  1. It's always a pleasure to find a family film that respects its audience all the way up the line.

    The movie is so entertaining it hardly seems right to say it's susceptible to holes being picked in it, but it is.
  3. Grumpy T'Challa may be on the throne, but it’s the women who rule. And Michael B. Jordan adds fire as Killmonger.

Saarsgaard is also terrific, lending a quiet air of solemnity and thoughtfulness.
  6. A delirious, manic, push-the-limits comedy of gaudy amorality that tests the audience’s taste. But it’s a gamble that works, since you leave this adrenaline trip wasted, but invigorated.

    For all its venom, “Maps” is one of the more compassionate movies from Cronenberg (“A Dangerous Method,” “Eastern Promises”). The corrosive humor and icy tone eventually give way to melancholy. No one here can be saved.
  28. There are plenty of unexpected moments within this stirring film, but it's no surprise at all that it's been tapped to compete for a Best Documentary Oscar next Sunday.
