Penelope Cruz stars in this family drama from director Emanuele Crialese (Golden Door). Set in 1970’s Rome, the film takes its title (translated in English as Immensity) from an Italian song popularized in 1967 by Johnny Dorelli and Don Backy. Cruz plays Clara, who, with little help from her emotionally distant husband Felice (Vincenzo Amato), tries to understand her oldest child (Luana Giuliani), whose given name is Adriana but would rather go by Andrew. This struggle with gender dysphoria serves as the backbone to a tender-hearted look at the complicated and loving bond between a mother and child.
