The 15 Worst Movies of 2021
Above are the lowest-scoring films released in the United States between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. Films are ranked by Metascore (an average of grades given by top professional critics) prior to rounding, and any titles with fewer than 4 reviews are excluded. All scores are from December 24, 2021.
(#2) It's not quite Battlefield Earth terrible, though it's easily 2021's worst sci-fi film. Is it also yet another forgettable Bruce Willis action thriller? Somehow, it is, making it quite a year for the one-time star. Sin is set in the year 2524 and follows a ragtag group of human soldiers on a mission to take out an alien planet before the aliens can invade Earth. Sadly, the effects are halfway decent but the story is dull and derivative, meaning that it lacks the so-cheesy-it's-fun appeal of BE.
“The pacing is sluggish, the script is crammed with both incomprehensible technical gobbledygook and lazy, sexist jokes, and the visual effects are laughably cheesy. My kid could make a more dazzling space movie on his iPad.” —Christy Lemire, RogerEbert.com
