  1. The picture ranks with the brothers' best mid level output-not as sublime as "Fargo" or "Barton Fink" but infinitely more satisfying than "The Big Lebowski" or "Intolerable Cruelty".
  2. This film is filled with bursts of color. The high energy visuals counterbalance the tragic malaise of Goldie’s life perfectly.

It’s a good film…a better version of the Coen Brother’s Hail Caesar! A film that kept popping up in my head.

Plays like a breeze and ends before we know it. In the current state of cinema, all we can hope for is one like this per year.

As an indie thriller, American Siege does what it needs to accomplish in building tension as the filmmakers bring us into a town where everyone is compromised one way or the other and these compromises cause the town to implode.
  3. The drawing card for Blade II is -- the promise of a blood-soaked action/horror thrill ride, and Snipes and Del Toro get the down-and-dirty job done with style.

While the tail end of the film does receive cheap laughs, it really does ruin a very emotional end to a rollercoaster ride that is, after all, a man’s tragic life. In fact, if it were not for this tacked on, sleazy wrap-up, the film would have garnered an even higher rating. Do not let this fact dissuade you from seeing this film. It is well written, well acted and extremely engrossing. Just find out exactly when the film ends and leave about five minutes before and you will be very satisfied.

This cast keeps the story grounded as each man is tested throughout the film.
  4. Behrman sidesteps overt sentimentality, captures some heartrending moments and most importantly, doesn’t resolve everything with a neat “happily ever after” conclusion. The lasting impression Giant Little Ones casts may not be “giant” – but it’s certainly not “little” either.
  5. Gory, gritty, and proudly unpolished, Bogieville is a low-budget vampire tale with a strong opening, a killer child vampire, and a messy but satisfying finale.
  6. Fingers in the Wind is not an easy viewing experience because of the slow pacing and ambiguity. But the cast and Murdoch’s originality in both technique and narrative make it a worthwhile journey for me. I look forward to seeing where the director’s filmmaking career goes from here.

With Gaudagnino’s signature framing styles and natural, lush settings, this movie warrants a re-watch to catch the full picture of a beautiful, ultimately tragic story of a family’s undoing through a woman’s search for herself.

A film that depends entirely on whether you feel empathy for its characters.
  7. Darkly comic, disturbing, and fun, Piercing is a vulgar little thriller that is one you watch without the one you love.

One thing that separates undie from indie is bad acting. Bring it on! There are some stinky performances here, and stinky moments in the script. Great! If it don't stink it ain't punk rock. I'd rather dig the tunes and remember deadpan deliveries.
  8. Dead Ant is not quite the slam dunk it could be, based on its concept and cast. However, the faults don’t deter from the sheer fun and energy of the production. Combine that with the very game cast, led by a dynamic and lively Jake Busey, and you get a recipe for a good time.

A hard luck, true life fairy tale story told with poignant humility, embellished with solid acting and determined direction.
  9. While it holds more value for the conversations it will undoubtedly spark between audiences, the thriller still stands as a bold and brash experiment that demands multiple viewings to get the most of its style and themes.
  10. The portrait of traditional Indian life Chadha provides manages to mine laughs from characters without resorting to making them laughable.
  11. The film is quite funny and very well written by writer/director Morgan Ignari.
  12. The primary weakness is in the story itself, which at times seems like mere background for the snappy banter and knowing glances.

By turns touching, raucously amusing, uncomfortable, and, yes, even sexy, Never Again is a welcome and heartwarming addition to the romantic comedy genre; a pleasant surprise of a film that delivers so much more than its description leads one to expect.
  13. By turns chilling, depressing, yet guardedly optimistic documentary.
  14. If you like quiet, meditative supernatural thrillers, you will ultimately enjoy The Wind quite a bit.

While the antics of the group provide hilarity the documentary suffers only because there is large amounts of padding.
  15. The filmmaker goes for broke, deliberately setting sequences against painted backgrounds or giant black-and-white photographs. There’s a moment when Tesla belts out Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” into a mic. Such embellishments could’ve potentially led to a mess, but in Almereyda’s capable hands, they somehow coalesce into a dreamlike whole.
  16. What really buoys the feature is the acting from its two leads, whose chemistry absolutely sparks.
  17. Gorgeously shot, cleverly directed, smartly scripted and convincingly performed, The Dreamers is itself something of a movie puzzle.
  18. If you didn't like "Charlie’s Angels," there’s a good chance you'll enjoy the smarter, sexier D.E.B.S.
  19. If you’re looking for a good scare, or at least an Alien sequel that is willing to be a sweaty blue-collar fable, seek out Alien: Romulus. This is a very fine flick.
