When reviewers say "it drags on so long" they are putting their personal preferences ahead of the merits of the film. If you only like superhero movies and you detest black & white films from the early 1900s, you will probably feel like Citizen Kane drags on forever. Your review has to go beyond just your personal preferences and explain why those preferences are relevant to your review.

Ok, so why is it so good? Partly because Zack has dropped so many of his bad habits from his previous films. As much as you may like or hate them, there was always one moment which pulled a lot of people out of the film. In this masterpiece, he avoid the non-stop whiplash from Man of Steel, the Lex Luthor character from B v S, the "Martha" insanity from B v S, etc. There are flaws aplenty but they aren't as god awful as his previous works. The tone stays pretty consistent throughout. This movie moves slowly. Yes, the critics are not wrong on that point. But that is part of its genius. It gives the story time to breathe. It makes the characters appear more human and real. It allows the story to be fleshed out. But be warned, I am heaping all of this praise on the movie in spite of the CGI. A lot of it looks very dated by virtue of its age. And some of it looks like it was missing some post-production and are clearly worse than the comparable CGI in the theatrical 2017 cut. But it is petty to care about these issues when you have these well developed, human characters. There is a newfound empathy. And there is no overt political virtue signaling; you kids won't remember what that was like but it is a nice reminder of the olden days. So yeah, this is how super hero and comic book films should be made. It doesn't treat the audience like kids (hello Disney Star Wars), it doesn't race through action scenes to keep the viewer awake, and it doesn't feel like being immersed in a Saturday morning cartoon show. It has realism, humanism, emotion and depth. A bit of something for everyone who enjoys "films" and not just kids jokes combined with amazing CGI.… Expand

Some big standouts are Cyborg, the Flash, Wonder Woman/the Amazons, Steppenwolf, and Darkseid! Apokolips' invasion of Earth does well in setting high stakes that the protagonists must overcome, and especially terrifying is the "knightmare" subplot hinting at what will happen if they fail. By merit of these great characters and their individual journies, by the time the credits began to roll, I was wishing it wouldn't end.… Expand

Vastly superior in almost every way. Comedy was decent liked it because it was there but didn’t over stay it’s welcome. Very little hiccups but some scoring was just poor in some scenes. They fixed so much of what I hated about JL when I saw it in theatures it was originally a very bad avengers, rushed character development and plot was useless this fixes all of it and gives it a darker more DC feel to it. It is a great film, much better than the previous one. In the film, previous errors were corrected and what was expected was delivered. I hope that the DC universe will continue with new films, mainly Man of Steel 2.

This is probably the one movie to me that really felt the most 'deserved', not only for the fans but for the director himself. This really goes to show you that you should let visionaries like Snyder be able to fully complete their work.This is probably the one movie to me that really felt the most 'deserved', not only for the fans but for the director himself. This really goes to show you that you should let visionaries like Snyder be able to fully complete their work. Especially after such a personal tragedy, so big props to the man for sticking it to the studio big wigs. This movie really stayed authentic and never had to copy what makes their peers "successful" in order to be good, the Marvel Formula isn't the only route you can take. This movie really felt true to itself, different from any other superhero movie I've seen. I've kind of grown sick of the family affair that these MCU movies are nowadays, full of jokes and lighthearted comedy being in every movie. Having an R rating means you can do so much more with the material, I know people will think that the appeal is only for those that relish in these kinds of over the top violence and cussing. But this movie did it in a way that was able to be quite authentic to what I usually see in my favorite DC source material like the various comics, games and animated stuff. This movie honestly has way more heart in this superior version, much of that having to do with the extended backstory that we were able to see in characters like Cyborg and Flash. For a team-up movie this was able to make its's characters each have their own purpose and value to the integrity of the plot. This also made a lot of characters really look like the 'gods' they are in these epic and breathtaking action set pieces. There is genuine badassery that we were able to see from characters that otherwise look puny in weak in the previous version. I would also like to praise this improved score by JunkieXL, there worked well in the scenes they accompanied. The cinematography is also beautiful, some nice visuals there. Although one might grow tired of Snyder's patented Slow-mo, but I thought that it worked quite well in giving it that comic book fell, especially in those sick fight scenes. I'm not sure this movie would work at all in theaters, but this new streaming platform allowed for that. While yes this is far from being a masterpiece and a perfect movie. This movie just really meant a lot for me an many others. So I have to truly thank the fans for all the support and petitioning they did in order to deliver us this fully realized version of the movie we were supposed to get. Also this is another lesson to the studios that zap the creativity out of them, and force these artists to shell out these lifeless husks in order for the sake of profit and greed, while manipulating our favorite franchises that are so important to us fans. They should all take note and really listen to the 'real fans' in the face of mass audiences and gaining wide appeal. Art is something that should take it's proper time and should never be rushed. Was 4 years too long a time to see our favorite superhero team rightfully done on the cinematic screen? Maybe for some, but for me and many others it was well worth the wait, for proving all the doubters wrong and giving us that vindication. Thanks again to all the people that fought to get this movie made, after seeing that ending without revealing anything. All I can say is, let this man finish what he started. #SnyderCut #RestoreTheSnyderverse… Expand

4 hours is a lot, and even I was getting a bit sore on my butt, but its absolutely worth it.

The character development was outstanding. I even started to like Aquaman and especially The Flash, even though I disliked them previously.
The action is great and believable and the story is being told so well that you never really know what happens next and you always fear the worst.
It has a bit of wokeness injected, but its nothing bad or out of the ordinary compared to the 90s or 00s. Totally tolerable.

The only thing that bothered me a bit was that Batman looked very clumsy and sometimes useless in this movie. The other superheroes outdid him many times in agility and cleverness. You always feared that he would suddenly be killed with one hit by a lesser bad guy. And in fact he gets saved by the others many times from those sudden deaths. That was once different.

The major surprise in this movie was Cyborg. Very well done. I really loved that character. He was very powerful, but also had his humanity and weaknesses.
The Flash also was much more likeable and not as annoying or stupid anymore. I compared him to the new Spiderman in the theatrical version (who I find extremely obnoxious and childish with terrible humor). But here he seems much more mature, relatable and not once annoying, while still displaying his strengths and weaknesses extremely well.
A very well done movie. Very refreshing in this propaganda drenched age.… Expand

I'll keep this short (unlike the movie) this version of Justice League still isn't perfect but it is FAR better than the theatrical cowboy level regurgitated vomit we got. The one biggest criticism I'd have of the film is that all the heros are made to look pathetically weak and they MUST HAVE Superman to win which does a significant injustice to the great job all the other actors do for the characters they play. Sure the critics refuse to give credit where it's due but given the fan numbers are so high WB can't ignore it. The music. The pacing. The cinematography. Everything was Leagues better. The characters had more space to actually develop. They played much better off of each other. The cringe jokes were gone. We got to see the full action scenes with stuff like Wonder Woman's intro being waaay better. If you just don't like Zacks style then it might not be for you but if you just want a great JL movie and auch better one than we got before then this is one you NEED to see.… Expand

I think it is well past time to say that critics are completely out of touch with the general public. I don't think I have ever seen a discrepancy this big between the audience and critic score. 9.0 vs 5.5. SMH. While I personally thought Man of Steel and BvS (the Extended Edition version) were great, I was so disappointed with the original Justice League that I could not imagine this movie being good. If that original script and story was based on what Snyder made, how good could it actually be? The answer is its not good. It is an actual MASTERPIECE. I'm not saying that lightly nor am I saying that as a hardcore fan of Snyder (I'm not). I'm saying that as a person who enjoys watching all kinds of movies. This isn't going to be your typical Marvel fare, this movie is an actual piece of art. It's not the beer you chug with your friends on vacation, its the whiskey you drink while lost in thought. Sorry for the super cringe reference, but please just watch the movie. It's amazing. Actual merits of the film (acting, directing, story, plot, etc.): 8.5/10

This is definitely the movie that should have been released in 2017. Some people might be put off by the 4 hour long runtime but it kept me entertained and at the edge of my seat throughout. This movie tells a complete and coherent story throughout unlike the version that was released in 2017. The movie makes use of each of its primary characters screen time and fleshes them and their motivations out to a satisfying degree including the main villain steppenwolf who seemed to have no motive whatsoever in the 2017 version. The movie also sets up multiple dceu sequels that may never see the light of day unless fans speak out about it as they have done to ensure that this movie got released. Here's hoping we haven't seen the last of snyders dc universe.… Expand

A mature movie as it should be... VERY DARK!!!

If This movie filled me with joy and sadness at the same time. the joy is that this is a masterpiece and the sadness that it wasn't released a long time ago, so the Dark universe was exploding today in all directions.
This only shows that the fake Director that replaced Snyder should have never directed that movie, they should have waited. Sometimes Delaying something amazing is better than ruining it as they did with the first version.
I can't stress this enough, Go watch it :D

My wife and I both rolled our eyes a few times at scenes that were being dragged out for far to long with music that was like nails on a chalkboard. The only other drawback obviously was the 4 hour run time. Had they done things like marvel did, fleshing out the universe before a big movie like this, it wouldn't have needed to be 4 hrs long. In short, the story was better fleshed out and made more sense. Character writing was done much better. Action scenes were added and improved upon. This movie is worth a watch, especially if you are a fan and/or were disappointed by the original justice league movie.… Expand

A project that can be considered dead due to the studio's zero interest in continuing with what Snyder had in mind.
So it will go down in history as a failed experiment and a memento of what could have been.
And, unfortunately, it will also become a terrible precedent for fans to think and believe that they can manipulate multi-million dollar corporations.

This movie has parts of the best and worst of Zack Snyder.
It's clearly a superior film than the one Whedon altered, but it's quite necessary to clarify that all Snyder is doing is mending a film that was already poorly made, and that had been brutally patched up with elements that ultimately made it much worse.

I admire Snyder's ambition, and I say that because he clearly wasn't afraid to build a movie on such a scale. However, it is his own ambition that ends up winning in his own game.

This is a 4-hour film that would never have seen the light of day, even if it had been finished when it was released in 2017.
Therefore, now that he was aware that they would allow him the opportunity to expand to the fullest without consequences, Snyder never seemed to have thought in having moderation Obviously, if it was his last chance, he would be the guy to leave the party in a big way.

This Justice League is bigger, too long, and even with the massive amount of detail it adds, it's still a messy film.
You can put many other adjectives in it, but mess is still the big trigger.

Without a doubt Snyder bet on many other things for the future, hence the constant plans that he has revealed on social media, but unfortunately for him, he will only be the child who wanted to have the cake and eat it too.

His world, by the looks of it, is dead, and that's why I refer to this movie as a dead project. Since neither DC nor Warner have been able to give order to their planning of superhero movies.
And now they will use the multiverse excuse to protect their business approach of: throw **** and see what sticks. I trusted this idea, but they did not let it work, and that is why until now a clear path has not been found. So you have to see this for what it is: One director had his way to get rid of a personal and professional thorn, and was consequently able to deliver such a film. Which in my opinion is completely built for fans. Casual viewers or movie lovers of other genres should know better. Now their enjoyment or dislike will only belong to them.
For better or worse, Snyder did what he wanted, and perhaps in his mind he finally delivered, so the rest is up to the viewers. *Kudos to Snyder for the knightmare sequence. I mean, it's pure **** fan service, but if this wasn't it, then what is it?… Expand

Substantially better than the theatrical trash that was released. Snyder’s version greatly benefits from the extra runtime, and as such the story is far more coherent. As well as the overall improved coherence, the battle sequences are especially improved. It beggars belief how this cut can’t now be seen as canon. After watching it, you can’t go back and see the theatrical cut the same, it is almost laughable in comparison. WB will have a real tough time on their hands if they were now to try continue the story of the Justice League from the cut they released theatrically. If Snyder’s cut doesn’t get a sequel or two after that cliff hanger, I will be gutted!!!… Expand

The snyder cut, which i for one will be referring to as the definitive Justice League movie from now on, gave me goosebumps at times and I was in shock and awe in others.... how could this have been deemed as the lesser of the versions of the movies by anyone is beyond me! But I am glad we got to see it in all of its glory.

It is not without its flaws, I am sure if it were to have a conventional theatrical release, the movie would have been slimmed down a little, but for me personally, I didn't even notice the 4 plus house hour runtime, I was thoroughly engrossed in the story and the spectacle... n surely as fans this is what we want first and foremost! I thank warner brothers and zak snyder, for giving us this movie, when it would have been so easy, easier in fact for the studio to put this on a shelf and forget about it, and possibly for zak due to the huge personal tragedy he went through during initial production.… Expand

If your a fan of Snyder’s work on MOS and BVS ultimate edition, you will love this movie. It really gives meaning to all the characters and there’s a lot more at stake. It looked polished to me. Definitely worth the wait.
