Chadian writer-director Mahamet-Saleh Haroun impressed critics at last year's Cannes with his third film to screen at the festival. It's also one of three films on this list to center on the topic of abortion. The drama, Chad's official Oscar nominee last year, finds a single mother pondering her slim options when her 15-year-old daughter wants to terminate her pregnancy in a country where doing so is against not only her religion but her country's law.
