Every Coen Brothers Movie, Ranked
Joel and Ethan Coen’s 17th movie, Hail, Caesar!, was recently released, and—SHOCKER—it’s getting pretty darn good reviews. So good that it’s one of their 10 best films, according to top critics. And that got us thinking, “What is the best Coen brothers flick ever?”
Now, using Metacritic’s unique scoring system, we’ve found the answer to that very question.
Some of these rankings might be downright surprising. (We’re talking to you, Big Lebowski fans.) But more importantly, which classic Coen brothers flick made it to No. 1?
The Coen brothers set the bar pretty darn high with their 1984 filmmaking debut. The directors used plenty of motifs they still employ today, including their use of crisp, cheeky humor, deception, and double-crosses. To secure financing, the Coens even created a fake trailer for Blood Simple.
