One of the small screen's biggest surprises of 2018, this BBC America series managed to do something that few (if any) other TV shows have done this century: grow its audience with every episode. It certainly didn't hurt that Eve is one of 2018's most entertaining shows, featuring sparkling writing (mostly from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who adapted the series from Luke Jennings' novellas) and a pair of terrific lead performances. The action-filled but darkly comedic thriller pits a formerly desk-bound MI5 agent (Sandra Oh, in her first regular role since leaving Grey's Anatomy) against a wildly effective female assassin (Jodie Comer, The White Princess) in an ongoing cat-and-mouse game, which will continue next year in a second season.
“Killing Eve is unlike any other spy drama you’ve seen and that’s why it’s so excellent. It does away with the conventions of the genre and makes you believe it was designed for women all along. It’s a quiet revolution.” —Ira Madison III, The Daily Beast
