This episode was not full length, 40 minutes instead of an hour, but it seems like that was a good decision because it's clear that this show is really under a budget and they made sure the product was the best production they could put out. The battle scene was chaotic and not choreographic like the one in episode one, so we get a sense of a way an actual battle would feel. Of all of the episodes so far, this one gives the most nods to the fans bringing in jackels, grunts and brutes for the first time. The start of the show gives clues to how Jacob Keyes role is much more important in John's story than he is in the video game. The tension between Halsey and Miranda is shown briefly but later on we really get a sense of how Miranda really feels slighted by her mother. The interaction between Kai and Vannak is priceless. The following between Kai and John really speaks to John's character and even though everything that's going on, he's still who he is and why he's in the position that he's in. He's unfair and hypocrtical but that's what a master chief petty officer would do. The back-and-forth between John and Cortana is starting to evolve into the banter that we love from the video game. Again, the Kwan Ha Sorren storyline is off in nowwheres-ville. Maybe it'll come back to the rest but right now it's taking away from seeing more of Cortana who, considering how important she is, hasn't been given as much screen time to show her importance. Or more time could have been spent on Makee giving her more depth as she never existed in the game and her importance to the show needs to be given more time to make clear. So the episode was good, not without its flaws, but gives promise to upcoming episodes. Expand
