I felt like the story line had more action, while also leaving plenty of time for story building and character development. This movie also had far less of the visually jarring CGI of the first movie (while there are moments, it was far less egregious). I thought the ending was much better, and fit much better than in the first movie. Overall this is easily my favorite of the "superhero" movies from either Marvel or DC, with the first Wonder Woman being second. Expand

Also part of that score is in tribute to trying to put a Trump in a movie to show his psychosis from an objective point of view.

That said -- this film was as pleasurable as a frat boy puking into your mouth. Just past the halfway point where Lord was pitching his new 'success' to his son -- I wanted to walk out. The problem is it was my home and there was nowhere to walk to. SHAZAM? AQUAMAN? HARLEY QUINN? Little 'nothing' DCU movies that were 100 times better. The first WONDER WOMAN? 10,000 times better.

The film reminds of me sequels that were made in the 70s. They'd have a hit like POSEIDON or PLANET OF THE APES and release a low budget piece of garbage in a cynical cash grab. "Even if half the people see it we make twice the money of the first film!"

I promise you the REAL budget for this was under 50 million. Shatner's STAR TREK V was better than this. One of the Star Wars prequels (the middle one) was better. Even JUSTICE LEAGUE was more watchable somehow.

I will NEVER rewatch this film. I turned the dishwasher on halfway through because I hoped it would drown it out somehow.

As a crazy big fan of the first film I'll say this film should have never been released. It's THAT bad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Apparently there was rumors that had messages within the movie. Maybe it did, but didn't bother me all that much. Kristen Wiig didn't bug me all that much, but you do expect a joke here and there. Just wish yhere was more Cheetah. Patty Jenkins has got to fid her footing in finding a believable bad guy. The Max Lord in the comics was ruthlessness evil. Didn't believe in this bad guy. And Chris Pine really didn't need to be in this movie. Could have done without, but that's my opinion. And as 8 see it, many others. Loved the first movie, gave it 9.5. But this one, I give it a 6.5. So be warned. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 1 point for the beauty of Gal Gadot.

A broken teenage girl fairy tale riddled with poor logic and woke messages.

- It’s an action movie, yet the movie had minimal actions. One of the reasons is that Kristen Wig, the actor of Cheetah, is not an action film actor.

- The movie could happen in any year. It made zero use of the year 1984.

- Diana’s mother didn’t want Diana to learn to fight in the first movie, yet she allows Diana to compete in a fighting/sports competition in this one.

- Diana had no problem with her teammates using guns in the first movie, yet she says “I hate guns” in this one. Pure propaganda.

- The antagonist wanted to be number one in the world. He wanted to rule the world, not to destroy the world. Yet the movie made him destroy the world.

- Cheetah in this movie is set to be as strong as Wonder Woman. Yet she can be electrocuted, but Diana can’t. They were both in the water, connected by the same cable.

- Poor choice of actress of Cheetah. Her wish was to be as smart, strong and sexy as Diana. Kristen Wig is 47 and Gal Gadot is 35. Wig never displayed the same level of smartness, strength and sexiness as Gadot in this movie.

- The movie had a white guy attacking Kristen Wig’s Barbara character like any person will ever want to rape a uncharming person like Barbara.

- In the end people just act like the world wasn’t almost destroyed by almost everyone’s wish, and just lived with it.

- It was 1984, yet the movie had the actors saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas in the end.

- Regardless of all the BS, the movie managed to last for 150 minutes.

Strip all the wokeness and maybe the movie can have more time to tell the story better.

First the good. Pedro Pascal, Kristen Wiig, and Chris Pine are wonderful and really carry the movie. There are some really cool fight sequences, and Gal Gadot is great as Wonder Woman.

The not so good... The script is a bit of a mess. Shortcuts abound -- sometimes WW discovers powers that she just happens to need in the moment. Some things are never fully explained when you need them to be explained, you're just expected to pick up on it. There's a scene where WW is speaking in a low voice and can be heard perfectly, when the ambient noise is causing the other character to yell to be heard. And one rescue scene is just irredeemably bad. Lots of little things like that that pull you out of the moment.

In all, it's not a terrible movie. It's just not a great movie, and as a fan of the superhero genre I doubt I'll ever watch it a second time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I don't know why people are giving such horrible reviews the film is an amazing and emotional ride the action maybe corny but this film has so much more to offer with Gal Gador giving her best performance in this role yet! And Pedro Pascal gives a fantastic performance as Maxwell Lord and Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig do great in the supporting roles. The story is not hard to understand like many here are saying and I've even seen some troll reviews already which is saddening hopefully more people give this film a chanse as it truly is one of the best DCEU movies so far Patty did a great Job!
Also I do want to mention that the film is not against Men I watched it and didn't feel like the film was trying to say anything about me being bad because of me being a man.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7/10. This movie has a message and a good one. But it doesn't deliver it very well.
- "You can't have everything you want" is the message. But Diana keeps the relationship she had with Steve 100% intact with the new one. She doesn't struggle at all, if she knows she has to let go, why haven't we seen her confront or even imagine that possibility even once in the movie? That's why the scene when she has to leave Steve is average at best.
- About the main "villains". First, we start with Cheetah. I only need one word: Why? She is this invisible woman, and all she wants is to be like Diana. And when she gets that wish, she's happy. But NOOO, she has to be greedy. I have nothing against greedy characters but you can't just turn a very sympathetic and innocent woman into a selfish one without any development. A complete turnoff. You should have kept her intact, wish granted, and make her CHOOSE to help Diana at the expense of her potential new life.
- About the other one. I make this question: Why does he want to give wishes to everybody? We don't know that as well. "Oh he is a loser and he wants everybody to have great lives". No. That's poor. Sufficient but poor. You need to give him better motivation.
- This movie touches on some aspects of "parenting". But we never see that developed as well

Every choice made here is weightless. Predictable. I think Wonder Woman, the first one, is the best DCEU movie to date and it's sad to see WW84 like this, a by-the-book superhero movie, typical superhero stops supervillain because hey "that's what they do". The ending is good I must say, but it's not about the end goal, it's about the journey, and whilst Wonder Woman was a Hillclimb, with Hades as the only flat surface on an otherwise very challenging road, WW84 was a Highway, boring to drive. Even the first scene, with the young wonder woman, whilst it was great (and the girl who portrayed her did a great job), is pointless. "That goddess or whatever was selfless and gave her life away to save the others. You shouldn't try to be successful, the time will come" like cmon. THAT CHILD worked SO HARD to win that challenge and YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST TAKE HER VICTORY LIKE THAT? See, I'm mad about that scene, not because it was bad, but because I CARED about young Diana and felt bad for her. But the scene is pointless cause we never see Diana cope with her shi**y caretaker or mom or whatever. It doesn't matter anyway since we get to see Diana saving people in the next scene and it's all good. It was the best scene of the movie and it was worthless. That's the last critique I have about the movie. Too lengthy, all filler, no actual cake

The casting was great, like always. Love Gal Gadot. WW vs Cheetah was a bad CGI fight. And my hopes for a great DCEU movie are fading away

The plot feels like it was ripped from an old Saturday morning cartoon. Feels like the entire point was to find a way to bring Chris Pine back, which IMHO, was not necessary at all and it shows. He does nothing besides crack some "dude outta time" jokes, which obviously have been done before and were corny the first hundred times.. There is cringe everywhere. The mall scene feels like a glorified Pepsi commercial. Character motivations make no sense and yet at the same time everything is extremely predictable. The action is fine, and even the acting is ok, but the story is outright terrible. Maybe it's due to the lack of big movie releases in 2020 that so many critics are enjoying this film... That's understandable. As a pure get-away mindless fun time, then this movie passes the test. If you were hoping for anything grander, then you may be disappointed. This movie is not very good and will be forgotten in time. However, since this year has been crap, if you can find enjoyment in it then I envy you. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes, it’s a super hero movie, yes it’s PG13, so somewhat aimed at kids. It’s also cheesy (in both eye-rolling and fun ways). It has a terrible, convoluted plot and all the trappings of the super hero blockbuster ilk. Oh yes and it’s really long. But none of those are the real problems with Wonder Woman 1984. The real problems are in the way the characters and story are written. At the heart of it is the flatness of Wonder Woman as a two dimensional character. She pines (pun intended) for a single dude she loves but shows absolutely no passion for. Her character expresses virtually no humor. She never seems to get angry or express emotions with much intensity. By contrast Kristen Wiig’s character is given too much relatability. She’s downtrodden, overlooked and under appreciated. She’s funny, self deprecating and good at her job. She wants to feel empowered and as the viewer you can’t help but hope she succeeds. You also understand her motives which makes her a simpathetic villain who is much more interesting that the titular heroine. Similarly Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord is a (mostly) relatable villain. He wants to succeed and makes some terrible decisions to do so. But his character is ultimately redeemed as is Wiig’s when Wonder Woman basically talks them out of being bad. Yeah. No big final showdown - no punitive ass-kicking here. She momentarily talks the world out of being selfish via mass media. More importantly, in this part of the DC universe there’s the opportunity for strong female super heroes that girls and kids can look up to. In Wonder Woman 1984 the two female leads are either dispassionate and boring or evil and vain. This is where Chris Pine’s character Steve comes in, making an example of self sacrifice to move the story forward and save the day. That’s right - the game-changers in a movie called Wonder Woman 1984 are both men. And it’s a shame. The least I was expecting was for the heroine to actually fulfill the role of hero here. I kept hoping that perhaps Barbara Ann Minerva (Wiig) would come to her senses and team up with Wonder Woman to vanquish Lord and set the world straight. But instead, Chris Pine‘s character sacrifices himself again enabling the world to be saved. And Pedro Pascal’s ”villain”? He comes to his senses and abdicates his evil power (of.......granting...wishes?!?) to be a good dad to his kid. Which kind of sucked the wind out of this mess of a movie altogether. The villain turns out to be a huge nothingburger. One can’t help but think moviegoers everywhere deserve a better movie than this. But women and girls definitely deserve better written characters to believe in. Characters who are fully realized women who can stand and fall on their own. And those characters deserve better plots in which to exist. Expand

The director really undid any credit from the first movie, and I am sure Warner is claiming this is all due to Covid-19 and counting on the bailout to hide this failure. Given the 10s, the shills are out but nothing can cover-up how bad this is. Hell, they had to keep Gal showing a lot of skin during the entire movie to keep any interest and distract attention from things like the lasso dissapearing from both her hands and suddenly being coiled on her him in 1/10th of a second, or being normally dressed to being in WW costume in same amount of time (after she hops out of the car mid movie). This is a parody, not a real movie. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is cat woman bad. I can't imagine how in the world anyone can see this movie is ... even decent. Let's look at all these bad plot points. There's a magic wishing stone that drives everything about the movie. Woman womans invisible jet, steve trevors return, cheetah, maxwell lord. There's no c haracter development, just a deux ex machina that makes everything. And there's no answer as to how maxwell knows so much about the stone. Characters jujmp from one set to another with no real understanding. Steve Trevor, from 1942, Can drive a car from the 80s ,a modern age plane and seems aware of everything going on. It's like captain america if it was written by a 6-yerar old. Wonder woman, for 40 years doesn't see anyone else. She just waits for a man. And are we going to talk about the life of the man he took. Did he have ajob? If he were a woman, wouldn't we say somthing that she's having non consientual sex . And why is this movie 2 and a half hours. This plot meanders. We don't learn anythinig that changes the plot in the last half of the movie. Expand

The plot was incredibly muddled and honestly didn't make sense. That's usually okay in an action movie, but honestly there was hardly any action either.

What we were left with was a 2.5 hour slog of lazy writing, poor character development, a glaringly inconsistent setting and an incredibly over-the-top and/or cheesy performance by a lot of the cast. It's a shame too because these cast members are usually quite excellent in other roles. Thanks to the lackluster visual effects, incredibly cringey writing and rather underwhelming directing, these top-grade talents seem more like they're performing dress rehearsals for a high school play.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Probably one of my favorite superhero movie. It's inspirational, the vilains have more depth than an average movie of the genre. Wonderwoman is powerful yet vulnerable enough to give us powerful heroic messages. Like in the first movie Chris Pine is an excellent sidekick, helping the main character without stealing the spotlight. the soundtrack is really good and celebrates the DC cinematic Universe in some ways.
My main issue with the film is the SFX. Really bad CGI in some scenes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Patty Jenkins and DC Comics should be embarrassed by this disaster. This was two and a half hours of my life I will never get back. I really liked the first Wonder Woman and went into this one with an open mind and positive attitude only to get an hour into the film and 'wishing' for it to be over. It is really that bad. If you are at least hoping for a cool 80's soundtrack to bring a little redemption to the film, you will disappointed there too. Not a single 80's song. This is absolutely the perfect film to put an exclamation point on 2020. Expand

What works are Kristen Wiig’s performance and character development (the real highlight of the film), the combination of setting and aesthetics (1980s DC was done well and looked good), and an impressive final battle. What doesn’t work are the elements that plague all superhero films: thin writing, cliches, an uneven tone, and abundant cheesiness (it’s hard to watch without rolling your eyes at least twice). What’s fascinating is that the least interesting part of the film is the heroine - the titular character; Wiig’s more grisly, grounded, cynical character, however, makes the film worth experiencing. Gal Gadot has proved us that her acting skills are exceptional! Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord is a cunning villain and has a style that resonates with the ’80s very well and is one of the film's highlights! Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah was character-driven and had pure rawness towards the end, even though I would’ve liked to see her be explored more. This movie is directed so that it looks similar to the 80s film and TV and some people may fail to see it that way. The whole point of it having the film to be driven by emotion and acting is to share memories with that era. Watch the movie without hate! Make sure to enjoy the music! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Expand
