24 Films to See in April
While this April lacks the big-budget tentpoles that are typical of the season, it makes up for it with a diverse array of promising films, ranging from a Ben Affleck crowd-pleaser to festival hits to intriguing new titles from Ari Aster, Kelly Reichardt, Cristian Mungiu, David Lowery, and more. Oh, and did we mention that there's even a good new Nicolas Cage film? And a good Evil Dead sequel?

In this coming-of-age comedy from We Are Lady Parts creator Nida Manzoor, martial artist-in-training Ria (Priya Kansara) takes it upon herself to save her older sister Lena (Ritu Arya) from marrying doctor Salim (Akshay Khanna), the only son of the devious Raheela (Ms. Marvel’s Nimra Bucha). Manzoor's debut feature blends up genres and finds the right balance of comedy and action for an original take on the bonds of sisterhood. Polite Society even earned comparisons to Everything Everywhere All at Once from appreciative critics at its Sundance premiere early this year.
