Other than Logan this the best X-men movie in my opinion. Great action scenes and characters are well tolledand fleshe out. ALso the movie was good overall.

This is the X-men movie that we've wanted since the beginning. The cast is absolutely perfect and the balance between the original cast and the first class cast is awesome. X-Men: Days of Future Past is a very emotionally heavy movie, and I couldn't resist shedding a tear or two as I sat on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next, even though I read the comic before I went to the theatre.

Days of Future Past is superb in every way. The story is strong, the music fits the scenes, the cast is amazing, and all those wonderful Marvel jokes we never get tired of. I could write a lot, lot more, but I don't want to spoil it for you. So if you haven't seen it yet, WHAT are you waiting for? Buy a ticket, or tickets, and go watch the movie. You won't regret it!… Expand

Without a doubt the penultimate X-Men movie in this universe. The new characters it introduces are a joy to watch especially Quicksilver who steals every scene he's in. This was a great movie overall, the setpieces and action scenes were very well done, the plot was well adapted from those comics it drew upon for inspiration, and it leaves off with a couple ideas left in my head as to where the series mightThis was a great movie overall, the setpieces and action scenes were very well done, the plot was well adapted from those comics it drew upon for inspiration, and it leaves off with a couple ideas left in my head as to where the series might go next without unbearable cliffhangers.

The acting was generally good, but Fassbender wasn't as magnetizing as he was in First Class. The dichotomy of past/future Magneto's actions was interesting enough to keep my mind off Fassbender's performance during the movie, though.

At the end, I was left excited for the next film, and hoping it is made as well or better than this one was!… Expand

From the very beginning, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” had me hooked. It tells an endearing story of the struggles of survival for these mutants as they are picked off one by one by the monstrous and vicious Sentinels. It tells an endearing story of the struggles of survival for these mutants as they are picked off one by one by the monstrous and vicious Sentinels. The X-Men have to work together with their past selves, in order to secure their future. It is a fun and highly well told story that pays of not only in the action, but also emotionally.

Bryan Singer is at his best as he directs a large cast of mutants through an emotionally endearing story that will leave viewers in awe of what is happening and what is to come for the franchise. I really appreciated a lot of the stylized directing, it really made the film that much more fun. The visuals are used impressively and the action sequences are directed incredibly well. I was literally at the edge of my seat every time the characters were in combat as I literally felt that they might lose their lives. The script is packed with great character moments and we get to learn a lot more about our favorite mutants. The time traveling is handled incredibly well and as long as you don’t try to break it down, it is satisfyingly well handled.

The cast is great and they really own their characters. Fassbender and McAvoy are great replacements as Magneto and Professor Xavier, respectively. They provide great emotional performances as well give us some great character moments. Jennifer Lawrence has come a long way from her first performance as the blue shape shifting femme fetal, Mystique. She finally fits the role perfectly as she is sleek, sexy, and highly unpredictable. And as always, Hugh Jackman is just spot on as Wolverine.

Overall, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” is a the quintessential summer blockbuster this year. It has everything from amazing action, thought provoking and emotionally satisfying story that delivers on all cylinders, and a great cast of talented actors. This not only is the best movie of the year so far, it is also the best X-Men movie yet and personally it’s in my top 3 favorite comic book movies of all time list. I give it a incredibly high 4.5/5.… Expand

The good.
The plot within itself makes sense. Its really easy to mess that up in things involving time travel.
The action sequences are pretty amazing. No one character is too powerful in comparison to others. The scenes set in the future manages to show a bleak abysmal world, but still evoke warmth between the onscreen characters. Including new characters you've never met who fit in seamlessly. And it adds to the rushed desperate feel of it. Scenes in the past manage to convey the feeling of the period aside just from a bunch of funky clothes. Characters are shown as fragile as well as being powerful.
The bad.
One apparent plot hole Charles Xavier is alive in this bleak future, yet when Wolverine is flashing back the rest of the dark phoenix ark from X3 clearly happened. One of the great things about this film is they get a chance to re-do that mess. I feel like they should have gone one way or the other on that. Or come up with a workaround. Things don't have to have happened exactly as we saw in X-3. In this future they obviously didn't. Maybe a deleted scene will explain it.
Similarly as warm and re-assuring as it is to see the original X1 cast at the end of the film, it would have been a golden opportunity to re-cast a character or two as I hope they do going forward.
Also, and I found this rather weird, Jennifer Lawrence emotes more and has more texture when she is Mystique. When you see her without all the blue makeup her face looks a tad airbrushed and she is not very expressive. I really do not know how they managed that one.
Also anyone who is expecting anything more than a bit part from Storm. Sorry. Not in this movie.
The verdict. At last we have moved past the period where creating a superhero movie meant cramming it up the wazoo with special effects. They should try to tell the best story they can, and add effects to heighten the experience. That is what this film does.
It also gets a bonus point for giving them the ability to reboot the franchise to a higher expectation going forward.… Expand

Just got back from watching X-Men: DOFP. Very entertaining with some great (and not so great) effects; but with some very sincere moments of character development, specially with Prof. X. However, there were some (major) characters who hardly got a word in at all. One major character was just seen in the hallway at the end and another (future-version) major character wasn't seen at all (If Magneto got his power back after X-Men: Last Stand, didn't she?). Characters we did get to see and actually have some lines, were great. New characters (for the movie series) were awesome: Quicksilver!

As with all time-traveling-based stories, it's always a challenge to pull it off "realistically". X-Men: DOFP did so splendidly and with heart. Nice story, indeed. Again, some very deep moments. The effects were top-notch in most of the scenes... but a few, well, had less time spent on them (ie: the fall out of the window).

Very enjoyable, smart superhero movie for summer. Go see it!… Expand

After the series appeared to be fading away after a sub standard conclusion to the original trilogy and an awkwardly written and directed origins story, the films have been revived by two fantastic instalments. First Class did brilliantly to get the series back on its feet with an excellent prequel led by James McAvoy, however DOFP goes one step beyond. Combining a fascinatingly intriguing and complex plot packed with great spectacles with a timeline spanning both arcs of this franchise, the latest X-Men entry culminates in an extraordinary feat of superhero film making. For me, the only superhero movie to surpass DOFP's excellence is The Dark Knight, but that is hardly a criticism.
I'm now eagerly awaiting the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, 2016 can't come soon enough.… Expand

This is one of the best superhero movies ever made and is easily the best X-Men movie to date. It puts the X-Men franchise back on track. This year has been great so far with this and Winter Soldier being amazing.

Remember the Dark Knight films being praised as the best superhero movies? Well they weren't since theres nothing "super" about them. Good movies but not superhero movies. These recent Marvel movies are written really well AND they do the comics justice unlike Nolans trilogy.

The first think I want to say is that Days of Future Last isn't your typical action fulled, popcorn movie. If you like the comics or are familier with the characters and storylines, it's good to go for you. Some movies are so gripping and they stay so true to their comics and origins- DOFP is that type of movie. The Xmen send Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman in the past to stop the war that came in the future. Hugh Jackman was really good in this movie. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were the highlights. Jennifer Lawrence and Halle Berry were there but they were normal fare. This is the most absorbing and greatest Xmen movie ever know in recent years, it deserves the hype, and sure as damn deserves this much pride. This is what Tarantino did to Pulp Fiction, what Nolan did to The Dark Knight, what Kubrick did to Clockwork Orange. This is real cinema. I think I have never watched a movie so exciting and refreshing. You walk out of the theatre felling a sense of joy or spotting those Easter eggs with your friends and family. That is why movies are made. And DOFP is just that and even more. Why wait? Devour this excellent piece of filmmaking.… Expand

Not only is this one of the best movies of the year so far, it's one of the best superhero movies I've ever witnessed. The combination of both "First Class" and the original X-Men cast worked out so perfectly! Plus, James Mcavoy's performance as younger Professor X was the best part of the movie. Even Quicksilver was one of the best parts of the movie. Overall, everything meshed incredibly well and every character (for the most part) had their moments and were at their dynamic best! I don't care what others think, this is the best one in the series. This is truly worthy of an A+! Go see it!… Expand

Before I say any thing else, this movie is innovative on its chronological story-telling by doing something the source material has done, but no movie I can think of has ever tried: It's a good movie that undoes a bad movie! Walking into this film, I knew the time-travel aspect could enable the franchise to do more things and subtract installations that knee-capped it (Last Stand, Origins: Wolverine). Now onto the film ignoring that novelty; this film's story is bleak and it is really not afraid to express that. Some scenes feel like Dark Souls, but with weight. The story is that Wolverine is sent back via Kitty Pryde's powers to the early 70's to unite a depressed Charlies Xavier and incarcerated Erik Lensher to undo Mystique's act which pretty much dooms everyone. Also, Logan has to cope with the inconvenience that since he's sent back before the Weapon X project, he only has his bone claws. That's as much plot as I want to give away. Because the movie is running off of virtually two ensemble casts, any one with any dialogue of significance being a damn good actor. What's awesome is that even though the bulk of the film takes place in the past, Bryan Singer's trademarks of it being an X-men film are more prominent than Matthew Vaughn, First Class's director and this one's co-writer: It's theme is a reprise of X2's theme accompanied by a creative CG intro with a monologue by Patrick Stewart. It's focus when not on action, is just smart dialogue (this is an executive producer of House we're talking about here). The only two pieces of advice I give to those going seeing is to see X-men, X2, Last Stand (if you see the bad one before this, you'll appreciate what this film does), and First Class and prepare for a comic-book film darker than Captain America: The Winter Soldier.… Expand

Brian Singer brings X-Men back to the glory of when it was fully under his helm. This is taken from one of the better X-Men story lines. I do not recommend to those who aren't already X-fans. I don't think it's accessible unless you already know and like the X-Men universe to some degree, at least. But the film fully delivers to those of us who are fans. For us, this is a great summer movie.… Expand

By far the most compelling entry in the X-Men movie series so far. The focus is less on action and focuses more on the plot and characters. There's a grand spectacle to it all and plenty of dazzling special effects.

It tries to straighten out some of the wrinkles in the series convoluted timeline. In some ways it succeeds, but it the end it just adds a few more to keep things confusing when trying to see the big picture this movie universe has tied together. There are also some unanswered questions that are way too big to ignore, but the movie does it anyway. We are never told how Magneto got his powers back or how the heck Charles Xavier is even alive. They are some big flaws with the story of this movie, and the X-Men movie universe as a whole. However I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the movie anyway.

I guess by now I learned to accept the movies take on the fiction is flawed, and that the only way to fix it would be to reboot the series on the big screen. The writers try to set things right without a reboot, but instead all they do is chalk it up to time travel and ignore some glaring questions. Oh well, we just have to accept it.

However with this movie being so darn good, and the promise of excellent things on the horizon (stay until the end of the credits), it's not hard to do that. It's an awesome movie that does things no other superhero movie has tried yet, and the future of the X-Men movies has never looked brighter. I highly recommend it to all comic book fans.… Expand

Terrific movie. One of the best superhero movies I've seen. The cast was excellent and the story was good. That acting was terrific and it has one of my favorite scenes in a superhero movie. Days of future past does a fantastic job melding all the movies together and bringing the X-universe back on track. Singer's direction is noticeable as everyone and everything in every scene does it's part well.

However, as a bit of a fanboy of the comics, I am a little disappointed that some of the trailered characters (Warparth, Blink, Sunspot, etc.) played really small roles. Still, for the short time they spend on screen, they still check really awesome and are done justice (unlike the over saturated mess that was Last Stand.)

I was a little curious to the casting of Peter Dinklage. He plays the role extremely well, but feels a bit out of place. Fair play on the writers not putting in any short jokes (as there was a ton of opportunity to do so.)

Hats off to James McAvoy, a stunning portrayal of Xavier, again. Michael Fassbender is Magneto, to the point that he seriously outshines Sir Ian McKellen (who is now obviously far too old to continue to play Magneto.)

If I had to have gripe, it is that effects didn't really blow me away (while I hated Last Stand, it did have some spectacular scenes,) but that's not a bad thing since it did a far better job and telling a rich coherent story.

Overall:
While the effects may be toned down a little (from my point of view) X-Men Days of Future Past managed to tell a great story and represented its franchise fantastically! Bryan Singer: Welcome back!

Also what a great post credit scene! Can't wait for the next movie.

Side Note:
If anyone from the production team for the next move reads this: Please, please, please put Psylocke into the next movie. Properly, not that abomination from Last Stand.… Expand

When I first heard Bryan Singer was coming back to direct the next X-Men movie, I instantly was overwhelmed with excitement. The franchise: to say the least, has struggled without his guidance. Many saw X-Men: The Last Stand as aWhen I first heard Bryan Singer was coming back to direct the next X-Men movie, I instantly was overwhelmed with excitement. The franchise: to say the least, has struggled without his guidance. Many saw X-Men: The Last Stand as a disappointing end to the original trilogy, it was clear to many that 20th Century Fox didn’t know who to bring in to fill Singer’s shoes. Then X-Men Origins: Wolverine happened, and it seemed like the franchise would never return to the former glory it was at X-2. Then X-Men: First Class was released 2 years later, telling the origins of Professor X, Magneto and Mystique from the original trilogy, as well as introducing its own set of characters. While it impressed fans and critics, giving audiences hope that the franchise was returning to its former glory, many were confused towards the canon it had with the original trilogy, Wolverine had a cameo halfway through the film, making fans wonder how this movie and the others were linked.
Days of Future Past answers some major fanbase questions that have been asked forever, in an excellent way, giving a clear timeline of events that all audiences can understand. A timeline that not only connects the past (Creation of the X-Men in First Class) and the present (Following the regrets Wolverine faces for the losses he suffered since joining the team in the original movies), but also introducing a whole new future universe for the X-Men franchise, which unfortunately, wasn’t explored a minuscule as much as it should’ve been, with the excellent choices made that built on the universe.
The movie begins in the future, in a Terminator (post Judgement Day) looking world, as Trask Industries (ever notice Trask can be jumbled around to spell Stark? Iron Man doesn’t believe in equal mutant rights… philanthropist indeed) continue to send Sentinels after mutant and human kind alike, destroying the world. The X-Men, much less in number than they once were, have only one hope, to send a mutant back in time, and stop Trask Industries from gaining Mystique’s DNA, which is how they made their Sentinels so unstoppable, as they adapt to every mutant’s power that they face, in the way Mystique can shape shift. As Wolverine has a healing factor, they believe he is the only one whose mind can survive the journey to a key event, stopping Mystique from assassinating Bolivar Trask, which leads to the organisation eventually capturing her and using her DNA to build the unstoppable Sentinels that are wiping out the X-Men of the future. To do so Wolverine must reunite Charles and Erik, at a time when they hate each other the most.
With the cast from First Class reprising their roles, once again delivering top notch performances that suit Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto, but also bringing new elements of their characters to the table, such as Charles' depression and neglect of his powers and the responsibility he has when Logan comes to him from the future, begging for his help. With the support of Quicksilver (despite the cringe worthy costume, the character had a great persona, he was one of the coolest parts of the film) they free Magneto and go to stop Mystique from assassinating Trask. From there, the film is non-stop breath taking action, and I wouldn’t want to ruin anything else for you. However, I will say that the X-Men franchise is now on an open road thanks to the events of the film, anything is possible from here on out.
Bolivar Trask, played by Peter Dinklage (mostly known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones) brings an excellent performance to how Trask is: cold hearted and bitter towards mutants. He demonstrates how his life is consumed with the fear of mutants he as, but also admiring their very existence, and that he simply wants to protect humanity from the next step of its own evolution. Although, if anyone steals the movie, it has to be Jenifer Lawrence’s performance as Mystique. She shows a clear understanding of who the character is, and the dilemmas she faces throughout the whole film, with the desire to protect herself as well as her kind, and questioning who can help her achieve this successfully between Charles and Erik, and also who she feels more for. She becomes the main focus of the events that take place in DOFP and earns the amount of screen time the character deserves for the deep complexity she has. James McAvoy’s depressed Xavier makes the audience see the character in a way they never have before, enraged with the losses Erik caused him, taking his best friend along with his ability to walk if he doesn’t take a medication Beast designed to help him walk. This costs him the use of his powers and in the end, Charles has to make the choice as to what is more important. McAvoy also adds to the brilliant writing the film has with his captivating performance that shows when Charles Xavier became Professor X.
One major issue I found with the film was that everything in the future is extremely underused, so much potential development was cut so the story of the past could be focused on. Which makes sense, a film can only be so long, and the past is the major plot point that Logan needed to change, but the problem is that this still leaves fans with multiple questions. How did Charles come back? How did he contact Magneto? How did they discover Trask Industries’ plan, and agree to work together? What happened to all the other X-Men in this future? Bringing Xavier back was never even fully explained, he came back to life in the post credits scene of The Last Stand, and Logan found out at the very end of The Wolverine, but what they fail to explain is how Charles was able to come back. This was something the movies had been hinting at forever, that eventually got swept under a rug. A whole new cast of team members is introduced, including Bishop, Warpath and Blink (Bishop being one of my favourite X-Men, this was obviously very frustrating the moment the movie ended) but these characters get such little development. They’re introduced at the start, fighting the Sentinels the past created, clearly struggling. As Wolverine gets sent back in time, all the future gets connected to are the moments that Shadowcat struggles to hold a link between him and the past, (also, how did she get those powers? That was never explained either. I read it was to do with the Rogue scenes that got cut from the film) but I really wish that we could’ve seen more of the future team, without the development the past or present cast members had, they feel like extremely two dimensional characters. Which, in context with the comics, they certainly aren’t.
This doesn’t mean they give bad performances, Ian and Patrick are as good as ever, along with all previous cast members who return. It just means the film itself never intended to focus on this part of the universe, it’s just used to introduce what happened to the X-Men after The Last Stand in a way that won’t take 3 additional movies to explain. While the exposition feels rushed, it delivers a large amount of information in one go that everyone can follow. The events aren’t made overly complex, even kids would probably understand what’s happening. So, while the future had potentially great narratives which were neglected, the movie has to be applauded for the way in which it introduced what became of the X-Men in the future to the audience.
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine isn’t just a badass in this movie, he’s also an extremely relatable character for the audience. As we see what he sees, he becomes much easier to connect with, an understanding of his motives is easily gained. The audience sees the world he came from, and, like Logan, they know what’s at stake when he’s sent back in time, and why he’s so persistent with getting the help of those who he was told to. While others, like Charles, struggle to understand it. This makes the film much more suspenseful, because it makes you really want to see Logan succeed, because you’ve seen the events that took place in the past the way he sees them, before being thrown back to try and change it from ever happening.
*SPOILER PARAGRAPH*
I briefly mentioned earlier that DOFP puts the X-Men franchise on an open road, I wasn’t kidding. Literally anything after the events of First Class (Summing up, this includes the trilogy, Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine) now never happened. When Wolverine returns to the future, he sees so many X-Men who were once gone now back that it’ll almost certainly blow your mind. As DOFP ends, the question on everybody’s mind is “What happens next?” hopefully you stuck around, because if you did you saw Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur as he’s known at the time) in Egypt, building one of the pyramids, with four horsemen beside him, and an uncountable amount of Egyptians bowing to him. I honestly saw this coming. The post credits scene was just The Avengers all over again, as Fox clearly want to compete with Marvel Studios, but I certainly thought he looked awesome. With Bryan Singer directing once more, we’re almost certainly in for a treat, and I can’t wait to see my favourite X-Men villain on the big screen come 2016.
*Conclusion*
Many are calling DOFP the best superhero movie since The Dark Knight, I’m inclined to agree. While I love everything the MCU makes, they’re still diving into serious territory with the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and DOFP instantly returned the former glory the X-Men movies were once at when X-2 was first released. Marvel Studios’ movies are always certainly action packed and continue to be visual spectacles, but this is the deepest story arc in a superhero movie for a long time that has managed to genuinely exceed the expectations of critics and audiences alike. The X-Men franchise has certainly caught our attention once more, giving a taste at the potential the movies now once again have. I hope X-Men: Apocalypse continues to give the quality DOFP did, packing a huge punch, to the point it slaps audiences in the face as the credits roll.

And for the ladies, there's even some minor man candy, in which Hugh Jackman is seen again flaunting his 40-something-year-old body in a short nude sequence.

The casual viewers might find it impossible to catch onto all the characters at the beginning, but Days of Future Past handles this story exceedingly well, choosing to maintain the attention on a select few characters. As usual, Jennifer Lawrence steals the spotlight with her sassy, sexy portrayal of the classic Mystique, however, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are excellent in their roles as well and often maintain control over a storyline you'd think Logan himself usually ends up stealing.

Any casual or longtime certified X-Man shouldn't turn down the opportunity to see one of the finer entries in the X-Men franchise. It's a conceptually and visually stunning superhero story that's fast-paced and has enough dazzling direction, exhilarating action sequences, and moments of hilarity to make anyone firm believe that the days of X-Men's seemingly inevitable apocalypse -- and no, I'm not referring to the upcoming 2016 sequel -- are now officially over.… Expand

The performances were excellent from everyone ,yes some do get more screentime than others,but they are also so well developed and heartful,that it's hard not to feel attached to these characters,wolverine is again great ,Hugh Jackman really nails his role ,i can't think of anyone else that will do it better than him,James Mcavoy and Michael Fassbender deliver their best performances as proffesor x and magneto,Jennifer Lawrence as mystique was incredible,Evan Peters who plays quicksilver is absolutely awesome,even though he's got few scenes in the movie he completely steals the show in them.It's a great ensemble that goes from small characters to big ones ,but it constantly manages to make them more and more apealing and relevant to the story.The story itself is really good,if not a little bit complex and illogical which is unfortunately it's only weakness,see the story is handled extremely well ,the general feel ,the mood ,the atmosphere,the characters,time-travel element is handled mostly well,and i say mostly only because the events that happen here don't really make sense to the other films ,without spoiling anything expect to be asking questions left and right and getting really twisted about how certain things work out and how they fit into the general story of x-men.

What Bryan Singer doesn't completely nail in his story department ,he does in action ,needless to say it's intense,suspensful ,badass,spectacular and even horrifying at times.The stand out scene for me was quicksilver set piece ,remember matrix's introduction to the groundbreaking slo-mo bullet time ,well this movie takes that onto a WHOOOOLLLE new level,involbing quicksilver running at a killer speed in slow motion dodging bullets ,hitting guards,climbing on walls,in a beatifully ,visually and choreographically stunning set piece that will blow your mind,accompanied by some great music by Jim Croce,the rest of the action is just as good if not a bit repetitive,if this movie would solely be judged by the action i'd say it delivers and then some.

The movie is a wild ,emotional ride ,that is done with a huge respect to the franchise,further develops characters and gives our eyes a true eye-candy,it's one of the best films of this year,it's definetely worth watching and even if it does confuse a little with it's time-travel structure,it still remains my second favorite x-men movie to date,right after first class.… Expand

In order to garner full value of this movie, it is critical one has seen the prior X-men movies. Initially, I did not have high expectations for, yet another sequel. The story, plot and special effects are exceptional. This movie not only plays on the various attributes of the favorite X-men characters, but adds a few new wrinkles to the saga, as well as, provides sub-textual life lessons. This is a must see movie and I highly recommend the 3D version. I reserve the rating of 10 for those few "epic" films, therefore; I rate this particular movie a 9 and save the rating of 10 for the entire series. Go see this movie...… Expand

I watched the movie with a bad expectation about it, but that Xmovie surprised me, was not that tiring sequence as Xmen3 or XmenOriginsWolverine. It flows as well as drawings and comics. Regarding the storyline, is at the level of Captain America 2.

The last superhero movie that I saw that I thought was this good was Spiderman 2 with Tobey Maguire (and can't forget that Willem Dafoe cameo) and X-Men blows that movie out of the water. I've seen it four times already, and I'm ready for a fifth. Seriously, no movie has had me this engaged. Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Patrick Stewart as Professer X had the greatest bromance since Brokeback Mountain, and it had me sobbing in the theatre, along with those next to me. You can't remember a greater post-credits clip than the one schwarma scene in the Avengers, and this movie annihilates that one. You gotta wait till the end of the credits. Words cannot express how much this movie means to me, and how much it has affected me in the days after I experienced the beauty that is X-Men: Days of Future Past. Go see it, and don't forget the Kleenex and Vaseline.… Expand

I am a big fan of superhero movies, but even i can admit that the market is getting very crowded, nonetheless this does not halt my anticipation for each super-powered movie that comes out. This movie once again heads back in time to see Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy take the helm once again as the feuding main duo in a drama filled performance that will leave you feeling for each character and their own internal struggles. I feel this X-Men film is the best so far, with a good balance of action and story to keep it from becoming the bore fest it easily could have been, my only real criticism is that we didn't get much development, if any at all from the future characters themselves, but in fairness that was not the point in this film. It is very enjoyable and a must see for fans of superhero movies and also has enough story and heart to interest those who are not a fan of the genre.… Expand

Great story line and developed nicely. Maybe a little dragging but still the best story line of any X-Men movie so far. And as all of my family and friends and family have stated QUICKSILVER is worth the price of admission! Go see it!

They also use the dreaded Countdown technique where everything comes down to the last second, another overused movie technique in the last several years. This was good! The setting, 1973 is very strong and well done, and the cast have a real commitment to these films that just shines through everything. A clutch of excellent actors, every performance stands out.

Here's an equation every director should remember: too much talking = boredom. If I would compare this film to inception, then I would rather watch inception, because inception provided a great balance between the action and dialogue. Don't get me wrong, the actors were fantastic. The story idea was great, and I understand that time traveling called for a lot of talking to keep the audience aware of what is going on. However, there was A LOT of potential for some great action to take place in between the talking, whereas the x-men failed to deliver. After watching it, I can't believe rottentomatoes has a 91% rating on it. I would rank Cap. Am. Winter soldier way better than this film, whereas amazing spidey 2 would be the only major superhero flick so far this year, to be worse than x-men.… Expand

Welcome Back, Bryan Singer. You made a masterpiece. I was glad to see Wolverine as a main character and as a character who connects between Charles and Erik. It's impressive that any sort of moving narrative was pulled out of what was trying to be accomplished, there are so many moving parts and so much to address that it might be a headache for anyone unfamiliar with the franchise. But there is almost a bounty of narrative to be had and some extremely touching interactions of not only characters, but incarnations of selves. Nothing feels squandered or easily earned here, and so many wrongs have been righted. It's miraculous and perplexing at the same time, as the film concludes as a meta-feat: they were fighting for an alternate future by remaking history and well, they were also fighting for a better X-men franchise by rewriting past failures. I walked out of the theater feeling like part of me had actually been saved, and that my love and hope for this franchise, this world, had been rewarded. This is the best X-men film yet, and it does not neglect what came before but uses all of it. And there is only hope in the future.… Expand

If you liked the other X-men movies, you will definitely like this one. It was a bit darker tone then the others. But good story, good character progression and good action. Probably one of the most high-concept superhero films of recent years, Days Of Future Past is an exhilarating ride from start to finish. The innovative use of each mutant's powers make some of the action sequences utterly unique (the use of portals is particularly effective). There is a bit of an Inception feel to parts of the film flicking back between the past and the future. This is no criticism as far as I'm concerned. Even the 3D is pretty good, though not necessary.

Given the sheer number of characters involved it is inevitable that some get a bit short-shrift: It is no understatement to say that Storm has about twenty words in the entire movie, Havoc gets about a minute, even Bolivar Trusk - ostensibly a main villain - does not have enormous screen time. However that serves even more to make sure you don't take your eyes of the film; this one requires far more engagement than, say, Godzilla. Again, not a criticism.

The time travel element does raise a few contradictions - particularly for the ending. I won't spoil it as, despite its flaws, it is a brilliant end to a great film. One footnote: those waiting for the post-credit sequence will find it very confusing if not well-versed in the comics. It also really IS post credits, so you have to wait the best part of ten minutes for it.

All in all, a good film that carries on from the excellent First Class and makes far better use of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen than Last Stand did. Thoroughly recommend.… Expand

This is easily the best X-Men movie in its entire series. I have been a huge X-Men fan for decades and the story stayed mostly very close to the comic books. INTENSE ! ! 2 minutes into the movie the action starts. I must warn you, dont blink or you might miss something. You really have to stay focused because there is a lot to take in. Besides that, WOW, Jennifer Lawrence is amazing along with the rest of the cast. Did I mention Jennifer Lawrence....lol smoking hot when she transforms into a blue skin tight mutant is something to see. This weekend will be a busy one at the theatres. Block Buster for sure. I went to the Great Escape at the Harrisburg East Mall on the east shore. The east shore people for the most part dont know when to shut there FAT LIPS UP. On two occasions I had to stand up and tell a group of east shore people to shut the heck up, people are here to watch a movie, not to hear your fat lips flapping in the wind. I got clapped at for the one to have the balls to tell them to shut up. Then security came in and all was cool. And please you fat girls with cellulite, dont wear skin tight shorts or spandex, It makes people want to vomit, look in the mirror before you go out in public. The Regal Harrisburg 14 off of Progress Ave. and Caughey Drive is a great theater also but dont draw in the Harrisburg City crowd for the most part. I went to the midnite showing hoping the theater wouldn't have many people in it since it was Thursday night and I wouldn't have to deal with the type of people that show up at The Great Escape in the Harrisburg East Mall, which is a Regal theater also. But It had a good bit of people in it anyway. I still enjoyed the movie after the Security Guards came in. Yes, Security Guards to keep the A Holes in check. Go see this flick, you won't regret it. I love The Great Escape but not the near by people that show up on drugs and are disrespectful. Stay to the very very very end even when the lights come on and see if you can make sense of a 60 second clip. That one I can't figure out. If you can, please let me know. It was cool, just made everyone scratch there heads, LOL....Hope you enjoy the movie as much as I did. Just ask management to pop in once and a while to tell the rude people to shut up or leave. If you experience the same issue I did. The Great Escape is 1 of 2 of my favorite movie theaters. They have a great staff. I live 5 minutes away from Camp Hill Cinama Center but drive 20 minutes to the Great Escape because number 1 as I stated the staff is great and number 2 the chairs are cosy and just has a great atmosphere not to mention the sound is great. Dont get me wrong, your not always going to have to deal with the A Holes like I did tonite, but if you do just get a staff member to come in and put them in there place or the best thing to do is ask management or security staff to check in once in awhile, that way you dont miss any of the movie with your hard earned cash. If you were wondering what other theater is in my top 2 best theater list, It is The Regal off Progress Ave. and Caughey Drive as I mentioned in this review.… Expand

XM:DoFP is wonderful. It's not quite the story you remember from the comic books in the 80's, but the basic plot is there. Bolivar Trask has created a series of military robots known as the Sentinels, whose sole purpose is to hunt down andXM:DoFP is wonderful. It's not quite the story you remember from the comic books in the 80's, but the basic plot is there. Bolivar Trask has created a series of military robots known as the Sentinels, whose sole purpose is to hunt down and kill the mutant threat. Unfortunately, the Sentinels figure out that the threat is larger than that, and end up destroying all of human civilization. Wolverine must go back in time to stop the event that leads to the initial government funding of the Sentinels program.

And of course, we are introduced to more mutants. Bishop is able to absorb energy from his fellow mutants and blast his foes with it. Blink, aside from being cute as hell, has an amazing portal ability that will leave you wanting to see more. Quicksilver simply steals the show with his incredible speed.

Jennifer Lawrence is given a greatly increased role this time around, no doubt because of the success of her career in other films. And Michael Fassbender continues to grow into the role of the complicated Magneto.

It's worth noting that X3 did a lot of damage to the franchise. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the ending of this film, but it does attempt to right the sins of the past.… Expand

Wow, all my monies spend on watching previous X-Men and Wolverine movies have been erased with Days Of Future Past. Quicksilver was the best and I didn't miss the post-credit scene introducing Apocalypse.

As someone who actually read the comic, I was a little pessimist about this film after I watched the trailers, but I was wrong. This is not another film where Wolverine is the main character in a Xmen movie, as we have seen in X1, X2 (Which I like, both) and The Last Stand (Which I dislike... a lot) each character has their own magic in the time they appear, except maybe Storm who was a little absent in the film, but it probably was because of Berry's pregnancy.… Expand

The story is set some timeBryan Singer returns in the director's chair for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', and boy does his amazing talent show. This has got to be one of the best "X-Men" movies I have seen since 'X2: X-Men United' (2003).

The story is set some time in the future where a group of robotic inventions called "Sentinels" take over man and mutant kind and has enslaved them. We are then introduced to the main plot of the movie. We see Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Storm (Halle Berry), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), Shadowcat (Ellen Page) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) return. The plan is to send Wolverine back to 1973 and stop Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) from killing the inventor of the sentinels, Bollivar Trask (Peter Dinklage of 'Game of Thrones') and starting this war in the first place.

Obviously it's not as easy as this, Wolverine must convince the young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) who is still distraught after what happened in 'X-Men: First Class' (2011) what with Mystique leaving and Erik (Michael Fassbender) disappearing.

Wolverine manages to convince Charles, Erik and Hank aka "Beast" (Nicholas Hoult) to help him try and convince Mystique that she must not start this war.

This movie perfectly balances special effects artistry, self-aware humor, and emotional drama. The one scene that stood out for me involves a fast-moving mutant named Peter Maximoff aka "Quicksilver" (Evan Peters) who is very funny and I cannot wait to see more of him in future "X-Men" movies.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' maybe crowded in terms of the fact that there are so many mutants and it jumps back and fourth between the 1970s and the future, but unlike the mess that is 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' (2014), which was incoherent and jumped back, fourth, back and back, then fourth again, this "X-Men" movie felt clean and superior.

Definitely satisfied, one of the best.… Expand

I haven't had this much fun with a superhero movie since The Avengers. This movie is fantastic. The story was great and cohesive, the characters were well acted and awesome, the action was amazing and the ending of this movie is badass. Pretty much the best X-Men movie by far. The story is great, the connection between old and young x-men is decent. The cast is outstanding. The action scenes are awesome. Do not hesitate to go to the cinema and watch a 3D version. It is worth it!

best X-MEN movie so far, and gets the hype for mutant apocalypse on the rails!! the most amazing thing about DOFP is that eliminate the whole mess that the last stand bring over the X-MEN movie universe

Damn. This was disappointing. Lets just start off by saying this is a good movie, but not the fantastic film that I was led to believe by all the positive reviews. There are things that I loved, things that I hated, and things I foundDamn. This was disappointing. Lets just start off by saying this is a good movie, but not the fantastic film that I was led to believe by all the positive reviews. There are things that I loved, things that I hated, and things I found mind-boggling.

Things that I loved: 1) The introduction and huge importance of the Sentinels. It's about time one of the films introduce the Sentinels, which play a big role in the overall story of the X-Men. I also like the depiction of these mutant hunters. It did a great job presenting a huge threat to X-Men and all mutants in the universe. 2) The concept of time travel. I like the idea of time travel in movies, and it always interests me how each story takes the idea in a different direction. In this version, it's your consciousness that inhabits your original body in the past, and not your whole being. Great idea! 3) Quicksilver. This guy's ability and attitude fit the film perfectly! Professor X and Magneto have such a serious demeanor, and he brought some good comic relief. He also had the best sequence in the whole film. 4) The action sequences were very well done and entertaining... but this leads into...

Things that I hated: 5) There are way too many action sequences. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. You have to balance out the action with the character stories, other wise you as a viewer end up not caring about what's happening. 6) Mystique's character. Wow! I usually think Jennifer Lawrence does an amazing acting job, but her character was written so one dimensionally... No one could have played this character and made her interesting. She might have said the same speech 3 times in the film. Yawn. 7) Magneto's character. I LOVED Michael Fassbender's Magneto in First Class, because he had great depth. It's the complete opposite in this film. I have no idea what his motivations are in this film. They spent so much time on Professor X's character, that we got very little out of Magneto beyond him just doing bad things. 8) *SPOILER* Everything that happened in the original trilogy has become pointless!!! Remember all the pain and suffering us fans went through when each X-Men made huge sacrificed for the greater good of humanity? Well I guess non of it matters anymore, because as a result of the ending everything has been null and voided. Why Hollywood, Why?! *END SPOILER* 9) The 3D is ugly. Ok, this is not a knock on the film per se, but there were so many sequences where the background looked completely fake. Honestly, I couldn't tell you if it was the film's bad use of green screen, or the terrible use of 3D to create depth in the background. It was a big distraction for me.

Things I found mind boggling: 10) Professor X's magical medicine. Why does taking a drug that reduces your mutant ability also negate your inability to walk after having a bullet hit your spine and paralyze you? What purpose did having Professor X walking around in this film serve other than the convenience of placing him in the same scenarios as the other characters. Thinking back... was there any scene in this film they couldn't shoot with him in a wheel chair? He does end up in a wheel chair anyways. He was taking the drug in the beginning the get the voices out of his head... he never said walking was important to him. Whatever... 11) Magneto's ability extends past metal bending. I'm not an engineer, and I'm assuming that Magneto isn't either, yet Magneto is able to weave metal through the interiors of the first models of the Sentinels to control them. Huh?! How does Magneto magically know the circuitry within the Sentinels without dismantling them first? This felt really dumb to me... but I guess it gave the audience a good chance to see how Magneto can make metal do whatever he wants. 12) The future. Terminator 2 anyone? I'm sorry, but this future was very unbelievable to me. The human vs. mutant war desolated the whole Earth?! I didn't see a war... I just saw innocent mutant being hunted down like dogs by the Sentinels. Where was the backlash from the mutant population that destroyed the planet? I didn't see that... so we have to assume that humans killing off the mutant population with this Sentinels caused their planet to become unlivable. Well that's dumb, because the humans just screwed themselves, because they have to live on the planet too. Also, where are these Sentinels coming from? Must be from some sort of factory, because the humans (which we never see), are pumping these things out by the hundreds. There has to be a place that's not destroyed, where the humans are living in a better place than what we're able to see. It would be nice to have a face behind all of this... the Sentinels are not controlling and producing themselves... right?

Don't get me wrong... I did say quite a few negative things about the film, but this is still a good movie to watch. Just make sure to turn off your brain.…… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most of the cast from First class returns 10 years later...This is the best part of the movie...

The problems begin by adding Professor X in the future when in xmen 3 he dies. Yeah I know he shows up in another body in the after credits, but that body is not the same. He should have just showed up at the end with everyone else. My next problem is shoehorning wolverine into this movie. It was annoying in Xmen first class and its even more annoying making him the protagonist in this movie. But I understand he had to be there to erase the mistakes of those 5 movies which were Xmen1-3 and the 2 wolverine movies. I loved this idea. But this would have worked better if there was no wolverine.

In the comic kitty pride was the one who went back in time. But it would not have worked in this film because she was not born yet. This would have been a great way to introduce quicksilver using his speed to go back in time...Wait...Where have I seen that before? Anyway why not introduce a new mutant that can time travel or send bishop back like she was doing to at the beginning of the movie.

Now comes the part with quicksilver. Why don't we see Emma frost or Scarlet witch and since its 10 years later why doesn't quicksilver look like a 9 year old?

The other thing they forgot to mention is Nightcrawlers birth and Azazel being the father. Then there's the beast transformation that never was explained. Lastly Magneto using train rails to control the Sentinels in which they still disobey him.

I wish they address some of these matters in the next movie. So for now its a good sequel to First class.… Expand

Probably the best X-men movie to date. If you're not really into the whole Marvel Universe, you might not get as much out of the movie as the really fans, because you'll be missing stuff. Good action, impressive CGI, if you're into Marvel,Probably the best X-men movie to date. This is definitely one of the or maybe even the best X-Men movie in the franchise.It has everything a fan wants from an X-Men movie.Developed characters,good action scenes and tons of easter eggs from the other movies but my problem with thisThis is definitely one of the or maybe even the best X-Men movie in the franchise.It has everything a fan wants from an X-Men movie.Developed characters,good action scenes and tons of easter eggs from the other movies but my problem with this movie is that at the end it kind of slowed down and the action sequences were made well but they just werent exciting.Also I think Jennifer Lawrence was miscasted as Mystique.I personally liked Rebecca Romijn more.Also the editing during the fight in Paris was horrible and made me rage because instead of focusing more on the action in a normal 16:9 format Brian Singer wanted to make it feel real with the 1970 4:3 format bullsh*t.… Expand
