Woman Woman's speech at the climax of the movie, shot as a extreme closeup, is the message of the movie, explaining how people shouldn't be all about consumerism and selfishness. Maybe that message is tied to the setting in 1984, when the get-rich, enough is never enough mindset infected America. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In few words, *it was bad as Captain Marvel*.
They tried to fit too much into this movie, 150 minutes of running time wasn't enough for that. They could have cut or shorten the cringe mall scene which contributes nothing to the plot. This movie suffers many plotholes, boring and cringe dialogues, forced dumb jokes, unfinished character developments and bad CGI.

- The main villain's son, who I don't even remember his name, is way off this movie. That kid can't even act. Well he's just there, because the main villain is supposed to have son...right.

- How can WW1 pilot control modern fighter jet easily? No fighter jet is parked ready to fly, with fully fueled. And no fully fueled fighter jet has a range to fly DC to Cairo. - Max returns to white house and immediately finds his son. From out of nowhere. How convenient.

- Ending is a huge mess.

WW84 is at least better than Suicide Squad, and Aquaman is a masterpiece compared to this movie.
WW84 is Captain Marvel of DCEU.

Gal Gadot and Pedro Pascal acting was good but that was not enough to make this movie great. In first movie, everything went right but in this one some things went right and some went wrong.

Yes, this movie doesn't deserve high rating but neither does it deserve low rating. Overall, you should watch it if you have watched 1st one and see for yourself, don't go by other people reviews.

At a point I started thinking like when this movie will end even though few scenes were good - ww running after denouncing her wish and the truck flipping - apart from these scenes ww84 is just a crap and it levels with JL. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WW84 was an ok film. The story had an interesting premise but some elements were poorly exploited. The Cheetah came way too late into the movie and that didn't setup that villain very well. The main villain was fine but got too much screen time. Renouncing a wish should have been more spectacular and include a time factor. The FX were not always accurate. Some composite scenes were pretty bad (children pickup by WW), some felt totally CGI. The flight scenes were pretty good. The acting was solid from the main actors, less from the rest. I like the emotional parts but the Christmas scene at the end felt incredibly cheesy. What happened to Cheetah ? Don't know. The music was average at best. I give it a 60%. Although it's not bad movie, it's structure and story decision is left to be desire. The second wish for Cheetah, just broke the main accepted premise. Expand

Certainly not perfect but a wonderful (sic) adventure where we see no real villain and the hero is truly heroic rather than just a cheesy badass.

With the negatives in the the characters being caused by character flaws, lust or fear of failing their child or losing the one they love the movie immediately adds more thought than the average comic book movie where the baddie is the baddie because that's just what they are.

In this the baddie is flawed and with temptation those flaws threaten to destroy them and all they love. It's not black and white clarity which some might have a problem with, along with the fanastical events that follow.

If you can step out of your conventional mind and go with the flow, appreciate the sentiments of the film you'll get a lot out of it. But if you just want to see Wonder Woman be a badass CGI monster puncher you're going to be disappointed.

The action (what little there is) is poorly executed largely using mediocre CGI. The pacing is slow and tedious and the numerous characters are undercooked despite it's bloated runtime. I was so excited to watch this movie, Wonder Woman in 2017 was such a wonderful film, and Gal Gadot actually saved Batman v. Superman in some ways for me, and the cast of this movie deserved so much better. Poor storytelling, bad development, the first ten minutes were a flashback to young Diana and it was the best scene of the entire movie, made me believe Diana was going to relate to her past experiences and try not to cheat her way through life, but nothing made me feel like she learned anything. She whined and cried over Steve after (spoiler, duh) he comes back and has to die again. The resurrection of his character felt forced and unnecessary, and Barbara Ann Minerva was such a poor character. Pedro Pascal truly is the one who carried this movie, as he played an over the top Maxwell Lord, and even if the his goals didn’t make sense, his character had a full arc that, at the end, felt like it was given justice. Can’t say shy about Wonder Woman or Cheetah, who again, they did such a poor job with. Poor Kristen Wiig. This cast has way too much to talent to bring such a slow, lackluster story with barely any memorable scenes or action. DC’s only good movies are Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, and Shazam! And I can TOLERATE Birds of Prey. This movie was too pushed, and had so much expectation, but quite literally gave up before it even began, and it’s a damn shame. Expand

Green Lantern is a masterpiece compared to this.
Story written by 12 year old, action is... well I literally fell asleep at the car chase scene... Loved the first movie, but this... 2 and a half hours I will never get back :(

The movie starts off relatively simple but not necessarily bad, The movie is set in 1984, Where we meet Barbara (Kristen Wiig) a very dull and generic character introduced in the most basic way possible, has to help the FBI find out about a mysterious artifact, that the movie later reveals can grant wishes. The movie has almost robotic side and background characters that look very uncomfortable. The movie also pretty much just copy and pasted the dynamic between Diana and Steve without adding anything new to their dynamic, ignoring the fact that they have been apart for decades, And when the movie tries to change the dynamic it's just Steve being an Idiot for 5 minutes straight. The main “Villain” Max Lord (Pedro Pascal) is decent as a character and like all characters in movies or television has some generic character traits. Also, The actions scenes have a lot of unnecessary slow motion shots ,The CGI is very low quality for a movie with an Estimated budget of $200 million and I felt no emotion during this movie. I noticed that Gal Gadot seems like she is really trying to make Wonder Woman seem real and have some personality but with all the random slow motion in fight senses and her terrible side and background characters her whole performance is just stuck in between all of these different things that make the movie bad.The narrative of the movie is so generic it made me cringe when I saw it, and In the end the movie ignores all the chaos that Max Lore caused. I think “Wonder Woman 1984” is a disappointment and a terrible sequel to the original movie, I give “Wonder Woman 1984” a 2.5 to a 3. Expand

Whose idea was this garbage and where do I even start? OK, 40 min in and I already found few plot holes, tons of things make no sense including the villain. Why does he do what he do, what he was trying to achieve? Makes no sense. The "fish out of water" thing kinda wears off real quick and adds almost nothing to the story. The guy from WW2 does not know what fireworks are? seriously? Same with prologue part, has no reason to be there whatsoever.
There is a "teleportation" part in the middle, feels very out of place. And whole scene prior to that could have been easily removed, it adds nothing to story. There is also an anti-hero here that learns and can do stuff just in few hours, makes no sense.
The whole "wishing" thing does not make any sense as well, what if people wish opposite things? Or identical wishes? Bruce Almighty, anyone? (this is not spoiler, it is in trailers)

The Ending is not only stretched, (movie is definitely feels 20-ish min too long) but just overall weird and kind of anticlimactic, no cool scenes at all. And everthing comes back to normal like nothing happened. The whole movie feels like it does not need to exist. I am just so disappointed, I had faith in this movie and like 2020, it is a dumpster-fire.

Knew it was in trouble when a bad guy went sailing through the big toy drum. Got progressively dumber from there. I know sometimes paying good money to see a dud movie in a theater can be aggravating; WW84 made me angry about the cost of the streaming service.

BACKGROUND

I was very excited for this movie when it was initially announced. I was even more excited when we were told it would be coming straight to HBOMax because of the pandemic. I thought it would be a nice Christmas present but boy was I wrong. I honestly don't know how this movie made it off of the cutting room floor. STORY

The film has a double opening structure that artificially extends is ridiculously long length even more. from then on the movie begins to showcase the poor writing skills of director Patty Jenkins. The entire film is based around a Macguffin that basically every character wants for their own purposes. There is no explanation given for how the Macguffin even made it into the movie and why it is important. I guess it's meant for us to suspend disbelief. The Macguffin causes all kinds of trouble that WW now has to undo and by the end of the movie it becomes clear that nothing that happened in this movie will have any lasting effect on the future of the franchise. EFFECTS

The film's CGI isn't too bad overall. Kristen Wiig as Cheetah looks pretty good in my opinion. The main issue I had was with the wire work of the lasso effects and how WW uses them. It looks very low budget and they could have cleaned it up more. CHARACTERS

Wonder Woman is living her life as an Anthropologist at the Smithsonian in D.C. and for some reason still hasn't gotten over Steve Trevor despite him being dead for DECADES. Kristen Wiig plays Barbara Ann Minerva (Cheetah) who is basically a dorky scientists that wishes she was as beautiful and sought after as Diana. Pedro Pascal does his best as the sleazy, snake oil salesman Maxwell Lord. Steve Trevor is basically the same as the previous movie. The plot revolves around these 4 main characters and their interactions with the Macguffin. QUESTIONS -If WW can fly why didn't she use that ability in BvS or JL? -Why did WW swing between lightning bolts when she was already FLYING?
-Why does Maxwell Lord have an Asian son that has no purpose in the plot?
-What was the point of the Golden Armor when it is ripped to shreds so easily by Cheetah? -Why doesn't Maxwell just have someone wish Diana dead?
-Why is this movie so long? -What was the point of the Amazon Olympics opening sequence?
-Why did Steve Trevor inhabit some random guy's body and why was Diana ok with that?

MY SCORE:

4/10 this movie was totally unnecessary. The plot was incredibly stupid, the characters were very forgettable and this film did nothing to setup future installments. They've already announced a sequel in development. I sincerely hope they bring back the writers of the first movie and don't let Patty Jenkins anywhere near the script.

This is a movie that straight up fires cringe after cringe without any pause to think if it's even worth it? The story is typical "be careful what you wish for" we've seen done to death. The CGI is just awful and has a lot of uncanny valley effect that straight up makes some scenes look like it's from an old 2008 video game. The plot is so riddled with plot holes and nonsensical cringe that it makes Bollywood movies look good. This movie is awful. Every single person involved in this movie should feel bad for making such an awful movie. This bloated mess is 2.5 hours long so prepare to suffer watching this mess.
