Nancy Schwartzman's true-crime documentary examines the now infamous 2012 incident in Steubenville, Ohio in which a high school student was sexually assaulted by members of her school's football team at a party—with assailants and witnesses then documenting the rape on social media. The film, which recently aired on PBS as well, also focuses on the investigation and attempted cover-up that followed, as well as the involvement of activist blogger Alexandria Goddard, who was instrumental in alerting the public about the case.
“Schwartzman’s film is a strong, cogent examination of outrage, coolly and carefully documented, one text, tweet and reckoning at a time.” —Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune
