Every Coen Brothers Movie, Ranked
Joel and Ethan Coen’s 17th movie, Hail, Caesar!, was recently released, and—SHOCKER—it’s getting pretty darn good reviews. So good that it’s one of their 10 best films, according to top critics. And that got us thinking, “What is the best Coen brothers flick ever?”
Now, using Metacritic’s unique scoring system, we’ve found the answer to that very question.
Some of these rankings might be downright surprising. (We’re talking to you, Big Lebowski fans.) But more importantly, which classic Coen brothers flick made it to No. 1?
Fargo might be the most beloved movie in the Coen brothers’ filmography. It’s a classic black comedy that stars Frances McDormand as pregnant police chief Marge Gunderson. Don’t cha know you’ll never look at a woodchipper the same way again.
"Rotates its story through satire, comedy, suspense and violence, until it emerges as one of the best films I've ever seen." —Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
