Every Coen Brothers Movie, Ranked
Joel and Ethan Coen’s 17th movie, Hail, Caesar!, was recently released, and—SHOCKER—it’s getting pretty darn good reviews. So good that it’s one of their 10 best films, according to top critics. And that got us thinking, “What is the best Coen brothers flick ever?”
Now, using Metacritic’s unique scoring system, we’ve found the answer to that very question.
Some of these rankings might be downright surprising. (We’re talking to you, Big Lebowski fans.) But more importantly, which classic Coen brothers flick made it to No. 1?
True Grit received 10 Oscar nominations in all, including: best picture, director, adapted screenplay, and lead actor, among others. When they were told of all the nominations, the Coen brothers said, “Ten seems like an awful lot. We don’t want to take anyone else’s.”
But the film ultimately failed to win a single trophy at the 83rd Academy Awards.
