One of five nominees for Best International Feature at this year’s Oscars, this debut narrative feature from Irish writer-director Colm Bairéad follows nine-year-old Cait (Catherine Clinch) as she’s moved from her dysfunctional family home into the care of foster parents (Carrie Crowley and Andrew Bennett) for the summer. Based on the novella Foster by Claire Keegan and set in rural Ireland in 1981, this quiet, gentle film keeps viewers with Cait as she heals and grows with her foster parent’s care.
