and let the story unfold. This time Dr. Smith,(who isn't who you think she is) is more than a cartoon narcissist , she's a full on sociopath. Bent on getting her own way. this is a thinking, reasoning, plotting villain. Parker posey is a great actress and its takes one of her talent to make you hate a character this much. Posey plays the role with a gravity that encourages the show to orbit her, eccentrically, whenever she’s in view. The dynamic exemplifies the awkwardness of this muddled update. Charging in several directions at once, it asks the viewer to imagine efforts to secure a proud future for humankind, but it seems most vital when painting depraved schemes to survive.

Oddly enough, it’s the robot who proves most engaging. ... What really makes the robot stand out is its complexity. It’s mysterious, both in its origins, intentions, and inability to over-communicate. The human characters don’t earn the same mystery.

The thrill of exploration, or the examination of family dynamics, never feels like it arises organically from the action, in the way it might have on the show’s most obvious forebear that isn’t its direct predecessor: Lost.
