The Emoji Movie is the best movie ever made. I cannot believe that one film could sum up all our lives, but it does. The film is terrible, bland, short, and boring, just like ourselves. The Emoji Movie shows us that we're all just trapped in our own world, we're useless, and we should only have one sole purpose. The film is too good for all our puny human brains to process, and it even made Kim Jong Un cry. If you don't like the film, it is because you don't understand the sheer beauty and perfection that the film delivers. Go clean up your dirty minds and keep watching it until you understand it. 10/10, pure cinematic gold. I loved every damn second of it. The premise was wonderful, the jokes never got boring or overused, the product placements were well-intentioned and definitely didn't feel like I was being beat over the head with a10/10, pure cinematic gold. One day, a movie will come out in the future that will change the world for the better, a movie that will change the fabric of our society for the better, a movie that will end world hunger, stop terrorism and end the useless hate between the races of man and bring in the dawn of the next evolution of our species.

I always thought he was a crazy old man until today... Until the day I watched the Emoji movie, you see, the Emoji movie is one of the greatest movie ever made and I will tell you why. Not even a single second after leaving the theater, my son was cured of his homosexuality, touting how much he wants to **** that blue haired emoji", I was so proud of him, my dog Rover who had two limp legs started walking on fours for the first time in 10 years. The elderly couple were so engrossed in the movie, I hear that they are still there as I write this, sitting in their seats, how nice! The political satire was so accurate in fact that a police officer stood up and shouted "I see the error of my ways! No longer will I shoot African Americans!" which was nice, in fact it was so accurate that the white house LITERALLY exploded causing a power outage on the entire east coast of America, causing families to finally reconnect with each other and grow as people. In summation go and watch The Emoji Movie, it will make you a better person and is totally not trash advertising at all and if you think that, you're wrong, you are dumb and you are a traitor to our species and should be executed.… Expand

The movie is completely flawless. The scenes are so smooth and not forced, the advertisements are very subtle and the music is great.
The story is engaging and incredibly original, also the jokes were written very well.

It includes amazing dance moves such as the Emoji Pop, which I will be using.
The plot is very interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole movie.

If I could I would give it a 11/10, but it will have to stay as 10/10.

There is some kind of glitch on these sites, where they show negative reviews instead of positive ones. What a weird glitch/bug.… Expand

There is absolutely no advertising just references, popular viral videos and memes. You go to this journey with the protagonist, Gene, who struggles to be a "meh" emoji because of his expressive personality. Together Gene, his dumb friend and Jailbait will try to find the answer to Gene's problem. Also the music was just too generic for me and my friend, William Xenopanagos, but some kids might like it. The plot twist was mouth gaping and quite clever. It was so clever that i cannot spoil it to you because you have to see it for yourself. And so, I rate this movie 10/10, go watch it and enjoy it. It is single handedly the best movie of the 2010s. There is no way to describe how funny the subplots are of the meh emojis having feelings but then saying them in the meh tone, about 12 times this happened and I laughed every. Single. The romance is powerful, the scene where they ride the waves of spotify(tm) the romance was amplified by them shoehorning in a message about gender stereotypes and the likes. I urge you to go out and see this generations citizen Kaine today!

The story was absolutely amazing, it is so predictable and boring that it made remember why I love movies so much, everything in this movie is bland and I really appreciate the laziness.
I also adore that they use settings like Candy crush, just dance and so many original places, it really reminded me that I was watching a 90 minute advertisement.

The characters were also top notch, making jokes that make me wince a lot, I really appreciate that they made a character that is a poo and makes only poop jokes and don't worry there is a lot of them.
The main characters were boring and barely had any developement which is what I love to see in movies, The parents of the main character were so annoying that me and all the other people in the cinema really winced a lot in a good way.

I adore this movie, please watch this movie, it's so much better than a stupid movie like inside out or wreck it ralph, all these people who are complaining really don't know what they are talking about, I know what is a good film and these "critics" are just people who don't have an intelligence.… Expand

I liked it. Yes it's simplistic but it's very funny. I love films like this. What I mean is I love films that don't take themselves too seriously. Or, in this case, not at all.

I don't know why everyone hates this movie. Sure, there might be blatant product placement, lots of cliches, Patrick Stewart being a literal poop emoji (he doesn't even get enough screentime, anyway), and the like. I went to see this movie with my sons and they LOVED it! My kids laughed all the way through although I wasn't very happy with the Smiler character who frightenend my yougest son. I loved how funny High Five was and James Gordons performanceI went to see this movie with my sons and they LOVED it! I have long been a fan of Tony Leondis' films. The Prince of Egypt, through the intricate stories and interesting characters managed to captivate me and ignite my passion for the Christian faith and story. A few weeks ago my grandchildren Ethan and Ava came bounding into my house demanding that I watch the Emoji Movie with them. I obliged, although unaware of what they were. As I type on my iPad 2, I still don't know exactly. But I digress. Once the movie started, I found myself immersed in the compelling, enthralling thought-provoking story and the fascinating, amusing characters. We laughed and laughed, especially Patrick Stewart's Oscar-award winning performance as the "Poop" Emoji, although our favourite joke was the shrimp of the barbecue, it was somewhat derogatory. The "Meh" Emoji family accurately portrays the modern Australian family. Gene's relatable character guaranteed he would be remembered as one of the most memorable characters in cinema history.

The movie would've benefitted from more A-list appearances such as; Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and John Wayne. This movie will be remembered as one of the best films in cinema history, and its groundbreaking progress will be big shoes to fit.

When I was a child, I used to dream that I could succ some pee pee AND watch a wonderful major motion picture about emoticons finding themselves at the same time. This dream is now a reality! I love the way that Gene's character developed thought this movie! The whole time I had no idea if Gene and Jailbreak were going to get together in this movie. When they did it was a huge surprise and I LOVED it! I love anime so I exclusively watch the movie in Japanese. With subtitles of course. I really hope they come out with another one of these imaginative and innovative movies soon! The only real issue I have is that it's not long enough. I hope the next one fixes that. If you don't like reading, then go to the bottom. Anyways, let's dive in. Let's go to the young person's prespective: The Emoji Movie is a fresh, new movie for them. It simulates their lifestyle. Right now, people are using more emojis every day. It is ome of the best inventions since the mobile phone. The emojis can comunicate to our people more better. We can express our feelings more than just text. The movie has all of that and many more. This movie is really good for young people because they use Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube.This movie can simulate all that. If all the young people had to gave it a rating, it would be a 10/10. But then, there's the older people. You know, the people who prefer Atomic Blond instead of this. Anywho, If you look at this movie on the older person's prespective, you know why thy hated it. It's another cash grab **** that gives them headaches. All the jokes are too stale, the plot is barely visible, It's like Inside Out, but worse, which is ironic considering that Inside Out has a Tomatometer of 98%, and it's basically Inside Out, but with emojis. I'm pretty sure that the old viewers would give it a 2/10. And here is my prespective, which no one would care. The Emoji Movie is not really terrible. Most people always skin every single movie without looking deep through it. I actually have to see it 3 times, 2 which I already been. If you actually look really deep into it, then you can actually enjoy every movie, no matter how **** or how awesome it is. That's the secret to all this. You have to really go deep into a movie to actually get the full picture. Even if you already go deep into this, try harder until you're 100% certain there is nothing. The Emoji Movie has some things that are hidden that you need to see. The only thing is that you have to go deep to see it. Alright, here comes the ratings. For young viewers, it's a 10/10 for them. For old viewers, it would be 2/10. Mine would be a exact 8/10. Is it good? Yes. Would your kids like it? Certanly. Would the adults like it without their kids? They would like it. Will it b fun if you bring your kids? No. Either leave your kids in the theater and go do something else, or better yet, take your kids in a kid-friendly cinema (A.K.A a room full of kids and a oppisite, seperate room for adults.) and see it there, or better yet, go alone, or with your friends, and go see it. To be honest, I saw The Emoji Movie only to understand why it gets so much hate. As a Redditor I understand why I am supposed to hate this movie (because...emojis?), but why does the normie audience hate it? As a Redditor I understand why I am supposed to hate this movie (because...emojis?), but why does the normie audience hate it? Isn't this movie supposed to be like, their dream come true? Don't they always keep spamming emojis in all their sentences when writing a message or making a meme? When the movie hadn't come out it was being advertised a lot, so I thought people are supposed to be excited. Even the animation of this movie seemed really good. But I watched it and now I know the problem.
The Emoji Movie is very ignorant. It talks about emojis as if it is supposed to be something very cool. In reality only elders, women and children use emojis when they message (because they are the only ones we can't slap some sense into). But then again the target audience here is the children. So considering this movie is from their point of view, emojis are supposed to be shown as though they mean a lot to them. So let's come to the second point. The emojis are shown to have their entire personality revolving around their expression. Why can't they just be doing their job? Also how come so many emojis look similar? Is it like only one of them goes to the emoji keyboard while the others have no business? There are so many questions that the movie doesn't answer.
I don't know which problem plagues this movie the most. Is it the product placement? No, it just gives a feeling of adventure. None of the product placement looks as much on the nose as everyone describes. Like in TVF Originals they straight up speak out to advertise the things. Here at least Gene and Hi-5 are going to those places to see what is happening over there. I kinda found the Candy Crush part funny and relaxing at the same time. There was also the Just Dance part, and that was definitely cringy. But that was the only cringy one. Facebook, Skype, Drop Box - everything else was quite decent.
The jokes weren't half as bad, considering this is aimed for kids. Even I used to make many poop jokes when I was 13. If there even was anything bad, the animation and music compensated for it. The idea that there are so many emojis that we can establish and entire world using it is actually something I'm guessing everyone must have thought at some point. The one part that I surely felt was cringy was when the kid gets to ask out his crush because he sent her a custom emoji. Only if life functioned that easily. Hi-5 was also pretty disgusting. Every time he kept his hand (thumb) down it used to hurt me. Imagine bending your thumb down that much. Also when he ate the salivated candy I felt like vomiting.
The Emoji Movie is a bad movie, yes, but it's still better than many animated movies I have seen. Food Fight, Delhi Safari, Roadside Romeo, Geng: The Adventure Begins, Pangaa Gang, the entire Super Bheem series - there are plenty of examples of animated movies that are even worse than this. It does have redeeming qualities, even if they are not enough to make this a genuinely good movie. I can imagine the animators must have worked hard on this movie even if they didn't agree with the script. And that is the reason why I have massive respect for them.… Expand

The Emoji Movie is not as terrible as I was led to believe, I can't believe I'm actually saying that.... It's still bad, don't get me wrong, just because trash is good looking doesn't change the fact that it's trash. There are good elements of the film, but for the love of god there are just too many negatives to give it a 5. The Story is so one note, and the characters are very one dimensional. I get that they're emoji's, but wish their was more to ALL of these characters than their outward appearances. Instead, everybody besides Gene is a cardboard cutout. you don't have to do much, just give them better characterization. The product placement is distracting, you could've renamed all the apps to work with the context of the films. But for the love of god, why did you change the way apps work to fit in the context of the film, if the audience KNOWS there is no such thing as a trash bin for apps. The ending with the emojis dancing felt like it could be thrown out. And things like the use of twitter, youtube, and Spotify were very immersion breaking. Just make up your own apps and songs and maybe keep the one pop song in the end. In any case, this movie felt in poor taste.

It's strange, because I could actually see this working in any other context, but - and I get that your audience is a bunch of children, but please try to treat them with some semblance of agency and maturity - when you talk down to your audience like they're a bunch of toddlers in the very beginning of the film, with Gene saying "who has time to text "WORDS" anymore?" that's when you've lost me. It's a movie for babies, and it knows it, but even babies could find better entertainment than this.

This premise could've been used for a movie about robots with emerging sense of self, and THAT would've made this film more tolerable. Like I said, the idea of the story is not bad, but problems arise because it's starring a part of the worlds culture literally no one cares about - emojis. Meh.

I will say now, the art direction is good, and the soundtracks they made for this film are actually not half bad, but the use of Pop score is very overdone in my opinion and only enhances my annoyance with this film.

This movie is bad, you could do so much better with other films, but if you're a film student or want to learn how to NOT make movies, then this movie may prove as a means of what not to do. Do not buy this movie, I would say don't use money at all on this... I wouldn't normally recommend that you just set the sails and become captain Jack Sparrow... but if you're feeling adventurous enough and have nothing better to do, then you'll probably do so.

But overall, this film is a meh.… Expand

This sucks so the beginning is nice but after about 5 minutes of it. But, Oh how far it goes down! The main character Meh, Explains how the movie essentially is just meh!

I agree that this film was not good. Not because of bad writing, animation, voice rendered, but the timing of the film coming out mattered. If this same film was releasedAs a thematic where expressions matter the film failed to express!

I agree that this film was not good. Not because of bad writing, animation, voice rendered, but the timing of the film coming out mattered. If this same film was released before 'Wreck it Ralf', 'The Lego Movie', 'Pixels', 'Inside Out', then people might have liked it. But now, it is like Sony desperately wanted their version of toys and/or games related film, so they made it. That's how it looks like. Despite all the criticism, the film minted good sum. So it is not a box office flop, only devalued honestly by those who saw it.

Those titles I mentioned and this story has the same storyline. Basically, that's very common platform where 80 per cent of the films borrow from. The scenes looked very ordinary, like there's nothing much to explore. The jokes were weaker, the characters were uninteresting in most of the parts. I would say they did not utilise them rightly. The good thing is, it is a watchable film, but the majority won't like it. Usually Sony animations were met with underwhelmingly, and seeing the response it had got, surely there will be no sequel, at least for now.
