Jon was always written to fight against the white walkers. To have someone else steal the kill shot from him, just to fit in with 2019 political agenda is disgusting. I've been waiting for this for over 20 years. This is not what was promised. The battle scene was completely stupid as well. Walls are meant to be hidden behind or mounted upon. Hopefully they haven't neutered GRRM as they did D&D. Ever since the show runners took over the story this show has been total crap. Expand

Now I understand Cercei's right decision to not joining these morons. If these show sticks with its original philosophy that mistakes has consequences they should all be joining the dead army. They put soldiers outside the castle walls, make a suicidal cavalry charge, put artillery IN FRONT of the troops and fire pits BEHIND their own troops, just to take a good dramatic shoot. And the walls itself practically undefended. .. But they have flaming swords, and wizards, and zombies, and... dragons. How that couldn't be soo cool! And a badass kungfu ninja who sneaks an entire army and jumps in a surprise attack and stabs the bad guy in the classic anticlimatic last moment. And everybody is dead, except the main characters, because they are all now level 20 and they have superpowers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the tactics of the battle for trying to bring out the night king(Most unoriginal name by the way) and the freaking arya coming back and stabbing the night king in the back, the tactics and the placement on the troops are a joke, no one at the time or even in the situation they were in or trying to get the night king to appear would ever use those sorts of tactics, it leaves to many casualties to count for and gives out more then a dozen unpredictabilities, and in more then half of the outcomes would leave all of the people at winterfell dead. This season is starting to be far the worst of any season and is far the worse of any seasons 3rd episode, the casualities where minimal with only 5 major character casualties Expand

It is a waste to see George R. R. Martin work go down like this. Since the very first episode (which is called "Winter is coming") we are warned of the great dangers of the far north, and all of it comes down to this ?? The Night King is completely trivialized as a standard "bad guy" with no real, plausible reasons to kill everyone. Also I wasn't aware that Arya had lesson with the Faceless Men and with the Spider-Man... Huge plot holes and suddenly Arya is Azor Ahai and apparently it all makes sense because Melisandre said something long ago... Terrible. Expand

I do not understand why it had to turn out like this. Why resolve it in such a anticlimactic and unsatisfying way.

This lead to the whole series feeling overstuffed and the characters have been changed until they are not anymore the same all the seeds for theories planted earlier were just thrown out of the window in just one episode .... This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A horrible ending of the Night King, the show was preparing for him since the first season but, to end him that easily and without any logic of the show, even without a real fight (at least swinging his icy sword couple of times). It needed more working on it and not just finishing it like any other normal tv show or movie. And about the darkness of the episode, it was disappointing for the ones who really understood the show, it was only the screen which was dark. There was bad deaths which deserved and could be done better, more dramatic and more reasonable too.
In general the show needed some work and more George R. R. Martin. It contained many plot holes and bad written end for the biggest threat on the living.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Well... this is the end of the road for me, i left ironicly the same way i entered this place, but unfortunally not in the same way. Game of thrones had the balls to kill off his main hero in it first season, it was shocking but logical, it made sense, action equal consequence. Now killing it's main vilain in the mid of it's final season just because you don't know how to deal with it in another way that's just dumb, especially when you kill him by a deus ex machina with a character vthat that has nothing to do with that exept that she's a "slayqueen and fans favorite". Even if it was the only issue with this episode i wouldn't liked it, but there's more, plot armor for main character, poor strategical war choices and "hide my poor cgi with blizzard and darkness" problems, what i liked with GRR Martin story is that every bad move cost a great deal in the game for the throne, now I'm assuming that you can making mistakes is fun when you play the russian roullette ! I was hoping that GOT didn't lost his mojo, and that feeling was here since season 6, with episode 2 of season 8 I was hopefull, now i'm just... out. Expand

How did Ghost survive? And no one died in the crypts, they could have atleast killed Gilly, jon should have atleast had a sword fight with NK and then NK should have raised the dead, and after thanking Theon Bran should have turned towards warewood tree to position NK for arya and when NK is choking arya Bran should have warged in NK and unwarg just before arya stabs NK, that would have been Perfect. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why end the whole existential threat before killing Cerci? The whole idea and premise of the show was that "the game" didn't matter in the end. Only now it matters more... More than magic, more than the children of the forest, the history of men, the whole idea of fantasy in the show. And Arya killing the nite king was such a bad idea and the execution was even worse, how did she get there? The plot armor was super strong and the only good thing about the Rosie was the cool Battle and great cinematography besides the darkness. Expand

Martin's world was still engaging and, as the show outran the content of the ASOIAF books, we also reserved some judgment not knowing whether we were witnessing roughly the intended continuation of the story or whether the showrunners were just taking liberties / lazily writing the rest of the show to meet deadlines or "subvert expectations."

Season 8 has so far shown it was the latter by utterly killing the show. All of the usual problems have become even more prominent but it's in denying the audience the fitting conclusions of many of the threads over the past 7 seasons (and in doing so ignoring notable events and prophecies that occurred over them) is where the show truly died while insulting almost all of the fanbase.
