This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointing at its BEST. Everything you wish to happen, it's gonna happen in a pretty much disappointing way. The actors are overacted, especially the "villains", they don't live to the hype, neither do tobey or Andrew, their appereances are bland and the interactions between them are ridiculously portrait, none of the characters have the essence they used to have in their films. For me, they **** up the spider verse in movies. Fan service reheated. Expand

I’m not somebody who gets butterflies every time I see something I recognize from my childhood. If that’s you, stop reading.

This movie is dumb, even by Marvel standards. Parts of the movie are shot and color corrected like a comedy movie. In fact, the whole movie seems like a 2 hour CollegeHumor parody.

There’s a scene that’s supposed to be emotional that came across as comedic due to the sheer absurdity of the situation.

Nothing is organic. Everything happens because a character decided to turn their brain off. Unfortunately, turning your brain off is also the only way to think of this as anything more than a forgettable Hollywood time-killer.

It loses a lot value as a piece of individual art as it depends so much on nostalgia and all the background from previous movies, as there is almost no character set up and the only character with real developement is the protagonist. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fan-service?!, many bad reviews just claim this. In my case, this is the only reason why I am giving this movie 4/10 but the truth is... the plot doesn't hold up, the acting is mediocre, the special effects are truly bad (Doc Oc. looked more realistic in Spider-man 2 nearly 20 years ago), and oh God, the cars that are smashed in the bridge fight are so awfully rendered that the PS4 Spider-man game looks way better. Yeah, it had many great characters, yeah it had many great heroes and villains from the other movies, but still... I left the movie so disappointed!!! It really felt that Marvel and Sony wanted to copy everything that worked in all the other Spider-man movies and Avengers and throw everything in a single 2:30 movie, the result is that no single character is developed in this movie! Yes, I watched every other single movie but I really couldn't care less about any character this time, because each character screen time was completely insignificant. Not to mention the scene in which Ned brings the two spidey's to help, oh God, what a mediocre and absolutely ridiculous scene!!! I honestly have no idea how so many people that claim to be fans have been giving this absolute mass of a movie a 10/10 or 5-start rating... Expand

The characters are all over the place, there are so many that none of them get properly developed so I didn't get to properly care about any of them. It all makes the story completely lack of the charm the previous two movies had, by trying to be so big and do so many things but eventually none of what it tries to prove or do gets anywhere. Going back to the beginning, the thing that made me not notice sooner how mediocre this is was the fan service. Carefully hinted to the point everyone knew it would happen, pretty weak when you think of it but strong enough to try keep the movie together and cover your eyes so you don't see how scattered the rest is. Sadly, that effect didn't last long, revealing all that was behind. Expand

What has become of this fanbase?

What has happened to standards of quality?!

And Spider-Man being your friendly neighborhood everyman?!

The whole point of this character is meant to connect to people with everyday problems facing them with a lack of control over it because he's trying to balance out those everyday problems as he grows as a person into a matured man. While keeping the super heroics on the most personal grounded level as possible.

At some point seemingly everyone has abandon this idea.

Now he's just every other generic superhero that just there to beat the villain with stupidly high stakes with no grounded relatable problems and a incredibly forced team up added to it. While getting all the gadgets, perks and help from any superhero he meets without any hard effort for it.

Cause that's what Spider-Man is all about that's all everyday problems we ourselves have dealt with.

This fanbase now are just jam-packed with A grade hypocrites.

Claiming to have high standards and expectation for this character being relatable and unique from other superheroes yet will drop it as soon as some other cool superhero shows up or teams up with him.

All of a sudden the superheroes are the only things that matters, not the people themself.
Now this character life is one none of us can connect to anymore. I'm done with all of this garbage!

Especially with this insane fanbase with zero standards not caring whatsoever what this character meant to represent anymore!

4/10 Mediocre movie just as expected.

I am a fan of Spider-Man and don't mind a few callbacks to other films or content fans enjoy. But this movie has gone too far. The middle of this movie really drags with the seemingly endless conversations. The beginning of this movie, that's shown in the trailers, is laughably bad. I just couldn't get into it and their excuse to get these characters in the same universe didn't work for me. That's about all I can say without giving away spoilers. I'm not sure how this movie is getting good reviews. It seems people have lower expectations for movies today. As long as there is something to laugh at and things go boom people will give it good reviews. Expand

Over long, dull, miserable self indulgent codswallop that purely relies on undue nostalgia for any positivity.

Ironically the biggest problem are the plot holes which a spawned by a character who's main power is making holes. He goes from godlike powers to being unable to do things back to being a god with no clear reasoning or rules obeying these restraints, it's just magic, so there! Deal with it!

All in all, just a big waste of time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is ridiculously mediocre. With the large amount of praise allow me to explain with spoilers. The story makes no sense. Spiderman has to get together all of the anomalies from other dimensions so Dr. Strange can make a spell to send them back? So, he gets together all of these villains who are from other dimensions, and he makes this spell, and he's about to hit it and Spiderman decides he doesn't want to because he kills them in other universes. Ok. Understandable. He's a hero. But wait. We find out he didn't get all of them together. There were 2 spidermans who were also from another dimension in this dimension. Wait. Why weren't they needed for Dr. Strange to make that spell? Wait. They don't all have to be in the same place at all for this spell to work either? Then why did we round them up in cells? I'm so confused. Okay, let's ignore all of that. If you saw this movie, remember when Aunt May dies, Spiderman very clearly gets shot in the shoulder. Somehow he instantly heals from that and we hear nothing of it again. He just chills on a rooftop, logistically bleeding out. But the movie just kind of forgot they made him get shot in the shoulder.

Dr. Strange gets defeated in his own mirror world, where he controls everything and is invincible. Tobey survives being stabbed & surviving like it's nothing ruining a high stakes, tragic, heartfelt death scene that could only have logically been stopped because they need him for a future multiverse movie one would presume. (Dr Strange and the MoM anyone?) Electro makes previous Spiderman go unconscious with a single zap, and moves at the speed of light so he can only dodge him with his Spidey sense. This electro is even stronger due to Tony Stark's technology, but cannot kill a Spiderman or even make them unconscious with a solid minute of screen time zapping him.

Let's talk about how out of character the news guy became. He went from needing to literally show up and use helicopters to aggressively film spidermans every move, to suddenly upon hearing spiderman taunt death onto his opponents at the statue of liberty being completely absent. What the heck happened? The writers didn't want a character they made to inconvenience your climactic end fight so they had to make the character act in ways he normally wouldn't. That's just garbage writing.

I'm not even going to touch on how illogical this spell is when people remember spiderman, but don't remember peter parker. It's just confusing as to how the story would have gotten to where it is without that memory when it comes to people like Happy, Aunt May, his friends, etc. and the more you think about it the more you'll want to rip your hair out so let's skip that garbage fire.

The entire movie was designed to give fan service at the cost of a great story like we had in the previous movie Far from Home.

The redeeming qualities are the great fight scenes, seeing 3 spidermans we're familiar with interact and share the screen together, and Willem Dafoe's amazing oscar level acting in this movie. I give it 3 or 4 stars out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is, even if it sounds crazy, the worst Marvel movie to me. I think that all projects have something to offer, maybe it’s the humor, the visuals, it’s characters, dynamics, action sequences, can be anything, but with this film it feels almost empty. It has very little things to offer, apart from the always great Zendaya, and sometimes the humor that characterizes the new spider man movies. The rest, feels very unauthentic and it sometimes even if the lead is almost in screen all the time, he is actually never the real star, it’s not his film. His journey, which I found very very interesting, especially seeing him with Tony in Civil War-Homecoming-Infinity War and later without him in Far From Home, was shaped and destroyed only so the movie could focus on the co-stars, rather than him. The villains plot was very exhausting, Green Goblin was great (maybe) back in the 2000’s, but right now, feels overused and kinda boring. His character seems overwhelmed by the other, at least on my opinion. Doctor Octopus and Electro shine, as Sandman and Lizard get forgotten in a corner, take on count that Lizard is my favorite antagonist from the SM franchise. When MJ falls and Peter’s aunt dies feels so fake, like, it’s not emotive at all, and should be. Strange was also super wasted here, his character had a big potential, but was used only when it matters, then gets trapped and magically returns just when they need him. It’s not the worst movie I’ve ever seen, but clearly a disappointment. Wish we can forget this ever happened and never mention it again. Expand

The same MCU that had always tried to get out of the comfort zone, to innovate, to deviate from certain canons, this time tried in every way to reassure the fans, to give them just what they wanted without daring a bit or writing a good script, all of this in order to avoid diverting attention from returning characters, a thing always hoped for by fans. Before this movie came out I thought of two alternatives: it could have been a mediocre movie with great fan service or a great movie with poor fan service. Well, I'm afraid to say what I saw was a bad movie with poor fan service. In fact, the problem with the movie is not only how much it lacks in substance and how it is put on the screen but also the fan service itself which, as it came through, was weird, patchy, stale and bland. The entry of those two characters on the scene was the most forced thing I have ever seen, and I really can't stand the thought I have waited two years to see such a minimal interaction among the three characters and such a boring and hasty final battle (with recycled scenes too). Plus, the movie seems to have no actual second act, same thing happened to Dark Phoenix and just like in Dark Phoenix the main actor stated that the script was written during filming, and it shows. This movie is the worst possible answer to Scorsese and his "theme parks", I have always disagreed with this statement and if it wasn't true before, with very few exceptions, this movie makes me question it, as I don't think No Way Home is definable in any other way. As far as I'm concerned it is among the worst 5 MCU movies and the worst Spider-Man live action movie, and you have no idea how heartbreaking it is for me to say that. After excellent and innovative products such as Wandavision and Eternals, 2021 Marvel for me ends with a huge step back. Expand

As for the film, it starts off well and ends poorly. The actors are partly known from the older films and fill in their well-known roles, but that's about it! The story is naively stupid full of logical errors and predictable. The CGI's are very good, otherwise the film doesn't offer any depth, hardly builds up any tension and really doesn't offer anything new. Sometimes the actors are listless and probably ask themselves, what am I doing here, why all this, oh I forgot, has to earn money, the fees are really attractive! Damned! Since Stan Lee died, hasn't anyone been able to make a good Marvel movie! Why does everything have to be "child-friendly" (nothing against children's films!)?! Why is the NORMAL viewer held here for stupid! But I'm probably upset for nothing, it's just a movie, isn't it? One point for the CGI's and one point for the old Spiderman actors. Expand

The soap "The Bold and the Beautiful" has been airing since March 23, 1987 and in the States has exceeded 8,700 episodes: a mechanism tending to infinity, leaving the basic plot unchanged by applying insignificant variations or any (un)imaginable permutation. Marvel could have been content with similar stratagems as well, instead it has relaunched with horrifying new narrative expedients such as reboots and the multiverse to obtain a "death-free" outcome ever closer to self-cloning and to the definitive virtual defeat of Time. It makes Brooke and Ridge regret.
Ps: for the cinecomics please leave the "Talking Heads" of "I Zimbra" (1979) in peace. Thanks a lot.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It looked so ridiculous when the spiders that got into another dimension act like nothing out of the ordinary happened, and such "take us to your Peter, we will comfort him."
Why didn't the MJ activate the cube when the news showed the collapsed building? Why didn't Peter contact MJ and tell her to press the button when things didn't go according to plan?
To run out of the laboratory to the Statue of Liberty, to the height where the other villains are... Brilliant.
There are so many illogical moments in the film that it seems that the plot is kept only due to them.

The dialogue isn't funny nor amusing, the actors who play his friend and girlfriend, respectively, are pretty bad, and the overall plot for each film is so dull. Seriously not worth the money. The characters resemble The Harry Potter trio, but without a good story. The plot for this movie, in particular, feels more like a video game than a movie. It's a desperate attempt for a fresh story, but in the end, is too incredibly silly to be enjoyed. Basic trash entertainment to waste your time. Nothing more. Expand

Acting was terrible. Tobey looked like he wanted to get in and out as soon as possible because he was only doing it for a quick paycheck. Garfield was not any better.

One of the most brain-dead movies I've ever had to sit through.

The tone of the movie swings wildly between silly and not-taking-itself-too-seriously in some scenes, and then trying to hit hard with emotional drama that it makes absolutely no meaningful build up to in other scenes. As a result, the silly scenes feel awkward, and the drama heavy scenes fall completely flat. The entire plot is pulled along by a string of increasingly convoluted deus ex machinas, all under the pseudo-scientific guises of "string theory", "the multiverse", "magic", and "making/repairing something powerful in the lab". The sheer number of these absurd devices makes the entire plot and all of the character motivations mostly incomprehensible by the halfway point.

By the end of the movie I was left feeling like Spider-Man was an annoying, egocentric, and self-righteous little jerk, and that I really didn't care at all about any of the other characters. The movie boils down to a 2-hour-long slog of flimsy fan service and nostalgia baiting for the Spider-Man franchise. But hey, it's a perfectly valid, focus-group-tested recipe for butts in seats that all but guarantees a profit.

I honestly can't believe kids like this. For me it's the overall approach to these films now and it's just too goofy and silly for me. I just hate Marvel films because of their f****** dumb comedy and silly dialogue and scenes. I can't take it seriously and it's just not good. If I can't sit through one of these films which is becoming more of the norm now it means your product is awful. I mean I'm totally done I can't watch this garbage, am I the only one? Complete trash from Marvel which is not a surprise cus that's everything they put out now days. I would rather watch a movie from 20 years ago then this f****** awful garbage. Movies are getting worse. Expand

so boring and constantly trying to make you 'sad'. villains complexity is removed just to prop up the spider-man. just constant crying and plot conveniently does 180 when things goes too far.

Just badly made fan service. The play doesn't make sense and the film doesn't have an artistic relevance. It's made by fans and not by a director or a writer with creative ideas.

Everyone's been trying to teach the whining little spiderbaby lessons, but he just doesn't grow up. No "With great power there must also come great responsibility" motto, no true inner motivation for heroism, therefore no more actual core of spirit of this character.
And most importantly, he doesn't even have enough power to solve his own problem by himself. Is that what a superhero supposed to be like? The world has already given him enough time to grow up, come on.

Sand Man fights spiderman for no reason. No explanation for Mysterio's ability to frame Parker. I have no clue behind why the conflict existed. Ridiculously horrriblwy. Fallaciously desired plot with so many randomly pitiful conflicts appearing and dismissing every other solution. So much more they could have done. There is no way this plot could work. They release villains and allow them to help them cure them. Soooooooo predictably luny. Like you really didn't expect them to turn against you. Somehow, one villain makes a speech and all other villains agree with him. Some of them don't even consistently follow up with their characters. Parker has a cringy and contrived revenge plotline and we are just suppose to expect the villains to be good now. I still dont' care about Parker's relationship with his auuuuuuuuuuuunt. They don't allow us to care about aunt may and so her supposed inspiration in the plot has no weight and we never saw why she was the way she was through her actions. Moral conflict is stupid and is only used to act as a plot device for the writers. Every plot decision is devoid of logic and is only for the purpose of moving the story in a direction that the writers want it to go in. Plot could end easily, but is continued for no good reason. Butt loads of scenes that do nothing to tell you about the characters or develop them. Characters are dumb. The hearts of these villains need to change too. Expand

Unfortunately, Spiderman has long since become a comedy, this film is often even worse, funnier and more boring than other parts. That's what happens when you hire a kid for the lead role.
