Miniseries debuts April 27 on HBO Max
With no end in sight for TV's true-crime craze, it was only a matter of time before we'd get to see this story in some form. David E. Kelley's seven-episode HBO Max miniseries offers a fictionalized retelling of the true-crime story of Texas housewife Candy Montgomery (Elizabeth Olsen), who was arrested and tried for the brutal 1980 axe murder of Betty Gore (Lily Rabe), the wife of the man (Jesse Plemons) with whom Montgomery was having an affair. Patrick Fugit plays Candy's husband Pat, while Krysten Ritter, Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, and Mackenzie Astin also star and Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) directs. The first three episodes stream on day one.
