Sonic Origins Plus contains some cracking Sonic games, but the collection is somewhat lacking and the added content is average at best.

Everything isn’t always awesome, but in small doses it can be.

There’s no denying that handheld Dark Souls is still a cool concept, but its struggling framerate makes it difficult to recommend too highly.

With a phenomenal Cyberpunk aesthetic and fantastic characters, Dex is close to being an incredible experience. Lackluster combat and hacking let it down, but it still has a lot to offer for fans of the grim Sci-fi setting.

But, it is still just another LEGO game and, as such, does little to make it stand out from its ever-increasing crowd of peers.

Ys X: Nordics is a fun enough RPG with enjoyable combat, but dull sailing sections and subpar visuals make it a slightly disappointing sequel.

While the presentation leaves a lot to be desired, there are plenty of elements that make Demon Gaze a good jumping-off point for the first person dungeon crawler. If you can stand the typically Japanese sexism, you might just enjoy this challenging, if repetitive, adventure.

I’ve not felt this challenged in a long time, and the levels do nothing but push you to the absolute pinnacle of your resolve. It’s just a shame some of the game’s bugs can ruin your progression.

Affogato combines a lot of interesting ideas, from Persona time management to coffee making, but there's a lack of things to do with your freetime.

Beautiful Desolation is an enjoyable point and click adventure in a unique world, but the slow pace and obtusiveness may put some people off.

Senran Kagura Burst is silly. Its presentation is silly, its combat is silly, and its whole reason for being is silly. Yet somehow, it’s compelling. Alongside the gratuitous boob and panty shots there’s a nice pair of intertwining stories here with amicably fleshed-out characters.

A pretty straightforward modernising of a fondly remembered 1980s shoot ‘em up that successfully adds a handful of modern bells, whistles and gameplay wrinkles to proceedings whilst also suffering somewhat from the inherent gameplay restrictions of its source material.

A fun, fast, frantic puzzle matching game that hopefully won’t frustrate you to the point you want to throw your Switch like one of the game’s plates.

An improvement on The Dark Below, and for those who were still playing it gives them a little more reason to carry on.

For a free-to-play MMO, DC Universe Online is more than worth getting, and depending on how much you enjoy your time with it, you may consider sinking some cash into it. Getting to interact with all the superheroes and villains within the DC Universe was right up my street, and spending my cash to buy new upgrades and gear, as well as a sidekick that followed me around Gotham, made the time I had with DC Universe Online worth it.

Gust’s first action RPG is a decent attempt let down by inconsistent visuals and various problems with difficulty.

An improvement on the original, but it throws in a few flaws of its own.

It’s not feature rich, but Astro Duel Deluxe is another title making excellent use of Nintendo’s console vision.

Although it has issues with difficulty, REZ PLZ is a fun and interesting, co-op puzzle-platformer with a dark sense of humour.

Like Father, Like Son is an interesting VR experience that mostly succeeds despite lacking the charm of the source material.

Rain Games have created something beautiful in Teslagrad. Its opening scene alone should win some kind of award. Its mix of mind bending puzzles and unforgiving boss battles, not to mention some pretty hit and miss platforming, make it a game that will really split opinions. Fans of the genre will find a new hero in Teslagrad – but casual gamers should be wary.

It plays like a nice home cooked meal and is fun even though clearly simplified as both an RPG and a farming simulator.

If you’re into your classic shooters and don’t mind a few cheap deaths along the way, Blazing Chrome is a pulse-pounding thrillride that wears its influences proudly on its sleeve.

Splodey is a fun, novel little title that definitely has the potential to be addictive when you get on a winning streak.

Yuki is fun, looks terrific, and gives a decent approximation of what it would be like to spend a day inside a Japanese TATE arcade cabinet.

Epic Eric is the perfect game to play on the tube. It will keep you entertained, but doesn’t require massive amounts of concentration. The gameplay is fun and some of the puzzles are brilliantly designed. However, too many stages are too simple and offer little challenge. All in all, Epic Eric is a decent game, but somehow feels like it’s missing a final stage.
